ID@Xbox / Windows 10?
Flow replied to zmally's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The devs have said many times that there are no plans for a consolized version of PoE. Of course, I never would have imagined WL2 for console, so who knows. Maybe some day. -

GoG or Steam ?
Flow replied to ruzen's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well that's a bold-faced lie if there ever was one. That, or ignorance. Do you have data showing that over 50% of the games on GOG were released after the rise of the DRM? When exactly did DRM "rise", and how do you define it? Copy protection has been around since the 70s. Then there's the various forms of non-software protections... code wheels, picking out words from manual pages, etc. -
Update #88: Final Sprint and... Release Date!
Flow replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Heh... GTA5 no longer releasing the same week as PoE. Probably good news. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-5-pc-release-date-delayed-again/1100-6425490/ -
GOG EU priceing

It's been available for pre-order for awhile... http://www.gog.com/game/pillars_of_eternity_hero_edition -
We've only got the BB content to judge by, but using basic tactics magic users have been very effective for me. Use a couple of fighters to engage and hold the line while you move a couple of magic users to the flanks for line-of-sight to the enemy rear. Then AoE 'til you win. As of now, the AI mostly doesn't seem smart enough to engage squishy damage dealers even if they're off in the corner totally unprotected.

Update #90: Shipping and Strategy Guide
Flow replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
If the only "seal" is a box flap, is that going to piss off collectors? Remember.. these boxes are not meant for retail. There's no real reason to seal them. Are backers who really, really want a physical manual to read before they play the game more or less ridiculous than people who don't want to open the box? Whatever they do, Obsidian is going to make some people unhappy. All they can do is ask for majority opinion. Hence the poll. I agree the ideal solution would be to allow people to select on the backer portal whether they want delayed or immediate shipment. Who knows.. if enough people make a stink, maybe Obsidian will do that.- 330 replies

Backer Reward Shipment Poll
Flow replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Did you read the update? If Obsdian thought the extra shipping was going to be a problem, they probably wouldn't be telling us... -
For games that fund significantly beyond the original goal, delivery dates are meaningless. I don't even consider them worth talking about. Failing to deliver promised features is a different story. The dozen or so games I've backed have come through mostly as promised or seem to be well on the way. We'll see. Really, though, I have to ask why anyone would back Peter Molyneux. When you're looking at a Kickstarter pitch, all you've got to go on is the reputation of the team. Nothing about Molyneux's past would make me think he'd deliver as promised.

Ah, good. I love being able to zoom way out. Choosing between that and epeenments would make me sad. -

Backer Reward Shipment Poll
Flow replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I asked about this awhile ago. The answer was vague. I suspect they'll just make manual patch files available for download via the backer portal. -

Given Paradox's involvement, I suspect European shipping will go more smoothly than normal. -
Backer Reward Shipment Poll
Flow replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
My thoughts exactly. I don't even want the disc to be shipped to me later, who uses discs anyway? Go with #1, add an option to the backer portal for additional disc shipping (make it disabled by default) and whoever wishes to get a physical disc for whatever reason, send it to them without additional cost. So people would need to "opt in" to receive items they backed? Nah. Bad idea. -
Backer Reward Shipment Poll
Flow replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Don't care and it's unlikely I'll ever install from my disc anyway. Since Obsidian prefers option 1, I'll go with that. I totally understand the "pristine sealed collector's copy" idea, but what sort of seal are people expecting? No one shrink wraps PC game boxes anymore, and given that these aren't meant for retail there's no need for security tape. -

Full screen.

Occasionally, cage cursor stops working. Usually rather obvious in that the cursor starts wandering off onto my second monitor and no longer scrolls at screen edge. The temporary fix is: 1. Open graphics options. 2. Uncheck "Cage Cursor" 3. Close options 4. Re-open options, check "Cage Cursor", and close. It's now OK again until the next time in breaks. Unfortunately I don't have a foolproof method for reproducing this, but it happened at least 10 times during my most recent playthrough. It seems to be intermittently triggered by anything that causes a full screen transition out of the game window. Loading a save, leveling up, camping, etc.

different languages
Flow replied to Madscientist's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I suspect there are lunatics fans already planning to re-record the voice acting in their native languages. Might be a fun project. Find some drama students and pay them in sandwiches.
