  1. PoE2 not coming anytime soon - may be unrelated to Tyranny. J. Sawyer said he's not involved with Tyranny and maybe most pillars team isn't either but in the interview quote above he also said PoE 2 is way off so its possible he and maybe pillars team are working on another project which is neither PoE2 nor Tyranny. ed: https://twitter.com/Obsidian/status/710111647449407488 Pillars and Tyranny have separate teams.
  2. Also: They are moving on a new(secret) project : d Only after that PoE 2 happens.
  3. This. I'm a sucker for choices & consequences but I never liked choosing which of the companions to take with me in RPGs, Besides its immersion breaker sometimes; like when a companion tells my character how both them did this and that and how he/she feels about it when he/she wasn't even there with my character. I rather have fewer & deeper(better: limited by party size in my perfect world) companions than having to choose among them which most of the time doesn't have consequences other than having or not having those characters/classes in combat situations. ed: And I'd give these fewer companions different inert traits those matter then I'd give me(the player) the freedom for what to make of them; train them in different classes with their traits in mind. This would also eliminate the apparent necessity that having to have a companion of each class.
  4. My wild guess is Pillars team has moved on to VTM with additional support and they are using unreal engine(ıt's been pretty much confirmed they are using it but with what game? : p). And Obs will wait until its done to crowdfund PoE 2.
  5. From what's shown so far only the main character/story seems interesting/different to me otherwise looks a lot like PoE and I don't particularly "dig" PoE style and I have PoE for RTwP combat(ed: and medieval high fantasy AGAIN...) so I have to be sold on narrative, deepness of choices & consequences and related mechanics which would make new playthroughs different. We'll see. Apparently there is an embargo for further info from GDC till next week.
  6. Well, I'm disappointed with this short announcement which doesn't tell much after all the hype on twitter.
  7. Most probably this. Feargus said they'll announce this in a few months in gi show back in november. Finally they are going to. I hope it is not another medieval high fantasy... Tho I am doubtful it being a large open world tps rpg. They said it is changed from its original state and I find it hard to believe Paradox to fund such a project unless its quality level is equal to Risen games. But we'll see...
  8. It was an idea in late 2014 then Obs postponed it for post-PoE release due to feedback from fans/till they delivered the first KS then nothing as of today.
  9. Unless I'm missing anything, does this mean the reincarnated Stormlands is going to be on the Unity engine? Either that or it's an entirely different game. In that gameinformer video above, it's said that Obs returned to using unreal engine. If they are also using Unity there might be 2 unannounced projects Obs is working on. https://youtu.be/7hqYxXEdw8U?t=6916
  10. Meh, one hour podcast and not one question about "what's next?".
  11. http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/10633/Interview-Josh-Sawyer-on-Wrapping-Up-Pillars-of-Eternity.html hımnn... well, [what I said 3 posts above.] : d
  12. https://youtu.be/7hqYxXEdw8U?t=9145 So WMP2's out, announce this game already! It's been nearly 4 months : p
  13. Honestly, having a keep like this does NOTHING for me. Not a thing. I'd rather be a pure adventurer, roaming free through the land, exploring and looking for treasures and doing quests and so on, rather than having to administer some boring old castle. I will say that what I've seen thus far does seem to be what I suspect some will see as an improvement, and that's ok. My gripe is with the major challenge "quest" for ownership of Caed Nua. It seems to come far too soon after you've taken Caed Nua and I'm constantly wondering how long I can put this quest off, because the first 3-4 times I tried to fight the big battle, I got stomped because my party wasn't of a high enough level and/or perhaps I didn't have enough allies, or whatever. I guess I wish that this particular "quest" didn't get triggered until after a fair bit further into the main story line so that you're certain to be in a better position to deal with the situation. I understand that you'd rather be a pure adventurer, even if it was in the center of the main story, more involved in everything etc maybe you just don't like castle stuff or that its being boring. About the quest, yeah it seemed to come too early. Maybe I could just put it on hold I don't know. I had only one ally in the field, there seemed to be 2 more that could be allies but I have no idea who those factions should be; maybe a faction from twin elms and one more from WM I don't know. I've done it towards the end of act 2 when I haven't even went to WM. Tho the battle was very nice experience.
  14. Great additions but for a time tho, then it becomes the good old Caed Nua. It just gave a taste of what could have been if Caed Nua were center of the game's narrative or played a big part in it. If there'll be Caed Nua or a new Keep in PoE2 I'm sure Obs will do better.
  15. I started a new game, am finished with act 2 and will go to WM now. I loved the Caed Nua improvements, new questline etc. made me wish for whole game was built around ruling & warring... fun stuff, gave me game of thrones vibe. Made me more excited for Expeditions: Viking which is supposed to be building around ruling & warring etc.
  16. Customizable party AI(like in dragon age origins). I have no hope for it to be in this game tho, maybe for PoE 2.
  17. I'd like to continue with the watcher(imagine the game's name was The Watcher : p confusion would be our epitaph). There is too much lore dump in PoE, a new protagonist means only more lore dump. I like to see more characterization from the second game rather than people dumping lore over me left and right and I want to see what will become of our poor watcher. Also I'm a sucker for sequels with save imports, hopefully there'll be save import and hopefully it will do more than just carrying over char stats.
  18. I don't believe this is the case. The setting/being fantasy or not or syfy or not etc is little to do with smaller or bigger audience. It will come down to what type of game it is and how well its gameplay then maybe story-writing. If it's an AAA fps/tps game than it will attract a lot more people regardless of it being realistic history/fantasy/syfy/PA etc. if a realistic RPG in Roman period would be done in the style of PoE with the same budget, it wouldn't be a lot more nor a lot less successful than PoE IMO. Movies were around long before games, it would be a lot more clear what most people wants from movies by this time than what people wants from games and there are a lot more realistic history movies or realistic movies than there are fantasy movies, so why do we assume most people wants fantasy when it comes to gaming?
  19. https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/695015132229799936 https://www.instagram.com/p/BBVxCUhpxx0/ Whatever project louisiana is, seems they are eager for meetings : p bet they are working on da announcement trailer
  20. Personally I would prefer a mix of people and different creatures. But a fantasy world with humans only, can work - not saying it won't. I just like a more "varied" mythology. I like open spaces and realistic travel distances in my open world games as well, but if that means cutting content and POIs because of them, then I wouldn't prefer them. Politics was merely a supplementary story on Skyrim. I used that mod too and would also have liked they expanded the story more and did enjoy it. Politics as a main theme might still work, but again, personally, I would choose a fantasy themed story any day over politics. The most important part though in my quote is not the politics it's the "multiple story narrative" . I am not sure if having a protagonist in GOT would actually work. One of the fundamental things in GOT is that it doesn't have one protagonist. What would be your role in the game? Roam the land, being a diplomat among the kingdoms and clear bandits or fight other factions in-between? Haven't really thought about that, I guess the template in my mind was like: choose one of few known houses and start as the heir/second son to that house etc. Now that I think about it, it would be too costly, the game would be costly anyway but this would triple it : p Let's see... the protagonist can be a young man without a family name as far as we know, who lived in the slums of king's landing until rightfully/wrongfully accused of a crime and being sent to night's watch, makes his escape on the road/or from castle black and game starts there; then on the player should try to survive somehow with his wits and/or combat prowess(the world is full of possibilities : p) with NW and mostly northern lords at his heels, while his identity slowly reveals... well this came out not so political : d And there are lots of fantasy elements in this world, just cos every third person can't throw a fireball it shouldn't be counted as non-fantasy.
  21. Why Feargus WHY? and that reason... Would actually have to agree with this reason. Well perhaps it is poorly put in that quote, but even if GOT is a great book and tv series I don't really think GOT would have made for a good rpg. First of all what makes GOT "tick", is that it's a multiple story narrative mostly focused on politics. Secondly its world is too dull as a fantasy world imo. It hardly has any mythological creatures. What would the 99% of Westeros' or Essos' land be populated from? Bandits? Meh. Elric of Melnibone on the other hand would make for an excellent rpg. An extremely rich fantasy world, lore, gods, artifacts, monsters and many unique and admirable points of interest (unlike GOT). Story-wise - intrigue, with twists and turns like a greek tragedy. GOT would still sell better for obvious reasons though -.- but even if GOT is a great book and tv series I don't really think GOT would have made for a good rpg. First of all what makes GOT "tick", is that it's a multiple story narrative mostly focused on politics. So? I played all witcher games and the part I loved the most was the politics of the 2nd game(too bad they overly simplified it in the third game), loved the court trial part of NWN2, I even liked Skyrim's civil war part most in that game, wish it was more deep/more fleshed out; my favorite Skyrim mod was "immersive partrols" which sets real time patrols of the factions in the world, clashing whenever they meet, take keeps from each other etc. And GoT has a lot factions/Obsidian love factions in their games. Strangely I don't pay attention/have little interest in real life politics. As for GoT being a linear story, well that's the essence of why I want a GoT "RPG" (in which the player can impact the fate of different houses etc.) and not just an open world action game. Secondly its world is too dull as a fantasy world imo. It hardly has any mythological creatures. What would the 99% of Westeros' or Essos' land be populated from? Bandits? Meh. As I said above there are a lot of factions(too many) in the world of ASoIaF to fill the world, and I don't believe a medieval game(or medieval RPG) has to have lots of magical things in it. I'd take an abundance of realistic/grey/not 2D human characters over a thousand different magical creature anyday and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one : p Also I don't believe an open world should be filled that much(like in W3), open spaces makes lots of sense in medieval setting.
  22. Lol if you believe Feargus gave the actual reason and not just PR speak to cover up the fact that it was probably a business deal. This is the same guy that signed a deal for an Alien RPG. Did you meant to write "bad business deal"? Anyway, after "that reason" he goes on to say that he told the publisher an RTS game would be better fit for GoT etc. PR or actual; he either tells "We chickened out" or he doesn't believe a medieval rpg without heavy magic would be fun/he wouldn't approve such a game; very publisher-like mind. Don't know which is worse. Faith in Obsidian decreased 25% Hope that soon to be announced(He said in a few months, 2 months ago) Stormlands/NC RPG isn't another medieval HF or any HF.
  23. So I just saw this interview: http://www.redbull.com/en/games/stories/1331721253309/pillars-of-eternity-what-next-for-obsidian Why Feargus WHY? and that reason...
  24. Pillars and Witcher's expansions Kingdom Come: Deliverance, devs didn't show any sign of delay but it doesn't seem like it'll be finished by summer Deus Ex MD Xcom 2 Mafia 3 Andromeda, if they release it this year DoS2, only if there is no forced 2 characters to control Also there is no way CP2077 releasing this year. Oh and The Technomancer could surprise us, Very Witcher2-3 like gamepay, seemed not too bad : p
  25. After WMP1 most probably. Also after the main game expansions are so old fashioned apparently. Everything has to be optional, you can do whenever you want. f.i. We'll see Geralt miles south of where the main game takes place in Witcher 3 expansion Blood & Wine but ıt'll most probably set during the main game events, somehow he'll find the time to travel there while everything waits for him back in north. Like our watcher's mind stops going crazy in White March.
