  1. I ended up turning it off and disabling individual features instead. I can't do without AoE indicators, learning every ability by trial and error and then remembering them all is an unnecessary hassle.
  2. Where did you find a cat? In Raedrics hold, there's an enemy to fight in the dungeon. Once you clear their room, there's a black cat to talk to. Thanks. I haven't gotten there yet, I barely scratched the game yesterday, so I wanted to make sure I don't miss it.
  3. I didn't pledge as much as some of you, but it still was a lot to that broke 19-year-old student, so I really hoped Obsidian would deliver. From what I've seen so far, they did.
  4. No, but they lowered the score for its "Dated Art Style." You can't win them all.
  5. Wow, they didn't lower the score because there's too much text? I'm impressed.
  6. Nothing is like Arcanum. But seriously, if Arcanum is your benchmark for multiple paths, you must often be disappointed with other RPGs (as proved by your reaction to BG2, which IMO is a superior game overall). The setting and world interactions in that game were quite delightful, taking my mind off the horrible, horrible combat. Unfortunately, I haven't played PoE long enough to make comparisons.
  7. Normal + Expert, but I have no idea what Expert actually does. So far it seems to just have turned off tooltips. But then again, all I saw of the game without Expert was 5 minutes to check if the KS bonuses work. I play for the story, I don't mind standard difficulty. For all I care, there could be no battles at all (gotta love games which let you talk your way out of combat encounters).
  8. It doesn't load for me at all most of the time. The joys of release day!
  9. I checked the KS page, it says "SPECIAL THANKS IN GAME CREDITS" at the $100 tier up. This also granted the silver forum badge. Judging by the post above and the fact that I'm not in the credits either, I suspect this was the cut-off tier. I guess listing all 77k people would be a bit too much.
  10. The font makes me want to claw my eyes out, but oh well. I'll get through it somehow.
  11. I can see them as separate downloads on GOG. I don't know how it works on Steam. That's the preorder bonus. The Kickstarter item is different. Are you sure? http://i.imgur.com/6Hyl73J.jpg
  12. I can see them as separate downloads on GOG. I don't know how it works on Steam.
  13. The OP reminds me of people laying down neat new pavements on a square grid and then cringing when everyone walks across the grass anyway because it's a much faster way to the bus stop.
  14. PoE won't have any DRM attached to it on Steam... But I guess people will never learn that. Is this confirmed? Can you link a source? I was going to get my copy form GOG, but if the Steam version is DRM-free, I might grab that one instead.
  15. Could be. But then why does Obsidian want Steam DRM? I don't mind using the Steam client, I have tons of games there, but I'm always in favor of DRM-free versions no matter where you buy them from.
  16. Does Obsidian handle any localization at all? It's not their job, as far as I know. I suppose the publisher is responsible for that, but still, they have to cover the costs. German, French and Spanish localizations were a stretch goal (Polish and Russian weren't). For what it's worth, Portuguese wasn't a popular choice in the translation poll. Of course, part of the reason is that people interested in it might not be fluent enough in English to join an English-speaking forum.
  17. That's because Polish and Russian are handled by the local distributor, not Obsidian themselves.
  18. Does this apply in the US eg is it worldwide? I don't personally own any of those games on Steam so I can't test it. (edit) and of course it still doesn't negate the complaint that you still "need" Steam client to purchase/download and patch the game. Most games have only one version for all countries, so I assume it's worldwide. I have a few RHCP games, but they all use Steam DRM both in RHCP and international version, so I can't check how it'd work there. Even Fallout 3 doesn't require the Steam client if you use FOSE (or maybe not at all since GFWL was removed), you might have that one and try for yourself. What bothers me is that Paradox doesn't put DRM on their own games, but does on the ones they publish.
  19. Nothing to be ashamed of! Even if I say it on Obsidian forum in a thread which was meant to help PoE climb up the list? TW3 has enough hype already.
  20. It is. It was originally December 2014, but it was pushed back at the end of Kickstarter campaign when they saw they'd get much more funding than they asked for.
  21. I'm ashamed to admit that I caved in and voted for The Witcher 3 in the last question. Pillars of Eternity was second, then No Man's Sky, Dark Souls II and Watch Dogs. Strange that Wasteland 2 isn't up there.
  22. I'd like to know as well. Polish and Russian localizations are done by the local distributor(s) - they were announced on the same day, which raised reasonable suspicions that the distributor is 1C/Cenega and this would indeed be a shame. So has anything new been revealed?
  23. And you know it was ruined because you already played The Witcher 3, yes? I don't know why everyone jumped on the open world, imo it's the least worrying thing Feargus mentioned, considering that they made a great open world RPG not so long ago.
