  1. That's because BG:EE is basically just an installation of BGTutu with a bunch of mods. IIRC, virtually all of its new technology is stuff that was developed on the major modding sites, with various more-or-less minor updates. And since Weimer's Icewind Gate flickered out in early development like a decade ago ... yeah. That's not true, the enhanced addition runs way smoother and I'm glad I bought it. The easily reconfigurable key bindings+improved inventory is a big plus as well. It's admittedly hard to justify considering I already own the originals in various other formats, but I've bought and will continue to buy the EE versions. Easy Steam install is easy.

  3. Fine. Done right is better than done soon.
  4. There was a mysterious ~18MB update to the beta yesterday. Any idea what this was?
  5. Gah... terminology. "Race" = human, elf, dwarf, etc. Skin tone and other broad categories of physical appearance within race/species = ethnicity.
  6. I've never liked D&D DMs who were strict about playing to your alignment. Too much silly role playing, not enough freedom to react to what you're presented with in game. Reputation makes much more sense to me.
  7. They've said an OS X beta is on the way. I'd be pretty surprised if the same isn't true for Linux. FWIW, I'll be testing the Linux version once it appears.
  8. Quick, somebody capture that white board pic and run it through the Blade Runner image processor. Enhance!
  9. One neck slot? I can't wear a medallion and a jaunty cravat? Immersion broken.
  10. You can't respond with "irrelevant" to a PC specs request and expect to be taken seriously. For me, the game has noticeable frame rate issues and other graphical glitches which have been amply reported by others, but it doesn't stress my PC even slightly. ---- i7-870 8GB GTX-770 Windows 8.1 Running at 1920x1200
  11. I normally just use edge scrolling in IE games, but since this is currently a bit broken for multi-monitor setups in PoE, I've been using the keyboard. Rebinding to WASD works fine for me. It's even saving the setting now, which it wasn't doing in the first build.
  12. I suppose intimate knowledge of how the sausage is made kills suspension of disbelief a bit but, let's face it, you'd spend a lot of time diving into game systems even if PoE were dumped on your lap as a completed product. It's all about content spoilers for me. If they add more maps to this beta, I'll have to seriously consider not going any further.
  13. How is a character "genuinely good" if that character is doing nasty things? I'm presuming reputation in PoE is based on your character's actions, not lies spread by enemies. Alignment is kind of meaningless if it only exists in the character's head.
  14. In build 278: Bug1 -- Fresh game. Started all quests in town, did several quick saves, saved in a new slot, and loaded from that save. Ran around town starting all available quests and saving/loading a few times. Took quickest path to ogre cave, killing minimum number of creatures. Fought and killed Ogre. Went immediately back to town and talked to Rumbald. I can see ogre head in my quest items, but Rumbald doesn't acknowledge it and quest can't be completed. Bug2 -- Fresh game. Started all quests in town, did some quick saves, loaded from quick save. Bought two grappling hooks in town. Confirmed they persist in my main character's inventory through save loads. Go to Crossing and head up to dragon's egg zone. Fight party guarding the egg. During the fight, my main goes down. After winning the fight, my main revives. The grappling hooks have disappeared from his inventory, and can't be used to climb the cliff.
  15. Out of curiosity, was this after starting a new game post patch? or after reloading an old pre-patch saved game and continuing it post-patch if that makes sense? Fresh game. I deleted all saves the last time I played (a few days ago).
  16. Ogre quest still bugged for me. Beat the big fella and I can see his head in my quest items, but talking to Rumbald doesn't complete the quest. And, yep, this was after a ton of saving/loading.
  17. I haven't looked closely enough at the data files to know, but I'm guessing any small change to a data file or part of a file is going to require that file be rewritten to Steam. This doesn't likely mean they've made 1.7GB worth of changes. Edit: typo
  18. Maybe, maybe not. Just assume always starting new games for a new build is a wise policy.
  19. I think you know the answer to that question.
  20. Don't we already have a thread or two dedicated to arguing XP? Moderation, please.
  21. Didn't IWD2 reuse a bunch (all?) the IWD1 portraits? And? They were great whether they were reused or not. Not saying they aren't, but it seems a bit lazy. Caveat: I don't actually remember how many were reused. I'll have to check later.
