Update #51: Prototype 2 Update
Messier-31 replied to Darren Monahan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Ogre walkin' like a boss (*chuckle*). Anyhoo, yet another awesome update! Would be interesting to hunt down this skuldr thingy for the peasants living in the mentioned village. It has a witchery/warhammery feel about it, makes me want to play this game really bad.- 181 replies

IMHO the next Fallout game (if there even should be another) could take place back in good old California. Besides - I wonder how many years after the 2077 war this can be going? I mean, 2160s, 2190s, 2240s, 2270s, 2280s.... what's next? Cheers!

It was either Fallout or Baldur's Gate. Not sure after all those years. But it was epic back then

Update #41: D&D: Dwarves and Doors
Messier-31 replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Not even once have I said (wrote?) anything about baldness being a bad thing, yet here you already two times used this argument in this conversation. There is this saying in polish language "głodnemu chleb na myśli" roughly translated to "a hungry person has bread in his mind". So, maybe it is you having a "bald" problem? But hell, forget it, I don't wanna know. Goodbye and thanks for the fish. Now you're just being stupid. Even i can see how the shaved model top half might resemble Patrick Stewart, although that wasn't my first thought. Just because he doesn't like the model doesn't make him some kind of a racist. A lot of designers use models/tv stars to help design characters so connecting it to a know person isn't really that strange, even though it probably wasn't the case here. As for the model i will also point out that i find it lacking a bit as i prefer heavier bearded dwarves like the models in warhammer online where the beard reaches all the way to the cheek bones instead of just the jaw line Obsidian sends a newsletter every update asking what we think about the update, and i'm giving it. You don't like it? Tough luck. Hell yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it- 143 replies

Update #41: D&D: Dwarves and Doors
Messier-31 replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
The faces in the OP? They look nothing like Jean-Luc Picard. I mean, like... what? I... what? Do all bald people look alike to you or something? I think Messier-31 is probably picking up on the similarities in the nose structures. But Patrick Stewart doesn't have as broad a jaw line and lacks the prominent brow ridges of the dwarf model. Hence they bare only a passing similarity, and I certainly don't understand why that is even a problem. Just a common troll, I expect. Listen, mate: JLP was just my first impression (not only mine for that matter, but don't ask me for a testimony, unless you are familiar with slavic languages), when I saw it, so it makes me a troll? It's not like I compared it to a Chevrolet Chevelle from 1965, or something. It would be unfair to the chevy (joke alert!). You guys can't stand when someone has a different opinion, or what? Now if you'll excuse me, I got some trollin' to do back in mah mossy cave. Cheers.- 143 replies

Update #41: D&D: Dwarves and Doors
Messier-31 replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Well, I'm a bit disappointed... this dwarf looks kinda like Jean Luc Picard, with different beards attached. I hope this is really "wark in praaahgress, so don't go whaa?". Besides, the dwarven beard is somethin that their kin are proud of, not make fun of. This is mine imagination of how dwarves should look like, I mean c'mon - isn't he badass? Surely his wallet has "mean mofo" written on it!- 143 replies

I wrote "last" because it was meant for a trilogy. If the developers will want to continue however, that is still a matter of the years to come, but I see it would be very difficult. If anyone would like more witcher, then read the books, the original story that takes place before the games. After all this is a game based on literature.

Here it is: Coming in 2014 on PC and "all high-end platforms available" (CD Projekt RED isn't saying flat-out that it's a next-gen game, but it's a safe bet that new console announcements in the coming months will define the term "high-end platform"), The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt stretches from stormy islands to war-torn forests and a sprawling dark fantasy metropolis without a loading screen anywhere to be found. Read more: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/02/04/march-cover-reveal-witcher-3-wild-hunt.aspx Third and last part of Geralt's epic adventure which takes place after the events described in the book series called The Witcher Saga by Andrzej Sapkowski, the most famous modern polish fantasy writer. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Fallout 2 wasn't bad, one of the best games I have ever played, but sure - the quotation above says it all. Here's an example from NV: getting near the Nellis Air Force Base will result with a big GO AWAY welcome party, yet it is possible to get inside on lower levels quite easily. Deathclaws in Sloan are also quickly introduced, and you don't have to be a Fallout series fan to realise that, that there place is a no-go and the risk is all yours to take.

This whole idea from the starting post is quite interesting and admirable, yet I think there always are some pros and cons: Advantages: + economy looks more realistic, thus the game world is more realistic + would cause the rare magic items really rare + innovation in a game making it more interesting, because of unique and never used before approach Disadvantages: - dull "farming" quests possibilities (a vendor wants you to fetch 20 this and 30 that) - somewhat a match of Settlers being played in the background But I would give it a go!

A thing like a bestiary (like in the Witcher), codex (like in Mass Effect and Dragon Age) or journal (like in Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate / Icewind Dale series) with entries about important NPC's, factions, locations etc. that is developing with your character during the gameplay and choices you make. Also falloutish perks would be nice too... BLOODY MESS anyone? (that's for the lulz)

Project Eternity MMO?
Messier-31 replied to mcmanusaur's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
There are enough MMORPG's already to begin with, or to compete with. MMORPG's simply lack all the goodies you have in a typical cRPG. All that counts is to do things quicker, faster, stronger, be uber and better than other players, farm, ninja loot items and foul language. There's no fun in that, and the lore is merely visible somewhere far away in the background. Besides, come on... another Waste of Timecraft? PS. To the thread author: seriously, is that all you can do? Yes, sounds awesome. I can't wait to throw my money at Obsidian! No, I don't like the sound of that at all, but I'd probably buy it anyway. I choose No. 3, "No, I don't like the sound of that at all, and I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole"- 106 replies

I know that it's not going to happen and most of you will disagree, but here it goes: I say "no" to all MONKS in general. Go be karate-kid somewhere else!

Amaua; are these going to be something similar to DA:Origins race of qunari? Looks human but is not human.

Easy: society might be greedy as well. You pray to GREEDOR, god of, um... greed? Good for you! We could also use some of that wealthy bless, mind if we tag along? But what about deities who are greedy, though? Does STEVE god of crazy hairdo's and biscuits pray to his neighbour?

Creatures in Project Eternity
Messier-31 replied to TRX850's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Classic hust-have orc, goblin, kobold, hobgoblin, troll, ogre, basilisk, spider, dragon, wyvern, demon, undead* Other beastmen, satyr, striga, harpy, kikimore, chimera, gargoyle, banshee, dark elf, dryad, vila, rusałka, ****atrice ** Questionable zombie, mummy, giant * Creatures in Project Eternity, now that's a good question. Above are my types; as you see am not a fan of zombies, but there is a lot of great other undead creatures like a ghoul, vampire or lich. ** Oh come on! Censorship of a creature name, because of a rooster? Seriously? -
Ah, the old "if god is with us, then who is against us?" issue, which is also present in reality conflicts around the world. Jesus was a prophet in muslim religion, yet crusaders killed muslims in his name. Makes you wanna think, something is amiss. I will leave this for filosophers to settle. Maybe inhabitants of Project Eternity* will have more deities, or will not pay attention to this. * is there a name of the world of PE?

Project Eternity - Orgins
Messier-31 replied to Ulquiorra's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Full origin mechanics all the way; let's face it, this is 2013, why not use a feat like this? Ten years ago it could be problematic but nowadays it sure is possible, and entertaining for players. Even good ol' PnP tabletop roleplays gave the opportunity to "invent" your characters background and history. Well, not just opportunity, reponsibility even. It has been done before, so devs probably should go for it, m'righ? High five! Anyone? No? Ok. -
Last games I played from start to finish were Fallout New Vegas (mid 2011) Witcher 2 (late 2011) and Mass Effect 1, 2, 3 (mid 2012). Now I just play a random game from time to time. There was a time when I would play Star Craft, Baldur's Gate or Fallout over and over and never get bored. Alas, gaming was never so hard since this whole graduate / get a job / marry / start a family timeshift. I mean, come on - when was the last time I could spare a couple of hours just for that? I would however finish the Halo series, if it was available for the PC, though.

Dragon In Eternity ?
Messier-31 replied to Ulquiorra's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Dragons are present in many cultures and myths, so why not in yet another fantasy setting. Yes for dragons, and by that I mean dragony dragons filled with dragonosity (Smaug-like). -
Thanks, and yes - it's true. Until recent updates received via e-mail this whole forum thing was merely "meh". As for Orlan and my previous message; I think that it might be some halfling (small and hairy) / gnome (tinkery) / goblin (big pointy ears) mix judging from the desription and picture. I like that. PS. Mr. Sensuki, thumbs up for Geralt of Rivia. Mine is from a crappy motion picture.
