  1. First impressions: (+) Looks fantastic, sounds fantastic, Feels fantastic. Already agonized over a cut-scene choice (the first one, choose A or B)(not that my benevolent druid would choose any other way, but it was tempting). The VA is top-notch so far (only got as far as the first cave before I had to go to work). I could still live without full VA but at least it's well done. I like the narrator but glad she stopped narrating every description once the game got underway. Combat is fun (what limited combat I've had) - will take a little getting used to the changes, especially the health v. health/endurance thing, but so far so good. (-) My import save seems to have a couple of bugs (like Eder's PoE1 ending) but I hear that's not just me. The opening needs a skip for replays (but I hear that the non-skippable-ness is a bug to be fixed) I don't have enough time to play (but I hear Obsidian can't really do anything about that ).
  2. Managed my first play this morning before work (actually booted it up when I got home last night but didn't even get as far as character creation before my baby daughter demanded attention - luckily she had a nice lie-in this morning). Great so far - the same PoE feel with a nice new place to explore Less than an hour into the game and I already had one agonizing choice for my character to make, I really like the ambient sounds, the music, and the voice-acting, and the whole thing looks superb
  3. I don't use galaxy but there's a thread on gog about needing to get off the beta stream and onto the main game. Not sure of the details, but yeah, you need to do something Edit:
  4. Congrats on the release I'm downloading now (my timezone meant I was asleep earlier ) Edit: and installing now. (Play will have to wait until tomorrow as I'm off out to work soon - boo! LOL )
  5. You don't need galaxy - just search for critical role on gog to 'buy' it for free: https://www.gog.com/game/pillars_of_eternity_ii_deadfire_critical_role_pack (or click here )
  6. Now the season pass is not listed separately on my shelf - and no indication under the base game that I own it. (But on the plus-side, the main game is downloading (just woke up here) - yay!
  7. Yay - redeemed mine on gog. It's telling me that I don't own the base-game, despite the season pass sitting next to it on the shelf, but I imagine that's because the game isn't released for another 2 and a half hours.
  8. Cutthoat Cosmo is the same - but has a pirate hat. (possibly different bonuses too but I haven't heard anything about it)
  9. I'll be trying to stay away too ... but sometimes I get bored at work and then get withdrawals so I might peek in
  10. Maybe try Mikey Dowling - he'll at least know who to ask. (and yeah, that watecolour looks weird)
  11. Weird that the Linux specs are so much lower - 570 recommended, 9600 minimum. (Edit: Actually, not sure how the 570 compares to the 960) What's windoze up to? Maybe use Wubi (ubuntu installed through windows and as easy to uninstall, but running a full linux OS (option at boot time)) to play it. Warning: Slightly more monkeying about to fix your boot-up if/when you remove the linux).
  12. Am renaming "The Defiant" to "The Quite Amenable Actually" (depending on string-length, it may be "The Negotiable"
  13. Just so you don't get out of bed in vain - Wednesday is the 9th (Tuesday is the 8th) - I'm on a similar timezone (1am for me on the Wednesday)
  14. Whilst it's something I'd probably use, it's also something that doesn't have enough impact in an isometric game like this to warrant spending the resources on it. (Edit: IMO, YMMV, etc)
  15. 1am on Wednesday here - so I'll be DLing Wednesday morning (internet connection is usually great though - unless gog gets hammered with deadfire downloads). (Edit: days of the week and their confusing names ... *ahem*)
  16. Island names at the ready: "Nomanisan" "I air, I sea," / "I take-off," and, of course, "Melee" , "Monkey", etc --- On a more serious playthrough I'll have to name them after my pets, or lost crew-members who've fallen to Davy Jones' locker
  17. I'm off work on the 8th!!! - but Deadfire will release in the middle of the night between 8th and 9th for me!!111!!! So I'll play a little on the morning of the 9th, but a real play will probably have to wait until my weekend (which starts Sunday).
  18. I'll probably use them about the same (saving the point above about having one less slot in the party). My main will be my PoE1 druid, I'll be taking the returning 3 companions, plus Xoti for my main party (so Druid, Wizard, Priest for casters). (In PoE, my 1st playthrough was with that Druid main, Eder, Aloth, Kana, Sagani, and Durance - I later completed Pallegina's quest for the sake of importing to Deadfire). The changes to casters will make little to no impact on my decision to use a certain character. All the classes are useful in their way and I'll be trying out different combos in different playthroughs
  19. Do they have any banter though Well, my nearly-8-year-old son has far too much banter, and my 4-month-old daughter is a little like Rekke (she's definitely saying something, but nobody seems to understand her language yet). My wife manages to find a good balance of banter. My job contains repetitive barks but not much in the way of a quest. <- planning to upgrade that with a stretch-goal.
  20. Sounds great Does this mean we need to have an internet connection when opening the tool? Can we copy across the game-files from one machine to another, modify then put back? (I ask as my gaming machine is offline only)
  21. Good point, and although my main draw is the story, I don't normally replay the same class in these kinds of games. I'll roll a different character and class, and roll with a different party setup each time. Fun combat is an essential part of that.
  22. I was expecting a little banter from the sidekicks - nowhere near as much as a full companion, but it does seem a little odd to have none. Not even a cheeky/pithy/sarcastic/etc comment here or there? If they're just 'official' adventurer's hall companions, then they're the same as the Critical Role companions, no? Unique voice-set+portrait but nothing else to distinguish them. Hopefully their personality shines through in their introductory quest/convo.
