  1. I reckon, Wormerine is correct in his interpretation of what Josh wrote. And I think I wouldn't mind this. I still remember what Might did, but please remind me: Exactly how did PoE1 Resolve work?
  2. Ultra powerful is no ordinary power. It's transcendent power, where you break the game being surreptitiously under-powered.
  3. In STR/RES model (assuming everything is like in the Deadfire beta): -For each attack or spell, a percentage that you'll get one higher Penetration: If you have Resolve 3-9, perhaps there's even a percentage that you'll get one lower Pen! But Res 14, could be 35%, and Res 20, for instance, could be 65% to have Pen+1 or something. Attractive for all classes, really.
  4. @anfoglia: I really like it too.
  5. Well let's make a seperate thread and see how beta backers like our idea? Yeah, let's!! ...and done!
  6. Well let's make a seperate thread and see how beta backers like our idea? Dear, beta backers, let's solve Resolve, once and for all!
  7. @dunehunter: In addition - it does fit the concept of Resolve well. Perhaps we could use my idea of softening afflictions and dunehunter's idea - that would make Resolve juicy for several classes and fitting enough, no?
  8. Heh, I'll fold. It's pretty obvious that this being random is the crux. It seems that empowering Empower or even give us one or two more Empower is the way to go. Then again, many of you guys aren't exactly sold on this in the first place. From a "logical" standpoint, I can see why. Why would Resolve empower one or two of your spells/skills? Isn't really Resolve better suited for resisting or at least soften the blow of afflictions? That would be more fitting.
  9. I dunno. I'm surprised that so many of you guys have a problem with the randomness. I'd just chalk it up as a spell critical, or something to that effect - which would stack with normal crits as well, if that's applicable.
  10. A really nice idea, and easy to grasp and remember as well. I like it!
  11. I wonder what a non-random version would look like? How about something in the vein of: RES 1-8 never occurs RES 9-11 every 8th empowerable action will be empowered (perhaps starting with the first, to increase the value of RES even further?) RES 12-14 every 7th empowerable action will be empowered (ditto) RES 15-16 every 6th empowerable action will be empowered (ditto) RES 17-18 every 5rd empowerable action will be empowered (ditto) RES 19-20 every 4nd empowerable action will be empowered (ditto) RES 21-22 every 3rd empowerable action will be empowered (ditto) Or is this madly OP?
  12. The randomness, I don't mind at all. It's more or less the same when swinging weapons and hitting and how much damage you deal with them, sort of. And isn't it good that it generally benefits casters, given their current state? And I assume this benefits rogues as well (even if I haven't played around much with stealth).
  13. Josh said in his latest Frog Helms Club update that they're thinking of adding a possibility of randomly Empowering a skill/spell to Resolve to make it more attractive. The higher RES, the higher chance you have of getting your skill/spell Empowered. With such a change, it would be hard to forget about Empower, wouldn't you say? Please do implement this, is all I can say, since it would make Empower a cooler feature, unlike so far... (See my thread on Empower: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/95325-empower-babe-put-in-a-corner/?do=findComment&comment=1981303) What do you guys think?
  14. The big question, though: I'm sure there are quite a few that may be described most derogatively as "dwarfs" in Wales, but is there even two dwarves in existence there? I mean dwarves==fantasy.
  15. I agree. Whatever I think of these ship mechanics so far, I am already certain that they are considerably better than the stronghold and much more integrated in the game this time around, and that's very neat indeed.
  16. Hmm, on a good site about the most common ciphers, the most plain of these ciphers actually has "portishead" as an example (otherwise an excellent triphop group from the 1990s): For instance: Caesar cipher Caesar cipher, is one of the simplest and most widely known encryption techniques. The transformation can be represented by aligning two alphabets, the cipher alphabet is the plain alphabet rotated left or right by some number of positions. When encrypting, a person looks up each letter of the message in the 'plain' line and writes down the corresponding letter in the 'cipher' line. Deciphering is done in reverse. The encryption can also be represented using modular arithmetic by first transforming the letters into numbers, according to the scheme, A = 0, B = 1,..., Z = 25. Encryption of a letter x by a shift n can be described mathematically as Plaintext: portishead cipher variations: qpsujtifbe rqtvkujgcf sruwlvkhdg tsvxmwlieh utwynxmjfi vuxzoynkgj wvyapzolhk xwzbqapmil yxacrbqnjm zybdscrokn azcetdsplo badfuetqmp cbegvfurnq dcfhwgvsor edgixhwtps fehjyixuqt gfikzjyvru hgjlakzwsv ihkmblaxtw jilncmbyux kjmodnczvy lknpeodawz mloqfpebxa nmprgqfcyb onqshrgdzc Decryption is performed similarly, (There are different definitions for the modulo operation. In the above, the result is in the range 0...25. I.e., if x+n or x-n are not in the range 0...25, we have to subtract or add 26.) Something went wrong in formatting, here's the link: http://easyciphers.com/portishead EDIT: Well, whatever you type will give you the cipher code - it was me typing "portishead".
  17. Hmm, my noodles are frying. We see six coils of rope on that muppet deck, and there are rather specific and intricate rope twists attached to them. What if those six are some sort of decryption possibility. And how many tattoos does the Josh muppet have on his left arm? Is that a code. I mean, their shirts say O as in Obsidian, I presume. Could that also be part of a code, though?
  18. Alright, Aramintai. If you have the time, I'd love to get your help in converting this image into something that works in PoE2 for my female mountain dwarf: I hope the quality will suffice.
  19. Matt Mercer, that's one talented voice actor! And the way he plays D&D, it's absolutely fantastic! [Youtube]

  21. Took a week to prepare so that Van Damme could do his epic split between these Volvo trucks: Business as usual for a Swedish squirrel, gleaning food on a winter's day just recently:
  22. I demand a day 1 DLC Dwarven Dream Pack with six new dwarven portraits and with the first real dwarven companion, sporting a beard to be darn proud of, like...
  23. Yeah. That feels likely. Embedding random GOG codes all over the internet is an esoteric way of dropping hints, especially when none of them seem to have any bearing on the game you're trying to hype. Edit: Yeah, generated a bunch of random 6-digit codes over here, and almost all of them redeemed to some expired offer without worrying about forward/backward nonsense. Nah, you can type whatever random code like the ones we have, and you'd still get the same message. The GoG theory is a dud.
  24. You guys have prolly seen this vid, but here it is, anyways: [Youtube] Hmm, Obsidian's biggest game yet?
