  1. Actually my idea was that the keep on top of the Mega Dungeon would make for a great stronghold and allow the Megadungeon to have quests that influence the stronghold and vice versa. Your idea would fit with that.
  2. I think different areas will have different tech levels. The free Palatinate of Dyerwood would probably have Late Medevil tech, while the Vialian Republic would be more renassiance. A random Orlan village might be bronze or stone age. And I prefer high fantasy for magic myself. I'm fine with gun powder and muskets or whatever. Although when descussing the midevil period tech, some people seem to forget that it was called the Dark Ages for a reason, the previous Roman era was far more advanced in many areas, not all, but many. So I wouldn't mind seeing some Roman level technology too. Also remember that these cultures maybe inspired by certain earth eras, but they have thier own history and potent magics and the like so don't expect historical recreation.
  3. Who says exploring can't be a quest/goal or lead to quests/goals? Like searching around you find a lost puppy by accident and save it for XP. Also concider the possiblity of bounty quests from merchants and authoroties. Like a Merchant needs werewolf pelts and other local body parts, so if you sell him enough to do whatever, you get xp. Or a local Paladin gives a reward for any bandits, dead or alive, and each time you complete this quest/goal you get xp. Or maybe an Old Cartographer gives you a quest to find new areas for him so for each area that you full explore, in which nothing is left hidden, you get xp. Not to mention enemies will still have loot.

  5. No worries, you add in paypal and the last Goal has been achieved. I still want a better idea from obsiden of what Enhanced game play means. Still... congratulations Obsiden!!! Love to know the paypal numbers.

  8. Its nice to have someone who understands what I'm getting at. I agree also that money for polishing was inherant to the game and asking for polishing as a stretch goal is incredibly insulting to Obsidian, its saying your expecting a buggy game in the first place. Two when they have all the money they need for polishing, which honestly they already do, what do the the rest? Spend it on Hookers and Blow as someone else suggested on these forums (btw that still makes me LMFAO).

  10. I think Necromancers would the Paranormal investators of our world mixed with Skeptics, some don't trust the words of the Gods, others feel what they do brings them closer to the Gods. Necromancers would get a measure of thier power from the cycle of reincarnation itself, so they not just interested in death, but the whole cycle birth, life, death, and the after life as well as undeath and or beating the cycle of rebirth buddha style. That's your unique twist to Necromancers.
  11. Hahaha Actually had a strange idea for a Dark Elf type race, Elves who have evovled in Ob Nua itself, thier ancestors having gotten trapped in the mega dungeon and twisted by it. The Ob Nua Elves. How cool would that be?
  12. This poll offends me because its a false choice, only a segment of the funds generated by a stretch goal go to the Stretch goal, the rest goes to polishing things and what not. Secondly games go out buggy because publishers force developers to put it out before its ready. The OP is manipulating people by generating a false perception so because they want fewer options. Here's the thing, without the motivating force of stretch goals , fewer people will donate fewer people donating means less polish, not more. If you want more polish cool stretch goals are the way to go. Think about it.
  13. You know if it hits 4.4 million it will quadruple the intial asking amount instead of just trippling it. New 4.4 million stretch goal!
  14. Lots of optional quests so you can tailor the game to your tastes. Want short focus on the main plot line, want long do everything.
  15. They already do that with every stretch goal, its not like a 100 percent of the money towards a stretch goal goes to the stretch goal, much of it goes to general improvement of the game. If general improvement is the sundea, then the stretch goal is the cherry on top. As I said in other threads, another exotic race or two first say 3.6 million, Necromancers and Demonologists/Cultist at 3.8 millions, another Big City at 4 million.
  16. At 3.6 million couple more races, 3.8 million Necromancers and Demonologists or Cultists of Necromanticon type beings. At 4 million a third city.
  17. Venice, but more fantasical believe the city has been said to be Vialian and thier language is based off Italian. Of course we don't know anything about the first city, but I suspect it will be the Capital city of the Free Palatinate of the Dyrwood.
  18. I finally pledged and did the liking on facebook(ick). I wanted to be part of the spike I hear about. Kickstarter is at 3,364,000 dollars. Add in 100,000 dollars and that's 3,464,000. With 20 hours to go 36,000 is needed. I'm a hundred percent certain that will be achieved. At 7,000 dollars an hour over 20 hours that would be an extra 140,000 dollars.
  19. I look at the Adventurer's hall as being a cross between an unemployment office and a guild. Also people assume that hiring adventurers will be the only thing you can do in the Adventurer Hall. I suspect they'll be stores, maybe banking services, crafting station, quest givers, healing, info, resting, special previliages and services, pets and so on. Also really whats the difference between a quest to hire someone and a quest to gain the gold to pay for someone?
  20. I'll probably stick with maimed mode. Its still a consquence of defeat, your characters going to be useless until you rest. A spell like a santurary type spell that makes an area safe for resting will be valueable.
  21. Since slavery is an issue for this game and the stamina mechanic in theory should allow you to capture an oppentant alive, should it be possible to sell them into slavery? One possible mechanic for this would be a magic slave pen as part of your stronghold, capture slaves and teleport them to the pen. This would hurt your rep amoung abolutionists.
  22. Did you read the lore on the God of Light and that farmer who became an avatar of that God and ended up blown up by the Godhammer bomb? As for why anyone would fear getting sick when priests can just heal them, its called bankrupacy, something millions of poor Americans have experienced. I like this new God, he's more then just God of Death, he/she is more complicated, God of Life and Death, doors and cycles with the latter two domains being attached as methors for the reincarnation cycle. Also like the whole necromancy angle, I can see a Paladin devoted to protecting the science of necromancy Its all very grey, instead of evilness. I get why thier is no resurrection spell, but why no reincarnation spell?
