Why not allow instant death of sleeping/unconscious targets?
I stand corrected. So Accuracy can be presumed to be the equivalent of "+ to hit" and Defense would be equivalent to armor class? The Accuracy increase I suppose I can hand wave and say sure, you should be more accurate as you level up (gain skill in battle) but how to explain having better defense due to level up? Is my plate armor better now that Im level 10 as opposed to level 9? Do you have any other links showing details to this system?

Why not allow instant death of sleeping/unconscious targets?
I think its already planned to be in the game. Iirc, one of the devs said that enemies can perform a coup de gras on any unconscious party members so perhaps we can do the same? Im not sure of this though. Also, as you probably already know, there is only a 5% of missing anyway regardless of level differences so you probably wont get frustrated by that.

E3 Thread - 2013 Edition
I know you said high profile games, but do you think the recent trend of Kickstarter games being released DRM free on GoG will change this?

How "grindy" will the game be?
Oh, but I do know. I purchased the strategy guide. That's what I usually do. You should have seen how many times I saved and reloaded while using the Machine of Lum the Mad in BG2. It would have made gaming purist crap themselves with rage. And here lies the true challenge. While your rogue could really use the exampled gauntlets, your mage probably has no use. So whats "good" for one may not be "good" for all.

How "grindy" will the game be?
Perhaps we should do like they did with Wastelands 2 forums and start a 'Quest ideas' thread to see what sort of original notions we can come up with? There's bound to be a nugget or two they could use. Great idea! Start one up.

How "grindy" will the game be?
Hmm, Im not so sure about that. If weve learned anything from prior "degenerative gameplay" discussions its that apparently most players are utterly incapable of controlling their actions and will always take the path of least resistance or whatever rewards the best loot, even if it destroys their own enjoyment of the game. If the only way to get those boss gauntlets is to pry them off his cold dead fingers then that's what everyone will do.

How "grindy" will the game be?
You have it backwards. All the tough guys think the IE games are fatally flawed by allowing players to play as they wish. The new "modernized" PE game removes gratification and replaces it with kicking you in the balls every 3 seconds. Seriously though, with quests rewards being the sole conduit of experience points I sure hope they are varied and interesting and don't turn into a dump of collection quests.

How "grindy" will the game be?
I think this will be a very helpful tool for determining which mooks are trash mobs and which mooks are worth bothering to kill. Trash mooks will drop your every day filler loot to be sold to merchants but the Good Stuff will most likely be in set piece battles ala BG2 (IE: Twisted Rune drops Staff of the Magi, Frikraag drops Holy Avenger). IMO, this will telegraph who to bother with and who to avoid, which I will appreciate in PE. Ive never heard of the "you can see the loot on them in minute detail" mentioned earlier. Cant imagine that level of detail being present in an isometric view.

Solving The Rest Problem: Limited resting, or respawning enemies?
I wonder this as well. I'd have to assume you'll have regions of relative "safety" (more rest zones than spots) with smaller areas of... "unrest," (I couldn't resist), and other regions of relative danger (or otherwise-preventing-extended-rest factors) in which the majority of the area will not allow resting, and only small spots will allow it. I highly doubt it'll be just little dots throughout the entirety of the traversable map. I am anticipating more official info on this, in general, though. I figure there will have to be some kind of visual indication. Were already being forced to go to specific areas just to rest, I cant imagine the design would also force us to press the rest button every 10 feet until we get lucky and find the sweet spot.

What's on the idiot box...
My wife loves those crime shows too and has several different ones set to record on the DVR. Theres on called Snapped which seem to be specifically about female killers. I wonder if I should be worried.

Prism Program ( Big Brother gone too far?)
I don't follow. They released it to the press, so effectively, everyone in the world. Can you expand your thoughts on this?

Afaik, yes.

Solving The Rest Problem: Limited resting, or respawning enemies?
I wonder how they will indicate in game when you are in a rest spot. Perhaps a conveniently placed campfire along the path? A flashy thing on your map?

Solving The Rest Problem: Limited resting, or respawning enemies?
I was envisioning something like: vanish, stab, vanish, stab. I don't have any idea how stealth works in PE but couldn't a rogue re-vanish after attacking in the IE games?

Solving The Rest Problem: Limited resting, or respawning enemies?
Can you provide a link to where they discuss aggro mechanics? I hadn't heard of that and am interested in reading up on how it will be handled.

Solving The Rest Problem: Limited resting, or respawning enemies?
So whats to keep you from switching weapon sets to overcome DT like every other class? Most likely they will have to add some restrictions to the weapons that can be used when you deliver a Finishing Blow. So whittle the mook down with whatever overcomes their DT and then switch weapons and deliver the kill shot?

Solving The Rest Problem: Limited resting, or respawning enemies?
Ive got an idea for an uber character. Start with a rogue, choose whichever race offers rogue bonuses, and pump stealth and diplomacy every opportunity. At default, you will be able to hide and kill better than any other class and the diplomacy will carry you for all other occasions. Ive never had a rogue as my main either so this will kill two birds with one stone for me, open up classes Ive never played while still catering to the murder machine I like my toons to become.

Huh, so rogues will do the most dps.

How "grindy" will the game be?
Aye, but whats the point? Unless you as a player enjoy combat (I do), then combat seems to be a negative return as it will cost you resources to win the battles and time to go back to a rest spot to heal from the battles. Ive never played a diplomatic character in my life, maybe this will be a good opening for me.
