How important is memorizing every affliction?
IndiraLightfoot replied to Frog Man's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Pen and paper? Blasphemy! I use my hands and sometimes my toes, and when I want to enjoy some technological luxury, I use an abacus.

Pictures of your Games Episode X - The Journey to Babel
I started playing Prey hard when it was released last year, but an unfortunate patch got me in a gnarly situation, where I soon had no resources, no nothing, and I had to take down a technopath to open a door and proceed, so I gave the up, assuming I was nearing the end anyways. I was wrong. I've played this game for another 30h, and I'm still not finished with it. It's absolutely humongous!! Normally, this is a good thing, but despite the beautiful space station and all the stories about the crew members, my patience and entertainment was ground to space dust. And most enemies are the same, but different resistances, and constant nightmares and bad spawning (just after you enter locations or press some button) puts you on the spot really badly, since the difficulty I play on seem to bereave me of any kind of resources (and I have neuromod those to max). I simply had enough of weird plot twists (not yet, you have to go get that code or that gadget and backtrack in places you've already been - and the spawning of monsters are on the level of insane. The fun got sucked out of the game, and I deliberately ended by doing what any sane character would do. I left the space station myself as soon as I could, using Alex's escape pod... Cool to visit a space shuttle suspended in space... Time to drive it... More typhon coral - it makes wanna puke. I was bored to tears, so I began taking showers, pretending I was a plumber (Nah, the game's pretty great. I just had enough, folks.) One happy family...NOT! Idiots, all of them!! Little bit of maths, and some gaming. Nice taste there, Morgan Yu. Time to leave this nightmare. Those last moments when you know you're gonna die, but at least you brought the entire world down with you (Now that is one sucky way of thinking)... Oh, the aliens taught me advanced coding instead. How nice of them!

Portraits
IndiraLightfoot replied to iscalio's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Somebody clearly detested Jay Leno chins and all kinds of pronunciated chins, so he or she decided to shave them off. And rounder faces wasn't this artist cup of tea either, so he or she pressed them into something more of a horsie face look. Noses? I forgot to mention noses. This 4chan artist hated big noses and made them smaller, but at least not Michael Jackson nose-bereft. I certainly get where Wormerine's coming from. And his point certainly has nothing to do with "SJW". By the way, whenever I see the term SJW bandied around, I just sigh and think "Frigging uneducated cry-babies of today, they never ceases to amaze me in their prejudiced ignorance. Grow some temples, read some books, come on." Aramintai, she could have made her great point without any such futile "I base my knowledge on the interwebz" reference, since most gamer women I know, including my teenage daughter, they do spend a lot of time on character creation, at least compared to me, and they love to make nice-looking gals, that's for sure. Games are escapism and fantasy, so I'm not surprised in the slightest. But were the changes in these 4chan portraits predictable? Yep. I saw them coming 10,000 miles away.

The Deadfire Scavenger Codes - WE FOUND THEM ALL - Cutthroat Cosmo! - Bonus Pets!
IndiraLightfoot replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah, they seem recklessly and haphazardly presented, almost just strewn around. Still, they've gone through the trouble of having some German artist hand paint the darn thing, for instance. I can tell it's done by the artist herself (I think). Perhaps there will be wounded NPCs wimpering about in the game, and when you click on them, you get one of those Dragon Age convos. But instead of "buy this DLC", "Enter this troll code"... JUST KIDDING!

are you an alpha?
IndiraLightfoot replied to Gromnir's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I certainly wasn't. I was some plain ol' lollygagger, it seems, and got by using other tactics, even if I rather early made it through PotD solo. I certainly missed out on some juicy advantages. However, I suspect I'll refrain from using this newly won knowledge in Deadfire, but after a few playthroughs, who knows?

IndiraLightfoot replied to Enoch's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I like that they are restricted a bit too, for RPG reasons.- Empower - Babe put in a corner
Yeah, and like in this case, you just have a bad day. I mean, even Kasparov and Roger Federer have days when the **** hits the fan.- Movement speed and action speed
@Boeroer: When I played the beta, I noticed how significant this was when I made a party going crazy with movement speed effects. So, I'm planning to maximize that effect when Deadfire gets released. And Dex, doesn't it increase movement speed as well?- Movement speed and action speed
OK, so movement speed never affects attack speed or spell-casting speed or anything like that. Good to know. Still, by moving fast, I can close the gap between my enemy and my melee character, and in effect, still get attacks in faster, and then move on to the next faster, so in some sense higher DPS anyways per encounter (and less damage)? And for ranged characters, better kiting, of course.- Movement speed and action speed
I haven't seen a thread about this, and I'm not even sure it's needed. I made it for my own sake, just to garner more about what Swift and other speed-enhancing spells/effects really entail. For instance, the most stupid speed question ever asked: If I use Stride or something to literally move faster during combat, will my attacks literally become faster too, and is this in any way linked to the animation frames of my character models and their animated attacks? - Portraits
