As opposed to the nasty things that will definitely happen to them if they leak secret information?

Im for a resting mechanic exactly like the IE games. You can rest most places, some places you could not, and there was always a threat of random encounters unless you were in an inn. I don't get why some of you just want a game where every mechanic has some form of punishment, all in the name of your ideas of "realism". Why wouldn't the thieves respawn? Because they are dead. The whole camp isn't going to be reinforced while you rest for 8 hours. The dungeon should respawn full every time you rest? What? Even if it did, whats the point? Lets say you get half way through a dungeon level and have to rest because your friggin Health has zero mechanics to replenish besides sleeping ( ). So your party pops a squat and rests. Now the enemies behind you that you already cleared have respawned and you still have the enemies ahead of you that you didn't go through yet. Who cares about the respawn behind you? Nobody going to go back through that area anyway because you already cleared it. Unless you are proposing that the player should have to evacuate the entire floor and go back to town to rest, which sounds like a pile of suck.

Youre entitled to your opinion and I respect that. To me its a meh because its something that's been going on since before my birth and Im totally unaffected by it. I also understand that its not for everybody. I actually support programs like this and have no problem with ECHELON, or the natural evolution (to include cellular, internet) PRISM. I don't have a problem with the whistleblower either (because I thought these programs were common knowledge anyway). Its good for people to keep their governments honest even if it involves falling on your own sword. That poor bastard is screwed.

I suppose, but that's kind of an unwieldy swinging motion. I believe most blows are delivered from an overhand or parallel swinging motion and that's why scale type armors overlap from top to bottom, like the scales of a fish. Yeah, I just found the design interesting since, to me, it seems to go directly against what I would want my armor to do. Scale armor absorbs and redirects blows to slide down / away but your example of lamellar looks like it would almost catch a sword blade in its plates because they are open at the top.
-
Im not familiar with Lamellar but the scales seem to overlap in the wrong direction. On first appearances, it looks like any downward blow would slide easily into one of those gaps and penetrate.

Honestly, I don't have the interest to get into a circle jerk over terminology. ECHELON is "capable of interception and content inspection of telephone calls, fax, e-mail and other data traffic globally through the interception of communication bearers including satellite transmission, public switched telephone networks (which once carried most Internet traffic) and microwave links. If you think that this tool is kept offline until they have a REALLY good reason or that it has not been used on its own citizens then I don't know what to tell you.

What? I haven't made any other comments on this matter except to point out it been going on for longer than we've all been alive, which most of you don't even seem to realize. That's right, its likely even your parents are archived in some database. What goal posts have I changed btw?

Yes, it has. Does this blow your mind?

Rolf. Its a program that's been ongoing for more than 50 years. If people are just now deciding the sky is falling then I find that to be disingenuous in the least and an outright uneducated Chicken Little mentality at its worst.

Shrewd move on their part. And its ridiculous to think that a $100.00 per unit difference will drive them out of business.

Whats being done now is the status quo for the last 50+ years. What do you feel should be done? Lets move this discussion beyond faux moral outrage. Do you guys honestly feel a government should never monitor its citizens?

For lack of a better thread to put this: AMD unveils first eight-core 5GHz processor.

Say hello to ECHELON. Big Brother-ing your asses since the 60's. And Im totally sure its only ever been used to monitor the bad guys. Totally.
-
Im sure the government has had, and used, the capability to monitor all communications for decades. Besides the lol moral outrage, do you guys really think this is new?

Is that a 40 hour / week gig?

When I was a wee lad growing up in Florida I once had a c0ckroach run out from under the washing machine, across the floor, and up my pant leg. I still have night terrors. (j/j)

I don't mind spiders and will usually leave them alone, unless they come down to the ground. Now millipedes, centipedes and scorpions? Those really freak me out and I will stomp them to paste if I see one.

Using Magic (Mana? No Mana?)
Gfted1 replied to Frenetic Pony's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
To be clear, when you guys are saying per rest, you mean the player will have to go all the way back to the special "rest spot" and set up camp to replenish those spells? Sounds like the Vancian system which, iirc, they were trying to get away from. -
Congrats Bokishi! What does that mean in actual work?

From what I understand, spells will be "memorized" by being queued in your grimoire, which has a finite amount of slots. They can then be cast at will but are on a cool down which varies in length by the level of the spell.
