  1. Ditto. Because a great main storyline isn't the only factor. I had the same experience, maybe because the outside of Athkatla was somewhat less rich in content. Good, but not the same level of goodness as in the capital of Amn, know what I mean? There are all these little things that make gaming rad. P.S. Is 'rad' a word? If so, is it a proper word? Hell, I don't care; now it's a word. And it's rad - this word. 'Rad' is rad. Bite me.
  2. I think that it is more posiible than ever, that the final game will be called simply "Eternity"... check the title at the bottom of this map (Ä…fter following the link, click on the picture to enlarge). See? No "Project". Besides, this title is already too damn good associated with the game, and is good. http://thewertzone.blogspot.com/2013/06/map-of-project-eternity.html - CLICK MEEEEE!
  3. Wow, now I'm quoting myself - talking about selfishness, eh? In regard to my previous statement: the more I think about it, I wonder. Really, an army of yours for dealing with your quests for you, running on errands and such. I know it would be silly, but a conformist character would give it a go, I guess. Anyhoo, I love the whole thing that come up with this update, but I hope npc's will not play the game for me. And one more thing about idle companion missions: someone wrote in a different thread, that it would be awesome to send the less liked companions on suicide missions - I think it would be a magnificent feature... Eager to play!
  4. Great update, lots of good quality stuff going on and to do! Yet, here's a thought: You have a stronghold, right? You need to hire guards, military, people like that to defend it. Why not hire more of them and let's say, oh I don't know, order them to "CHARGE!" into the world, the dungeons, the enemies on your way... basically the whole storyline! You just sit tight, chill out drinking wine and wait for the entire story to get sort out by itself. You have an army, let them do all the dangerous sh@# ! Why bother and risk getting yourself killed? Ok, just kidding Adventurers simply do not roll this way - they always have to make stuff more complicated for themselves. Huzzah!
  5. Well maybe yes, but making own custom portraits is happening off the grid; it's not a game feature, but you use separate software to make your own genuine pictures for a character. Sure, this takes more time and work, also more skill, but the fun of it is worth it I guess. Too bad I didn't pick more points in ART (PHOTOSHOP HERO) last time I leveled up. Wow... think about custom portraits; that would be a chore A chore that I would personally very much adore, without a single drop of bore, and play with Portraits in Photoshop a little bit more ;D Now this just hit me... What about expressions in different health status? You didn't think about that, did ya? -- Angry.jpg ----- 1.00% Health ----- 0.75% Health ----- 0.50% Health ----- 0.25% Health -- Happy.jpg ----- 1.00% Health ----- 0.75% Health ----- 0.50% Health ----- 0.25% Health -- etc. etc. Okay, this is getting too much complicated.
  6. Wow... think about custom portraits; that would be a chore
  7. The suggested title has too many "e" letters. As you know "e" stands for "eeew", which sounds absolutely disgusting and would be a HUUUUUUUGE turnoff!
  8. Yeah, why not. As I said earlier - many people have many different opinions. I just like the second portrait a little more. BG1 pix are far more better (IMO again) then BG2 pix. The style, the art, the quality, they are superior in everything. I am not denying that, but surely *some* portraits, and most notably Imoen, really could have been drawn a lot better. Just the face, or her expression. The style is good, great even. I'm not sure my explanation is fairly understandable, but that's just the way I feel about it. Yeah, that's the way I roll, what's up wit' that, brah? PS. That last sentence is for the lulz.
  9. It's a matter of preference and chosen style and atmosphere. Also BG2 Imone >>> BG1 Imoen. BG2 Jaheria does look distorted, I'll give you that. Okay, there is this saying that there's no accounting for taste. For me BG1 Imoen will always be a redneck and BG2 Imoen will be an adventurer. And yes, BG2 Jaheira probably was to be drawn more bad-ass, yet someone went over the top and overdid it. But, as many people, so as many different opinions.
  10. Copy-paste my questions from another topic with no anserws: Speaking of cultures.... does anybody know are there some sort of distant cultural connections in the game? Stories, items, npc's and such? Warhammer, Forgotten Realms etc. had their equivalent (sort of) for East Europe, China, Japan, Araby, Mezoamericans. How much of the world is explored and what is the knowledge of other distant cultures in Dyrwood?
  11. Creating a character is time-consuming. But creating a character that you can identify with and/or have tremendous time playing needs time. Like in a pen-and-paper RPG - it is your character, so you gonna stick with it for some time. Better make it worth your while.
  12. What about resolutions? Or windowed gameplay - will it be implemented?
  13. Interesting idea. Or you just sell the paintings, the books, the pottery... and use the gold to buy +3 sword. Or +1 book?
  14. Baldur's Gate series, Icewind Dale series... either way great pictures. Doesn't matter to me, as long as Project Eternity portraits will have nothing in common with Neverwinter Nights portraits (yuk)
  15. A nice and clear vision. Interaction is a serious issue: the more, the better. After all we're talking about a singleplayer game, so clearly every NPC has their own mind, their own goals, and might interrupt the PC on several occasions during dialogues, or other activities. If there would be a multiplayer (but I'm not so rad about it), Your idea makes perfect sense @Osvir. Nice and easy. Still, interaction all the way.
  16. This is so true, yet You are talking about FPS' and RTS'. Wouldn't it be difficult to make something like a different game from a cRPG? Anyhoo, I tried some of the mods for Baldur's Gate series, Fallout Tactics and some were better, some were worse; none of them were perfect whatsoever. Story and/or mechanics related mods are not my first choice. This is because the new content usually has poor writing, the plot is weak, and new things added make the game so much easier. It would make a pretty damn good job for a really interesting modification of this sort. What are the mods that I like, then? Basically cosmetic changes, e.g.: removing ugly animations of some items that are worn in Baldur's Gate 2 (Cloak of Reflection animations are so damn annoying) changing the UI of conversations and barter in Fallout: New Vegas (finally a more Fallout-1-and-2-ish look, yay!) That's just it, small changes that are not changing the balance of the game, just are more pleasant for the eye. Still, we have to wait and see. I bet that the game "longevity" will stand by itself
  17. Speaking of cultures.... sorry if there is an answer somewhere on this board, but does anybody know are there some sort of distant cultural connections in the game? Stories, items, npc's and such? Warhammer, Forgotten Realms etc. had their equivalent (sort of) for East Europe, China, Japan, Araby, Mezoamericans. How much of the world is explored and what is the knowledge of other distant cultures in Dyrwood?
  18. Here's a thought. What about pausing the game? Is it possible to give us a chance to pause the game whenever we want? And I really do mean whenever. Like in a middle of a cut-scene?
  19. Crafting? Not important to me. But sure, whatever, as long as the story and characters will be awesome.
  20. Love the scripted sequences or what-do-you-call-em's. It gives that special feel to the old-school roleplayin' experience. Delivery date, y u no come faster?
  21. Reading just a few of the messages here makes me think some of you guys don't understand the mockup and think that it is really the UI from the game But come on! Wurms? I'm all like "whaa?".
  22. As I already said in my other post (over hya http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/63248-characters-from-games-that-you-hate-and-dont-whanna-see-in-pe-or-even-be-inspired/page-4?do=findComment&comment=1305834) I think monks are not a good medieval-RPG material, but still a good update to read. I love the culture concept! Vailian Republics reminds me of the Tilea and Estalia regions of the Old World from Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Being a huge fan of that setting, seeing more resemblences makes me even more excited. More classes comin' soon by any chance? Gimme moar, puah-leez.
