I finally got through and bought it. I see it has a multiplayer component so maybe after I get my feet wet we can get a game going, time zones permitting.

Great game. One of the better recent 4X (or is it 4E? ) games. It is very user friendly, with tooltips for everything. Diplomacy kinda seems to work (which is sadly not a given in games). the visuals are beautifull. You have a lot of research options. It does a lot of things well. Combat was something people did not enjoy originally, but apparently the Disharmony expansion takes care of that. I haven't tried the expansion yet. The problem may mostly be that by doing everything quite unobtrusivly well, people easily overlook that it is a very well made game. In other games you can say gameplay sucks but the story is awesome. Or graphics are crap but the gameplay is the best ever. In Endless Space you don't really get that kind of high and low: it is a very well crafted game which had a possibly disappointing rock/paper/scissor combat. And that leaves people remembering the one thing they disliked and forget that they have nothing to say about the rest because everything else worked unobtrusively in the background, letting players enjoy the game. SOLD! Thank you for the feedback.

Any opinions on Endless Space? Looks cool but has a crap metacritic score.
  5. Is that wing a shield strapped to her back?
  6. Lets see: Dream: A game that captures my imagination and plays like the BG series. Dread: Almost every mechanic described so far. I have a feeling that Divinity: Original Sin is going to be the game I hoped PE would be and that PE is trending more towards Age of Decadence.
  7. Thank god you guys werent cavemen, you wouldn't make fire for fear of getting burned. I agree that humans are both the biggest weakness and greatest strength but progress marches on and humans will be phased out of war fighting as soon as we figure out how to get machines to do it for us. Im just glad we have a giant head start!
  8. Aye. But think of the possibilities!
  9. Navy drone X-47B lands on carrier deck in historic first.
  10. How does this compare to the PC release?
  11. ^I had read the opposite, that the hospital was very understanding and had offered support because they understood she was duped. Youre saying that she was fired over that situation?
  12. I cant quite wrap my head around that. So there wont be any type of skills, like for example Whirlwind, which is solely a combat skill but instead the skills will be more like a generic ability that does something but also helps out in combat?
  13. This bums me out most of all. Why? It's how it worked in IE games. I know, I think Ive just become spoiled by D3. Isnt there something else like the party travels at the speed of its slowest member?
  14. Huh, I did not know that. I also didn't remember multiple weapons slots in the BG series. I never once used them and didn't notice any difference, so hopefully I can completely ignore it in PE. Switching weapons sets for every character for every fight is not something Im looking forward to.
  15. What does this mean? There isn't any healing so that's already out. Does he mean that on Normal difficulty stamina will regenerate so fast you wont need Stamina potions? What is he calling "consumable"?
  16. Meh, maggots are pure protein. I kid, I probably would have vomited into the can. Speaking of unholy vomit, something got into my poor dog yesterday. I get home from work to see her suspiciously hiding behind the dining room table. This is a dead give away that she has a guilty conscience over something she did. Then I notice a huge puddle of vomit in the middle of the kitchen. Then I see more in the living room. Then more on the middle landing of the stairs where she like to lay. Then more at the top. Then more in my bedroom. And finally finishing up in the master bathroom. I felt so bad for her I couldn't even get mad about picking it all up.
  17. You mean just like Baldur's Gate? Where every character had additional slot for alternative weapon and fighters had four of them? Dunno. I think I vaguely remember crushing weapons being better against skeletons but I may be making that up in my head. Are you saying the BG series also played rock/paper/scissors wrt certain weapon types being optimized against certain armor types?
  18. Welcome syn2083!
  19. I believe he is referring to the fact that PE combat is going to be a series of rock/paper/scissors. All party members will have two or more "weapon sets" that will allow each character to rapidly change their weapons. This is being implemented because they are also adding "flavor" by each type of weapon (crushing, piercing, slashing) being "best" against certain types of armor. (IE: War hammers (crushing) are better than a dagger (piercing) against plate armor.) So your characters will be constantly be switching weapon sets, even within the same battle.
  20. I almost always play "good" and do the right thing although I played SWTOR as an evil bastage that took the dark side choice every time. In case you aren't aware, there is no alignment system in PE, only "reputations".
  21. Tis a shame. I guess we'll never know the joy of repairing 2-3 weapon sets x 6 people, per rest. YOU DAMN DIRTY APES!
