  1. Every single game mechanic released so far is "healing the symptoms". Rest too much? = Dedicated rest spots. Walk back and forth for loot? = unlimited inventory. Get sad because your level 1 toon misses sometimes? = only 5% chance to miss. Like to heal between fights? = No field healing mechanic at all. Grind for experience? = no kill experience. All of these (except missing) were controllable by the players themselves until "Dur, me cant control self" somehow became a legitimate excuse and requires programs to cater to their compulsive disorders. I think all of those things you mentioned are great ideas that are much needed and will make the game better. I'm just as much of a fan of the IE games as you and I'm not a stupid idiot who can't control himself. From what I can recall from the individual threads for each of those ideas, there were a small handful of complainers and naysayers (whiners) who were consistently logically routed over many, many pages by nice folks who tried to explain why those mechanics are good. Rather than be passive aggressive about it here, how about going back to those threads and telling us again how you think those ideas and the people who like them are stupid? I'm sure there are lots of people willing to continue those discussions and explain how you are wrong. I dont need to review them, they all come down to the same point, "I cant control myself so I need you to control me". Whats not to understand? Its a single player game and if a person want to "ruin" the experience for themselves by playing "degeneratively" then thats on them. Just as I replied to Trashman question. One way lets everyone play how they wish, the other way forced eveyone to play as Sawyer wishes. Instead of crying about being a poor misunderstood snowflake, perhaps you can explain why its everyone elses problem to hold your hand while you play. They do not all come down to the same point, that's just how it seems to you because you're being stubborn and narrow minded. Not that I would bother to debate you on that personally - it's just when you start calling me "stupid" and "a poor misunderstood snowflake" who is "crying" that I have a problem. I never said you should review those threads, I said you should go back to those threads if you want to debate those ideas, where you can continue to be wrong and have it explained in detail why. This thread is about merchants, not the stash mechanic or regenerating stamina. I never called you stupid, you called you stupid, but I do have a hard time disagreeing. I was responding to a query from Trashman about why mechanics like these spring into existance. You dont need to worry yourself about what I post.

  4. Am I reading that right that McDonalds managers dont even earn $10 / hour?
  5. You'll get enough sleep when youre dead. Time to call the flirt.
  6. What about releasing their products over multiple DD sources? For example Obsidian is releasing P:E on Steam, GoG and (iirc) physical disks. Why wouldnt all developers follow suit and "cast the biggest net" for future releases? I guess my question is, what leverage does Steam use on future releases? A higher percentage of sales on Steam goes to the developer? Something else?
  7. Or, they'd be happily selling their games through other DD sellers, sellers with a lot less leverage over them.Is there anything preventing them from doing so now? Do they have to sign a contract with Steam for X amount of games or anything like that?
  8. I suppose he may have over wiped. I sure wish I hadnt Googled anal fistulas.
  9. Yeah, rectal bleeding is never a good sign. Im sitting here at my desk looking out the window, waiting for the anywhere from 3-7" of snow that is coming our way. Should make for a nice pleasant 2.5 hour ride home.
  10. I guess Im in the Steam rox camp. Its highly convenient and has been 100% reliable for me. I just dont have the energy to muster up rage if it doesnt work for someone else/harshes their sensibilities/DRM ending the world, etc...
  11. Character screen looks nice and detailed. I didnt back this but its looking like a day 1 purchase for me. There are two Shadowruns coming out, right? This one and some mmo/browser/online version? I want the former.
  12. People that have contributed the $8 and still do have their custom title should send a PM to Fionavar (head moderator) to have their title changed.
  13. Thats not entirely the case. Both your Stamina and Health will be reduced with every successful attack against you, so 95% of the time. Only Stamina regenerates and to regain Health you have to go somewhere and sleep it off. So it will be a common occurance that you will be at full Stamina and low Health, alllowing the next attack to kill you.
  14. I havent played any of Bioware's recent franchises (ME, DA) except for TOR.
  15. I use my bank card for literally 100% of my transactions. I have not carried cash in years. What does Bitcoin do different / better?
  16. Amazing how almost every single word was misspelled. I think the part you quoted says "these are the best ones".
  17. So this is PayPal without the oversight? Give them real money and they will give you digital money? Sounds like a good way to get jacked.
  18. I think people are confusing nation building with warfare. Im willing to go out on a limb and say, currently, there isnt a nation on earth that could defeat the US in 1-1 warfare of regular forces. Hell, I dont think NATO could defeat the US but those Germans are a capable bunch.
  19. Were already going to be playing rock/paper/scissors with our weapon sets to get around the crushing/slicing/piercing so Im sure you could do the same with arrows. Just put one quiver of each kind into a weapon set.
  20. Hmm, I dont care for the idea that it should soulbound to one person and cant be sold or passed to another party member. What about legendary / named weapons? That would basically reduce their utility to whoever you handed it to first. What if that NPC gets chunked or you switch them out for a different one? Then the weapon is worthless? Whatever properties you selected for it while it leveled up should be permanent but anyone should be able to use it. Its not really an issue anyway because everyones weapon would be levelling up also. Imo, such a system should award xp on each hit, not each kill.
  21. Ironically, a levelling weapon would have to earn kill XP.
  22. I see where you are coming from. By endgame, I prefer high magic and powerful weapons. Im all for atmosphere, cool lore, or being able to enchant or quest for it, or making it by assembling pieces.
  23. It would be cool to have weapons that earned experience and thus leveled up the more you used them. But using the same Mundane Barrel Sword the whole game? No thanks.
  24. Vince: "Did you just order a six dollar fries?" Malcador: "Ummhh." Vince: "It's fries. That's just potato." Malcador: "Last I heard." Vince: "That's six dollars? You don't put mayo on it or nothin'?" Malcador: "No." Vince: "Just checking." /Pulp Fiction
