Maia bug
Silent Winter replied to maspien's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm still getting this problem after installing the latest patch (it started before I patched and I don't have an earlier save). Edit: Just got worse - the message showed up mid-combat (shortly after entering a new area but long enough to sneak around) Edit 2: In addition - despite not being on the ship anymore (can't see her if I go to the deck view). -
Fulvano's voyage was supposed to be the multiple part adventure - but unless I missed a trigger, it ended up being just a few different islands to be done in any order and having no connection (not even the Fulvano's letters / letters about Fulvano type thing from PoE1) As to the endless paths - I enjoyed it mostly - could do with being a bit shorter / more focussed - but as mentioned above, the PoE2 rest+resource system would make it less of a challenge/adventure - it'd be down to (player v. enemy) levels only. I dont see how the PoE1 rest system changed the endless paths difficulty in any way. You could rest infinite number of times even on PotD. It was one loading screen away. It just added travel time and loading screens. I rest as soon as someone reaches yellow health every time. No point not to I know some people played that way - returning to town for supplies so they could rest after almost every fight - I just don't get that. I preferred to play it a bit more roleplaying - using rest when needed and pushing my party through the adventure even when they're not at their best. Endless Paths provided a good opportunity to do that (even if returning to the surface - should I try to go on and hope to find a master staircase soon, or should I backtrack a couple of levels and play it safe?) But to each their own. I think a longer dungeon with 'no rest' zones might work (but then some people would still backtrack and rest in a safe zone after every fight and complain that they're forced to, instead of facing the challenge as presented). It's hard to account for everyone's play-styles.

The Larder Door only has Bash - which is a low dmg offhand attack without any special effect that does not profit from dual wield speed bonus nor Two Weapon Style. It actually reduces your auto attacks' dps. but looked cool while you were doing it I've got one large shield on one character, a medium on another, and the rest of the party have both hands on a weapon. Never really noticed, but the one with the large shield is a druid and spends more time casting spells.

[BUG] He Waits in Fire / Fruitful Alliance
Silent Winter replied to dranna's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Don't know about the first question (I got the quest just as normal - what's your reputation with the Huana?), but funnily enough I had the exact opposite issue with the 2nd (I returned souls to bodies but was asked if I was the same one who returned them to the wheel) https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/102265-11-import-save-not-getting-correct-reactivity/ ^Obs is aware of the 2nd and working on it. My reputation with the Huana when I had the conversation was 3 or 4 positive and 2 negative. I took some decesions against the Huana, eg.: freeing the water dragon, but I managed to convince the Queen that losing an ally would not be the best for the Huana. Those 2 negative could interfere in getting the quest? I don't think so (I freed the water dragon too) - did you try talking to the queen again (going through the dialogue options again)? Sometimes, even though the first option looks like it's been used before, there's a new option later in the tree. (I'm only guessing here though). If not - definitely sounds like a bug. -

But should they really add more bows just cause you can't find a lot of them? The amount of bows will tilt compared to other weapons. Doesn't really make sense. If the bows are there and we're just missing them through bad luck, then no, they shouldn't just add more bows. If there are fewer bows compared to other weapons on the beaten path, then they might look at their placement/number. Same for wands. (Having said that, I just found a nice, if rather expensive, bow)
-
I also want sufficient special bows for my future ranger playthrough - I've found the same problem with wands in my current playthrough. Poor Aloth's been stuck using scepters because by the time I found even a 'fine' wand, there were already exceptional and superb unique scepters. (not that he attacks much with it, but it'd be nice to have more unique wands or just an enchantable one). Maybe I'm looting the wrong dungeons (haven't finished yet).

1.1 import save not getting correct reactivity
Silent Winter posted a question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Recently updated to the latest (public) patch from gog. Continuing a game from before, but hadn't entered Ashen Maw yet. Finished Ashen's Maw - when Not a big deal if it doesn't make a big difference later on - just thought I'd mention it. Anyone else had anything similar since the new patch? -
Gah, MY EYES!! Just updated Deadfire and like you, the news screen is now unhidden by default. Not only that, it's HUGE and cuts across my options menu. I can thankfully minimize it but I'd rather get rid of it altogether (I'm not even online on my gaming machine so it's not like I can click on any of the 'news' (I already know about) anyway). Dear Obs - please reinstate the news-hider option

It should automatically update if you are using Steam or GOG Galaxy. Which distributor did you get the game through? and which OS do you use (Windows, Mac, Linux)? I got it through GOG and I'm running Windows 10 If you are using GOG Galaxy, it should automatically update the game for you. If you decided not to use Galaxy, then I believe you need to re-download the game from GOG. no need to redownload the whole game - there's a manual patch (which wasn't downloading properly for many people earlier but I believe it's fixed now. (Edit: May not be fixed yet according to posts on gog - I'm at work and unable to confirm - there's reports that redownloading the whole game doesn't work right either due to a missing BIN file). ILE as Daled points out: As said if you are using Galaxy it should update automatically, otherwise you should download the patch from the game's page in your library (1.0.2 -> 1.1) these should be the links https://www.gog.com/downloads/pillars_of_eternity_2_game/en1patch0 https://www.gog.com/downloads/pillars_of_eternity_2_game/en1patch1
