  1. Thank you for posting this! I've been scratching my head for ages trying to figure that out.
  2. Well that's a turn up for the books. I think this is the first time I have agreed with an IGN review for years.
  3. Gog would definately be easier for you in this circumstance.
  4. The Steam top ten is calculated by the games that are making the most money via the Steam store. Keys generated for sale elsewhere make no money via Steam and so are not counted.
  5. Can't we just celebrate the fact that Pillars of Eternity is doing so well and not turn this thread into yet another Steam vs Gog thread? There seems to be way too much of this going on at the moment. Support the companies you like by all means but there is no need to turn every thread into a pissing contest. Each to their own. The game is selling awesome - congrats Obsidian, go out and party, you've earned it.
  6. I've already told my husband that tomorrow will be Pizza ordering night as the game comes out in the afternoon here in the UK so there is no way I will be cooking anything for dinner when he gets home from work. Other than that I will be drinking lots of tea and may have a few bags of unsalted crisps on hand as emergency snacks for later on.
  7. I don't think Slish is asking you to buy more copies of the game. Raising awareness, contributing to discussions and answering people's questions on other forums, making posts about the game on any other social media that you use. Those are things that all of us can do.
  8. According to my Steam store page Pillars of Eternity just knocked Cities: Skylines off it's pedastal and is now sitting in second place. (Sorry Cities: Skylines)
  9. Just have to get through one more day... aargh. I want to wave a magic wand for instant transportation to 6pm GMT tomorrow so I can start creating my first character.
  10. I have no idea about resolution support. Steam cloud support is listed at the bottom right on the store page for the game. There's no financial implication for activating on either platform as far as I know.
  11. mmmmmmm pizza, stop teasing me! I don't have pizza but I do have homemade fishcakes and chips (fries for all you Americans) in the oven - they should be done in about 15 mins.
  12. Currently on my Steam store page it seems to be counting down to 6pm GMT on Thurs 26th so it may depend on your timezone but probably not.
  13. Valve's top ten doesn't work that way. It is based on the games that are currently making the most money in the Steam store. Keys generated to be given out elsewhere make no money for Steam and are not counted.
  14. They only have permission to play the first 15 hours of the game. Personally I'm staying far away as I don't want to be spoiled - I would much rather play the game myself though i understand the appeal for others. I love that Paradox are doing this. The community of gamers on Youtube and Steam is a massive marketing network that not enough games take full advantange of.
  15. Whenever there is a big game release that is obviously popular you will see the same thing. Most of the people making those kind of posts are just doing it to try and get a rise out of fans of the game. They are trying to get people to argue with them and create a negative atmosphere. If they break the Steam discussion forum rules and guidelines report their posts, otherwise ignore them. Create threads about the stuff that interests you, that you would rather see discussed instead.
  16. Nope - just checked again for the second time today - nobody on the Pillars of Eternity Steam forum is posting about preloading that I can see. Feel free to link to a thread where people are saying that if i missed it.
  17. The DRM part of Steam is optional though. Developers can choose not to use it with their games making it so that all you need to use Steam for is to download the game - start the game once to finish the installation/download then you can move the files elsewhere, uninstall the Steam client and play the game without it if you want to. List of DRM free games on Steam
  18. I'm not sure who told you this but there is nothing on the Pillars of Eternity Steam forums about people pre-loading already.
  19. So has anyone else noticed that Pillars of Eternity has crept up into Steams top ten list? It is sitting at number 4 for me in the UK between Arma 3 and CS:GO. Rock, Paper, Shotgun did a really great article on the game today .
  20. Every RPG where I have the choice I start as a Wizard. I've always loved the magic side of things, as with marelook however, I didn't last long with it in Skyrim - playing a pure mage was just made too much of a PITA.
  21. Multiple endings giving additional replay value are my preference - there simply are not enough choices in this poll for me to vote. And threatening to take away backing if you don't get your way is something that I'm extremely sad to see. I don't expect to be happy about every game choice made by the Devs - I hope that I will love the game, but I am fully prepared that I may not. I would hope that they will consider our opinions, but if they ultimately choose to take the game in a direction I might not be happy with that is their perogative. I gave Obsidian my money so that they could fund their dream, not mine.
  22. Am I the only person who loves the idea of ending up with piles of gold - making too realistic a monetary system would remove a fun aspect of the game for me. I love exploring for loot, then being able to sell what I find for piles of cash. This is not a sim - to hell with realism says I
  23. There will also be a large chunk of that gone on backer rewards. One reason why I always choose one of the digital options when pledging.
