PoE - Sales figures STEAM
Rosveen replied to BillyCorgan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Okay then, it counts owners, not buyers, so it includes backers. I imagine it can't track private profiles. I think all editions count as the same game, some just include more DLC. -
PoE - Sales figures STEAM
Rosveen replied to BillyCorgan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If this is just sales, not total Steam copies owned, then remember that 77k people already got a copy by backing on Kickstarter. Also, it doesn't count any other sources, notably GOG. I think these are pretty good figures for this kind of game. But yes, I'd love to know where this number comes from. Not doubting, just curious. -
OT: Baldurs Gate question
Rosveen replied to Chep's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I agree with DocDoom, just change their BG1 stats to BG2. That way you can let them carry over and have the advantage of control over their skills and XP (useful if you remove the level cap). -
OT: Baldurs Gate question
Rosveen replied to Chep's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well, one problem is that the Tweak Pack lets you use BG2 stats in BG1 for consistency, so it's possible I had BG2 stats to begin with. It's been a while. But I'm 100% sure tome points and classes carried over. -
OT: Baldurs Gate question
Rosveen replied to Chep's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
When I last played Trilogy, all characters with continued story in BG2 carried over with their BG1 stats, including stat tomes and Imoen dual-classed earlier than normally. In short, just like your own character. I can't say for sure if it's default behavior or an optional feature, but I think it's default. -
I had no idea that GoG would take an extra half a week to deliver the patch. How would I have known?Because it always happens with GOG? If it's your first new game from them, then I sympathize. I have it on GOG and I don't feel bad, this is exactly what I expected and agreed to. I'm more surprised to see someone actually bought Pillars on Origin.

I was serious. I would have a bit different stats, for example lower Might (at least its physical side), I'd probably stay a farmer instead of turning into a soldier, but generally it's pretty close. I'm less religious, but I don't think it factors into the character sheet. edit: After consideration, I'd almost certainly dabble in magic. Goldpact paladin? Except I'm not zealous. Maybe a wizard then, but I think dualclassing would fit better.

Hard mode is too easy.
Rosveen replied to Mazisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Um just no. Finding hard easy has nothing to do with hired adventurers. It has everything to do with over leveling from what I can see.Min-maxed hired adventurers don't affect the difficulty? I beg to differ. I'm not sure if it's possible to really overlevel in a game with a low level cap and so scarce kill XP. The most you can do is skip the hardest battles and return later, but that's just normal behavior. You still need to do quests to level up at all, so if they're too easy, they're just too easy. However, I suspect some people steamrolling the game were hit with the stat bug. I saw someone with huge, clearly unnatural AoEs who didn't notice anything was wrong. -
Why the hype?
Rosveen replied to SKull's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
IDK, I liked, what, about half the BG1 companions, maybe like 15 of them? Although, I can't say they were particularly deep, but some of them were cool. BG2 was definitely a lot better in that regard though. Of course, I still didn't love every character, but they were much better. And BGII had what, 17 recruitable companions? It really is a direct trade off--the more companions you have the longer and more complicated it would be to give each of them a fully developed plot, full characterization, etc. So some of them get shafted. Like Kivan. Nobody cares about Kivan and you know it. Somebody cared enough to mod his story into BG2. Actually, Kivan was a part of my canon BG1 team. But I guess I'm weird, I didn't recruit Minsc... -
Of course it has bugs, every game does (including Nintendo games, I don't know why Dirigible claims otherwise). However, I have not encountered any game-breaking bugs. I had a movement issue fixed with a relog. If my stats are bugged, it doesn't matter because I can't see any huge inflation in numbers and I don't care about getting one or two points here and there. I never crashed, not once. Do you know how many ****ing times Elder Scrolls games crashed on me? About that MMO where the main quest didn't appear at all? How saving in Lumiose City in Pokemon XY could make that save stop loading at all, and this game has only one save file so you had to start over (luckily, it was quickly patched)? Stat-related bugs in Pillars are major and shouldn't have made it through QA, but really, this game is far from the broken unplayable mess the OP paints it as.

Trial of Iron exploit
Rosveen replied to Sagregas's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Trial of Iron is a personal challenge. If you can't play it without cheating, then I don't understand why you undertook it in the first place. -
Ah. That explains it, I disabled this information in dialogues.

She gave me access to the archives after I buried the scroll. Perhaps dialogue choices are the key? I don't remember what exactly I told her, but I tried to spin it on Wael's will instead of blunt "the scroll's gone, deal with it."

Where's the mystery?
Rosveen replied to tominwood's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
So you're telling me that breaking swords were a more interesting story than children born without souls? Okay then. -
Normal mode is too normal
Rosveen replied to Longknife's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's so normal it entered the uncanny valley, that's why it makes you uncomfortable, Longknife. -
Pillars of Metagaming
Rosveen replied to luzarius's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Leaving the bears and coming back later was a no-brainer for me too, but after seeing so many people on this forum trying to kill it solo and then coming here to complain... Actually, I lied. I knew I'd die, but I attacked it anyway just to see exactly how strong it was. It definitely met my expectations. :D I don't mind reloading to test stuff like that. -
Mature ESRB rating
Rosveen replied to Maccabeus's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Could we have also Extra and Crazy options for those of us who want game to be bit more fun?Oh please, LoL! If it's not enough as it already is, you've got some serious issues. Why is it that people who want to hear profanity evey two words have serious issues, but people too delicate to hear even one word are totally fine? I mean, neither works in real life. You can choose not to play a game with profanity, but what do you do when you hear it from a sibling, friend, colleague?
