  1. I'm not sure health was there to provide an incentive to rest. I think of it more in terms of making resting after every fight unnecessary. Health and Endurance meant you had to watch yourself in most fights or you'd go down, but you didn't need to rest that often. Injuries will provide a malus, meaning I'll probably rest more often to get rid of them (like after getting injured in a scripted interaction now).
  2. As I said in the other thread - $12 for me directly on Steam (33% off on current sale - no coupon). Though for some regions it will make a difference. It's 33% off on gog too - I'll wait til it's 50% off and get it on gog. It'll cost a little more but I'll have all my games together.
  3. ^GM is the only one I managed to make leave - there are a few times she will. But not the others.
  4. And it's discounted directly on Steam too - 33% off - currently 82 yuan ($12 or so) with no coupon in my region. Already gave away my coupon anyway. If I'm going to buy it on Steam, I'll just get it directly. Not yet though. Edit: ooohhh, on April 4th they're releasing a portrait pack for $4 ... seriously - extra portraits for $4 - sadly not an April Fool's joke.
  5. You can buy the game on Paradox's website and they should give you a Steam key. I can't confirm as I think my card auto-declines Paradox because they are Swedes and I have to wait to call my bank when they open. Yes - paradox are selling Steam keys. (Though depending on your region, it may be cheaper to buy directly on Steam as Paradox doesn't do the region-pricing that Steam does).
  6. Your gear fell 15 dungeon levels of hole below ground and was buried in rubble. It'll take a team of excavators 2 years to reach it. Sadly your money is also at the bottom of that pit and no excavating team is willing to take an IOU. Also during that time you can amass an even larger fortune by selling freshly acquired xaurip spears. So I set sail for Deadfire and leave Caed Nua in the dust... Zombie-cat should survive though (then again, it's been 5 years - it's probably skeleton-cat by now). And Cosmo - 'cause nothing keeps a Giant Miniature Space Pig down.
  7. In BG, wizards could open locks and become invisible - but I don't think they could disarm traps (summoned monsters could set them off in one version, but I think BG2 stopped that). Wizards could also eclipse fighters for tanking and damage. They were weak at the start but became OP by the end. But each class could be built to be powerful. A thief with UAI and spike-traps could do a ton of damage and stay invisible almost all the time (with staff of the magi). In NWN2, wizards' 'find traps' could disarm traps too. So the rogue was always left behind in the OC for me because I had to take the enforced members. The trick might be in making interesting spells, but also making other classes interesting too. Rather than saying that the other classes must be static so the wizards can't get more spells. Having utility spells that are special to a wizard, then having rogue-skills that are special to a rogue (like the reverse pick-pocketing - but I'm not sure if that's a skill all classes can take) might be the way to go. Fighters can have fighter skills that make them special, etc. PoE was great for me in terms of making each class feel special. The sub-classes proposed for PoE2 sound even better in that regard. A utility wizard could be an interesting idea.
  8. Depending on what tier you backed Deadfire at, you can get a coupon through the backer portal (under 'My Products')
  9. ^Yes - having more options is great. ^No - they can't get rid of it altogether anyway as there are those of us who use custom portraits. So long as they have a greater variety of face-shapes and hair/beard styles, I'm good. But they should certainly look at the included portraits and make sure something resembling them is possible.
  10. OK - PM sent He was supposed to quote you!!!! You broke the rules!!! (bored waiting for customer support to call me back ) well I got gazumped last time so I figured I'd shoot first this time #Hanshotfirst
  11. Just replied to you on FIG but saw this here too - looks like Paradox only offers the US price on their store ($44.99). I'm just going to wait for a gog/steam sale down the road (I'd much prefer gog but the steam price is way cheaper even without the coupon from mainland China).
  12. I've got a 50% coupon available too - I will PM to the first to quote this post in reply (or PM me I guess, but I'd prefer the post in thread so others can see it's been claimed). I'm on China time so if it takes a few more hours it's because I'm asleep
  13. That's interesting. Just checking my price: Paradox Interactive Store: $45 (can get for $22.5 with my coupon) Steam Store: 122 yuan = $17.6 full price Even though I'm British, I live in China. Well done Paradox. If you'd given me a gog coupon, I'd have bought it happily and given you more money. Now I'm actually considering waiting for a Steam sale and making it the first game I buy on Steam LOL. Anyone want my 50% coupon? (they said it was transferable I think).
  14. First let me say that I am also in HUGE support of the health/endurance system of PoE 1 and I wouldn't want it replaced in PoE 2 with something else. Secondly I would also really appreciate if someone would set up a poll where we can vote on the health/endurance system of PoE1. Done: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/92184-new-health-system-poll-version/
  15. By demand, figured I'd be the one to put this as a poll. From the discussion in this thread - read for more info on the proposed health system which replaces separate health and endurance with an injuries system (3 injuries then you die) : http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91975-proposed-new-health-system-ie-the-one-time-ill-complain/ Done
  16. walkthrough / translate / whatever - the point was that it wouldn't really do much beyond sending some players out of the game (though maybe I'm weird in having a desktop to game on and a laptop to browse the internet on). I also think that using real world languages would break us out of the fantasy world we're in. Your native language (or whatever you're playing in) doing for the 'common tongue' and other languages being con-langs works better for me. I also think that knowledge should come from within the game for gaming stuff. I'm roleplaying a character, not myself. There'll always be some stuff you might do better at with outside knowledge (e.g. "I've played this kind of game before so tactics will be easier for me".) but I don't think it should be something you can't learn by playing the game. You could gain the ability in game to understand the language. If you spoke the language you just wouldn't need to. There is no need to browse the web, unless you are too impatient to wait till you gain that ability. Ah, fair enough. But I still prefer small amounts of fantasy con-lang rather than large (or small) amounts of real-world languages.

  18. not really- you'd get people complaining that the game forces them to use google-translate. I'm happy with the way language was used in PoE - certain small phrases used for flavour ["Di verus?" / "Eccosi"] that can be understood with a basic background in Latin/Italian or just from context, but nothing major.
  19. once the backer data has been transferred to the backer portal ("soon" is all we know), you should be able to buy the addons there. Edit: Latest update suggests it'll be 2 or 3 days til they make another update on how to register the pledges on the backer portal: https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire?update=298#updates
  20. While it's a cool idea and I'd probably use it a few times (mostly boss battles or after I messed up), the cost-reward argument is always in effect. If it's easy to do, then sure. If it's a lot of work, then no.
  21. Tyranny is also on gog. Sadly the 50% off coupon for backing PoE2 at a certain tier is Steam-only, otherwise I might be buying it and seeing what all the fuss is about.
  22. I do ... they don't always help very much but I enjoy getting one to actually go off and affect an enemy (much easier in later patches). (I'm not on steam though so if there are any stats about such, I'm not one of them). I was one who voted for 6 party members. Not for any tactical reasons, but just because it would mean more party interaction in fewer playthroughs. If I have to leave Eder at home, I won't get his dialogue with Sagani. If I drop Kana from the team, he won't hit on Maneha. Etc. But I'm not that worried - I'll probably get a few playthroughs anyway, and I might even be encouraged to swap the team up within a single playthrough (something I don't usually do as I get the team I want and stick with it). Provided Obs stick with the 'no forced party members' (beyond Cilant Lis) and don't pull any NWN2 shenanigans, I'll be fine.
