  1. Against randomization too. This is going to be a tactical RPG so I think that hand-crafted dungeons with hand-crafted encounters would be best. The patrol monsters thing might be cool though. I would rather not have to kill EVERY SINGLE monster in the whole damn dungeon. I don't think it would be practical if you have a large party but with a small or even single member party... I think it would be nice if you were able to avoid fights.
  2. I think it would be more annoying then anything else. It wasn't in the old games either.
  3. I think he is trying to ask how hard you want the game to be by using the number of reloads as a metric for difficulty. Oh really? That's not a very good metric to use.
  4. Exactly. With this kind of system then I think it would be fine to be only able to rest in a village/town/DAO-like camp. This is much better since you know that when you enter this dungeon you have X high level spells available to you until you leave. This means you have to consider, on a fight by fight basis, whether to use these spells or save them for a later fight.
  5. Umm, I don't quite get it. I mean, if you die you are obviously going to have to reload otherwise you won't be able to keep playing. It's hardly a matter of 'like' or 'dislike'.
  6. I might be wrong here but I think that the console being available in the old-school RPGs wasn't exactly a 'feature' but simply a side-effect of how the game was setup, modding wise.
  7. Indeed, this is how publishers think as well. That games should be played by as many people as possible. That is to say, the reason Obsidian went to Kickstarter in the first place was so they didn't have to make any compromises to make sure that the game would brought by 'as many people as possible'. --- There are a lot people on these forums which are very elitist old school rpg kinda guys. I'm generally against them and am for modernize things a bit more but... making a console port would be a really bad idea.
  8. I think it's a bad idea to try and categorize the entirety of the Project Eternity fanbase using from your impressions of the users of a single website*. There are what? At most 500 people voting in polls? And probably less then 100 of those are actually posting? The Kickstarter page has already 50 thousand backers at this point and hopefully the game will be getting 10 times that amount in sales. SAMPLE SIZE! * Maybe more then one, don't care
  9. I guess I need to rephrase to be more clear that I'm interested in delivery method more than creation method. Your links do tell me how they'll build the game but I want to know if the Linux version will be tied to Steam, will I get a tarball, .rpm, .deb, etc file to download or something else? Ummm, why do you want to know anyway?
  10. Hmm... I'm pretty sure this isn't going to happen. Disabling auto-attack doesn't make much sense for example. The reason you don't have auto-attack in games like Diablo is because you are normally spending most of your time using specific abilities. This kind of game is fairly different as you have your auto-attack as your 'standard attack' which you supplement it with additional abilities every now and then.
  11. I think in general the game should 'restrict you from abusing it'. However there are obviously grey areas over what is 'abuse'. You could probably consider resting after every fight to be an 'abuse'. However, from a practical perspective it's actually difficult to to make it un-abusable while not being too restrictive or awkward. That's the main reason behind most abusable mechanics.
  12. If I recall correctly, the elves in the Rift War saga didn't have souls, or at least they didn't go to the 'Halls of the Dead' like humans did. I think that the elf-like guys in the Memory, Sword and Thorns books also didn't have souls. The idea is that humans are mortal and so have a place to go to when they die, whereas elves are immortal and are gone forever when they die.
  13. I fixed that for you What kind monster are you, to send innocent squirrels to their deaths?
  14. IT'S OLD SCHOOL. What more did you need? Considering their credentials it's obviously going to be a first-person, platforming tactical RPG. More seriously, I won't put any money towards the game unless I know what they are going to make. I mean if this was Obsidian I'd have thrown money at them even if I didn't have much information on the game. These guys? I don't know these guys. I think most people could afford to put down 20 euro to this, even with Project Eternity going on. Abstain from one night out drinking and you're have that and enough money left over for a cake!
  15. Naked chainmail apron. Mind = Blown (as NKKKK said) It would have to be quite high on the reward list. It seems like chainmail aprons are quite expensive. http://www.construct...on-up-to-1.65m/ Hygienic apparently!
  16. What about the Diablo 3 style system? Where some spells have a limited number of mutually exclusive modifications. So you have a lightning spell. Later on you might be able to change it into a chain lightning spell, or arc lighting or a fireball-like lighting globe. Or maybe you have a spell which lets you conjure a bunch of spiders onto an area. Instead of that you might conjure one spider queen that creates her own spiders continuously Or maybe you could conjure spiders which explode! Or cover an area with webs! Actually can we have spell which lets you conjure a ton of spiders around a mob? Cause that would be awesome.
  17. I hope they don't have any undead in the game, playable or non-playable. I'm kinda sick of zombies and vampires.
  18. Well I was thinking of making a thread to discuss how they should handle memory management while coding the game. Probably not a good idea?
  19. Their isometric sprites. Who cares? Everyone complaining about the 'boob plate'! Maybe not now, but the outrage was great, forcing them to change the design or to lose money :/ Boobs armor worked in our comics and games for years, but now this Feminism equality agenda wants to change everything, I'm telling you guys, this won't work like you are expecting. Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure most of the people complaining are GUYS.
  20. Their isometric sprites. Who cares? Everyone complaining about the 'boob plate'!
  21. Project Eternity is supposed to be an 'old school' RPG, hearkening back to the days and Baldur's Gate and whatnot right? In which case being a 'generic fantasy' is a must.
