  1. YAY! Happy Easter, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. That story about the beta patch notes that blinked by here - it just gets me even more excited. Give us the beta already! We wanna check out all the new stuff, pretty please!
  3. [Youtube] Yeah, a casual traffic-solving shot over the shoulder...
  4. KUyE6X - I now own this US registered car! I googled it, and it was a car, and now I managed to register it. A 1999 Toyota Corolla. Thx, Obsidian!
  5. Ah, Thursday! Beta backer update, and then a juicy beta patch for us to ruminate over the Easter weekend, all in order to optimize our amount of testing.
  6. Given the amount of codes and how crazy big the Obsidian pet menagerie is for the Deadfire, with all the new features and our ship as a pet pen, and gamer magazines with pet codes, isn't the most likely scenario that these codes unlock Deadfire pets, nothing more, nothing less? No codes to break, just codes to enter for more pet variety.
  7. @PatrioticChief:
  8. Hello previously unknown RPG tendencies internet soulmate! Growing my PnP group always played two characters each (so the DM wouldn’t feel bad about killing off characters). I just remembered that and realized that this is probably why I am so used to role playing multiple characters simultaneously and imagining their elaborate interpersonal relationships. Like that between my scoundrel, perpetually drunken, recalcitrant fighter/cleric, Mittens Murderfists, and his constantly exasperated partner-in-crime, thief-with-a-heart-of-gold, Friar. Howdy, fellow schizophrenic RPGer! We ran several campaigns where three players played two characters each, and they were a blast. I still have fond memories of those. I'm sure peeps like us are more used to filling in RP action in situs like these!
  9. True. I've managed to shake off scripted land encounters more than once, and in all beta patches. I should have known that there was something fishy going on, and I'm not talking about the Lagufaeth or some sharkman lover here.
  10. Honestly not sure which is worse. Having played tonnes of computer games in the 80s, I'm even getting nostalgic thinking about 2, so 1 is clearly worse. The true horror about Deadfire? I've been bribed off not to tell you guys, as have all the beta testers, but I can't take this anymore! Deadfire doesn't exist in the form they've let you see in all the footage. Noticed how all the images taken from the beta are like from 10 locations with very few monsters and scripted interactions? That's because that's all there is! It's just a facade. The rest of the game is either vaporware or, if Katrina's desperate text to me the day before she left can be trusted, a classic text game, where you type N, W, E, and S, in order to "move around" in the game. And then you press a few other keys to have your roleplaying moments. Rumour has it that they ripped off the Never-ending Story text adventure. Gosh, that was one frustrating game! In short, Deadfire will suck beyond belief, even for old muppets like me!
  11. Today, Josh confirmed that a new backer beta update is on its way, with Might reinserted and Resolve reinforced, amongst other things.
  12. Although I was a proponent for having Strength a long time ago during the PoE1 backer beta, I've now come around and seen the hands of light (Boeroer ). This change we'll mean that Pillars of Eternity will keep one of the features that made it a bit unique in the history of CRPGs, for starters, and I have a feeling it will also open up new and in a way renew a few of the older PoE builds, steeped in the Deadfire ruleset.
  13. If I do! Making schizophrenic custom made parties is my long and cumbersome middle name. I love doing that. I always have, even when I started out playing PnP RPGs a long time ago.
  14. I agree, the spoilers are few and mild, but I just wanted to be sure. Perhaps I exaggerated.
  15. I just found this article in PcGamer. Mind you, reading it contains spoilers about locations that you may visit, the geographical scope of PoE2, upcoming DLC hints, as well as info about factions, Pallegina and Tekehu. Have a nice read! And Garsten certainly was a true pro. Great interview from her! Here we also get a comprehensive insight into her role in Deadfire: https://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/article/634352/pillars-eternity-2-producer-katrina-garsten-introduces-us-deadfire-archipelago/
  16. Yeah, when I did my solo PoftD run with a cipher I used up a whole cheese grotto. I did the start with meta knowledge from earlier games, and sold stuff with that super early camp, killed a few select single target NPCs, then sold all their stuff, bought early spider figurine, and good items, and I did all easy and "safe" quests, in order to level up faster. My main tactic was sneaking past almost everything. But I must admit that Caed Nua, already the courtyard, was very hairy stuff. But once you got your strategy working, it actually gets easier after that.
  17. After some pondering, I'm almost certain there will be another backer beta now (at least). We have over 50 days until release, and Obsidian get great testing and feedback here that they can consider and adapt to if they want, even if any adjustments will be made after the release at May 8. They've absolutely nothing to lose, and especially if Josh wants to fine-tune stats and systemic elements affecting combat - this is a neat place to try such stuff out in. If he reinstates Might and needs to boost Resolve a bit - just send a beta update this way, and we'll merrily give it a whirl or two. More backer beta is on the way, mark my words. No guarantees, though.
  18. I won't touch any level scaling with a stick. I love to smash my head against too tough encounters, but I also enjoy passing through content that I've out-levelled. Having played Dungeon Siege 2 recently, I felt that it did all this the way I like it. Skyrim's constant scaling or MotB super gnolls are choking our sense of progress, achievement and fun. Let the game world reflect the development and journey of my party, pretty please.
  19. Overall, pathfinding feels much more solid and reliable in the Deadfire beta than PoE1 (at least the earlier versions, which I played for the most part). However, I agree that them traps certainly make me tear my hair out, watching single party members seemingly beelining for a certain injury.
  20. Toeing the line just for spite. I didn't realize that doing this repeatedly was an art form. To me, it's simply coming across as tiresome, enervating and disrespectful to Obsidian as well as to their forum visitors.
  21. A farmer in northern Sweden wanted his cows to stay safe, so he climbed up on the barn roof in order to remove loads of snow. Well, here's what happened next. Stupid cows! Now we all know why that expression is more than just some mild swearing/insult.
  22. Yeah, only the consequences merit some kind of serious response, sometimes...
  23. I rather not see a thread get closed because you're angry over one troll you can easily ignore. One of the things I like about this board is mods not closing every topic because someone gets angry. I wouldn't even have made my post if my concern was personal in some way. So, no, I'm not angry in the slighest. And what I talk about has really nothing to with "trolling" or some "troll". I am simply concerned about Obsidian as a company, both as a fan and a company owner myself. Forum playground squabble stuff, I couldn't care less about.
