  1. Aren't we all? That ending left a scar. I only care about happy endings when my character has a love interest who can potentially be left behind with a broken heart. I do so hate to see this happen. Any other time all I need is a meaningful conclusion to the story. Ideally, there should be several endings based on our previous choices with different, but not necessarily better or worse consequences for the world/my companions. I prefer my character's fate ambiguos, but I'll be okay with a more defined ending as long as it makes sense in context of my previous adventures.
  2. If on Firefox - AdblockPlus, r-click on offending images, pick block image, click/use settings you want. Gone. If not on Firefox - er, dunno. A similar sort of browser addon or program. If on Chrome or Opera, Adblock Plus.
  3. Yes, you can get the KS badge. See this thread - you'll have to message Fionavar with the date of your pledge. But you need a backer badge first and you won't get it until you complete the pledge management proccess.
  4. I'm all for a DRM-free Steam version, but have the devs actually said anything about it? GOG was presented as the DRM-free alternative, implying that Steamworks DRM will be used. Of course Obsidian could have changed their minds, but did they say it or is it just our wishful thinking at this point? As for Wasteland 2, keep in mind that in case of Steam exclusivity lack of DRM isn't a perfect solution: you still have to install the Steam client to download the game and this is a definite no-no for some anti-Steam people. Anyhow... I guess the option to choose Steam or GOG will appear on the backer site closer to release date. But when inXile gave away Wasteland keys, I had two buttons on my Torment backer page: GOG key and Steam key, choose one. Couldn't Obsidian do a similar thing?
  5. Oh no, I'll go broke again. I don't think it's too early, it's normal to have 2-3 projects in various stages of development. Stick of Truth is right around the corner, Project Eternity Pillars of Eternity is far beyond its early stage, so it's a good moment to start working on a new game. They'll have to wait with the Kickstarter until after the holidays anyway, so it will end in February or March. I just hope it's not typical fantasy.
  6. I suspect that in my mind it will stay Project Eternity forever. Right now I don't even understand why eternity needs pillars and what this title is all about, so it's difficult to suddenly start using it. Maybe when the game is released and I see a fancy intro screen with nice music in the background... It might just make the right impression.
  7. Do I get a badge too if I pledged during the Kickstarter campaign, but only through PayPal? If so, then I report a missing K.
  8. I don't even know who works in which studio anymore, they're all contributing to each other's games
  9. All DRM is cancer. If you're willing to pollute your PC with it for the sake of "convenience", go ahead. I'll happily spend the extra 5 minutes it takes to install mods to a GOG(or similar) DRM-free version rather than rely on hand-holding. Let's be fair, Steamworks DRM is a benign tumor. There are far greater evils out there (EA, I'm looking at you). Project Eternity will not require Steam to play. You can get it DRM-free from GOG.
  10. Is that why it taught me (and many many other people I know) to actually buy games instead of pirating them? For many people, Steam (and even Origin) has some added value. The fact that you don't see it doesn't mean it's nonexistent. Obsidian went the ideal way - they offer both Steam and non-Steam versions, therefore OP's post is pointless and the discussion should have stopped long ago before it turns into general Steam/Origin/Uplay/GFWL bashing. We sure can do that! But let's move over to Computer and Console. I'm afraid you don't understand what the OP is talking about. There are two types of games on Steam: those that use Steamworks DRM and those that don't. Both types can make use of the rest of Steam features, like achievements, game hub, Steam overlay and what not. The difference is that you can play DRM-free games without ever launching Steam. It's an option for people who like to keep their games in one place, but don't have a reliable internet or simply don't want another application running in the background while they play. You can still launch the DRM-free games through Steam if you want. You're not locked out of anything, you don't lose any "added value" you were talking about. You simply have one more option. More options is good, isn't it? There is aboslutely no logical reason not to release Project Eternity as a DRM-free Steam game in addition to the DRM-free GOG version.
  11. Yes, Slavic racial/ethnic superiority and nationalism are more valid basis for translation than potential sales revenues. Obviously superior to dirty american western mongrel races who make eternity projekt game. Play soviet anthem now. This was unnecessary. He was clearly joking, no need to make it political.
  12. Polish and Russian already confirmed. Someone really should update the poll...
  13. I think werebears deserve a thread too. I don't particularly like dragons, even less the trend to put them in every single game, but if they are in Project Eternity I want traditional winged mighty beasts. Something ancient, something to be feared and respected. They should be barely, if at all, beatable.
  14. Morrowind had an amazing storyline. Of course Bethesda sucks at writing so it was easy to miss, but if you dig into the lore and history of the world around you, you begin to understand how brilliant it really was. Discovering Dagoth Ur's past, his motivations, the truth behind the Red Moment and how the Tribunal were both a curse and a blessing to the Dunmer was one of the greatest adventures I've ever had in a video game. The problem is, it's so easy to just breeze through the main quest without understanding the meaning of these events. Morrowind - and all TES games, for that matter - reward bookworms. Most people will see Dagoth Ur as a madman sitting under the mountain, trying to kill everything around him - they'll go and destroy him and this will be all. Some will understand Ur's anguish, realize what was lost and how the Tribunal can be seen as true villains. Though now that I think of it, I love the storyline because of lore, not because of gameplay. This might be why so many people consider it forgettable. What I love about Morrowind is that while you are the chosen one, you're not the first - there were many before you and they all failed, for one reason or another. You can fail too. You never know. Or at least your character doesn't know, because the player obviously realizes the game would be pointless if you didn't save the world I like Skyrim. It's a very good game. Not excellent, not the best ever, certainly not #1 on my list of anything - but it's good. I won't explain what's wrong with it because I've done it so many times on the Bethsoft forums... But read this and you'll know what Bethesda lost:
  15. Who the hell cares? I'd rather game developers remembered about left-handed players and included fully customizable controls - mappable numeric keypad, among other things. It's astonishing how often games force us to use unnatural right-handed key bindings.
  16. Mixed. I used autopause on the following: enemy sighted trap found character died During the fight I paused manually because I like micromanagement. Huh? You can play a tank, a DPS guy, a ranged character, a mix. Your casters can focus on offense or defense. Thieves are very versatile, swashbuckler is essentially a fighter with thieving abilities. Then there are dual- and multi-classes. I wouldn't say that IE games didn't have a variety of builds. The problem lay in the attributes. Int and Wis were useless to fighters, mages could dump Str, Con and Wis, clerics didn't need Int, nobody needed Cha. That's why point distribution was incredibly simple - half of attributes was useless, so you could easily max out the other half. If Project Eternity improves on this and every attribute is in some way important to every class, then we'll have a plethora of builds without changing the core mechanics of level-ups.
  17. Yes. If you're given a quest, there should be a way to legitimately solve it or fail it. There's nothing more annoying than quests stuck in your journal.
  18. I don't care if villains are "good" or "evil" as long as they're believable. Give them an agenda - a reason for their decisions - think about their personality. Don't mirror Alduin's "hohoho I'm so evil and this is my only line in the entire game"; show us that the villain is a real person and I'll be happy.
  19. This would be interesting. I don't think I'd like to play as a giant rat, then again this is what I once said about Argonians and now my character in Daggerfall is an Argonian assassin. I'd rather see a humanoid otter, though. Otters are adorable and deadly.
  20. Isometric view has actually been one of the selling points of Project Eternity. It might be old, but it's certainly not archaic - as proved by high demand for games using this view. However, I agree that some flexibility of the camera would be useful. I recently replayed Fallout and it was a pain to search bodies hidden behind walls or sometimes even to see my enemies. I hope transparent walls will be more effective in PE so we don't need a movable camera.
