My take on the companions couple days ago: Now I'm reading in this thread that the lack of companion involvement in the main story. Bleh. They are not involved in anything, not even in a side quest other than their personal quests. We should expect more from a party based cRPG, right? But what we got is in the same lines with New Vegas(which was good for mainly single character game).

Ygritte, Barbarian Archer build?
Quillon replied to Triga's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
What does it matter what class she'd be? as long as she could do well with a bow, she'd be good to go. Wish there were an option for rangers not to take animal companions. I was thinking about a witcher themed party Geralt - barb or cipher? Ciri - rogue or barb Triss - priest or wizard Yennefer - wizard or cipher Dandilion - chanter Yarpen - fighter additional Zoltan - fighter Milva - ranger Regis - druid or priest(can druids shift into bats? :D) or Cahir as Paladin instead of one of the last three. -
(spoilers) Are the companions worth it?
Quillon replied to Sephie's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I didn't like companion interjections being no more than references for the PC character, not effecting the NPCs' reactions/quests at all. Now that I finished my first playthrough I have no desire to get all the companions again cos it won't be a different experience if I take a companion on a quest which I hadn't brought with me in my first playthrough. Was this design choice for freedom in companion selection? If so why Durance and Grieving Mother's quests requires you to travel with them till their quests are finished? Or was it too much additional work to make companions effect the story other than their own quests? Anyway, this really took away from replayability of the game for me. -

Pillars of Future, new Engine
Quillon replied to argenti's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
In "Pillars of Future" context I'm more interested in timeline/tech progress than engine. I remember some developer saying that even after a thousand years, worlds stay the same in fantasy worlds like forgotten realms but with PoE this will be different. So I expect(hopefully) a game from PoE franchise to take place later in the timeline of Eora. Could be a steampunk rpg, modern rpg, cyber, post apo, back to mid age whenever. This could be a unique thing for the IP. We could meet same souls from 500 year ago :D (or just cos this has heavy magic, it has to stay in around mid-ages?) -
Most enjoyable companions?
Quillon replied to sffrrrom's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Just finished act 2 tier 1: Eder & Hiravias & Pallegina tier 2: Kana & Sagani & Aloth tier 3: Grieving Mother & Durance - Why make their quests so we have to take them with us all the time in order to progress through? I mean it's ok with other characters' quests that they need to be with us in those certain locations, but with these 2 I feel like I have to have them in the party all the time so I don't miss anything in their quest-line. Also another thing that separates these 2 from others is *the way they see us* which is OK - I can enjoy it but I don't like it :D unlike the quest thing: I neither enjoy nor like how they done it. Was the catch here: "Most people wouldn't like these characters so we should force them in some way to play with them"? -
PoE - Feature Requests
Quillon replied to gerahmurov's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Expanded, yeah a bit living population could add to the flavor but it should've been more connected with the rest of the game, currently it's another skyhold but with THE dungeon. We could have recruited blacksmiths, alchemists and whatnots from rest of the game instead of generic people showing up in repaired buildings or NWN2's keep features and more but nothing can be done now, it's fundamentally this way. Apparently, the separated resources for caed nua area all went to 15 levels. -
Visual item and character design.
Quillon replied to Molcho's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
What's bugging me is whatever enchantments we put on weapons they always glow fiery, was freeze/lightning etc effects impossible? Also too hard to sort out inventory with so many weapon/armor loots and everything above basic with a blue tint, why you no make f.i. purple tint for exceptional and orange for superb? About coloring, I want plate armors' plate to be colorable. I won't be able to make a spiritual Rhaegar T. or Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach with these colorings in my future playthroughs :D -

i amateurishly made a Ragnar portrait for my barb, then I switched to godlike and didn't use it some painting effects some blur etc rough around the edges but looks fine in the game. -

Quillon replied to Majber's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)

Only 1 character?
Quillon replied to Dekeon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I plan the same. Also I will never take any adventurer hall character with me, not in the first playthrough, not in 2nd, not in the 3rd... Characters without personality is boring. Maybe this is why I didn't like wasteland 2 as much as I hoped. -
Keys ? When ?
Quillon replied to Skysect's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Not really.. i just want my key and then i will be happily waiting for release version (with Day 1 patch) Yep. Just peace of mind. -
I don't much care about appropriate names for the given setting or culture or whatever, as long as its not too modern a name I feel ok with it. I could go with Quillon or Beren(silmarillion), Halbarad(lotr) or names in my lang which I think fits in these types of games like Kartal(means eagle). I remember I named my first character Batman in an rp-pvp server of age of conan(first&last mmo for me), I was made fun of and laughed with them till GM forced me to change it, which I renamed to Dicaprio lol, later this also had to be changed. Another possible name is Rawer, which doesn't mean anything I know of except for RAWRRR!!!

dammit... I was relieved towards the end with the absence of spoilers, then the guy called his character something and I immediately recalled a part of the kickstarter video. F***!
