so, how did ya'll started liking this genre?
Um.... New Vegas is an open world FPS with very limited RPG elements. It is a completely different genre. Not really. It has tons of RPG elements, in fact more than most other so called RPGs have. Just that you can play it from a first person perspective does not make it a shooter. You also don't need to aim in New Vegas due to the VATS which will give you better results than normal aiming. Absolutely. It's the amount of choice you have over your character build and subsequent activity, and the consequences of those choices, that makes it an RPG.

Should I play the old Planescap Torment before the new one comes out?
Your mileage may vary: many people sing the praises of PS:T, but I didn't enjoy it all that much. I've tried it several times, but it just doesn't grab me.

Pike and extended reach.
No it's how fast can a weapon that is 2-3 time longer than normal can swing around and cover that much area. It's dependent on moment of inertia, which is a function of the radius squared integrated across the mass. So double the length, quadruple the torque needed to change the rotation. Plus you've quadrupled the area to cover with the weapon. In short, you can't cover the geometry anywhere near as effective because of the physics involved.

Pike and extended reach.
Actually it makes a lot of sense to me. Doubling the radius would quadruple the engagement area, which is far too much ground to cover with what is effectively a much slower weapon. That's not incompetence; it's physics.

If a PoE2 Kickstarter was announced..
That a fact? It seemed like PoE was one of the biggest kickstarters ever at the time but now it is only the 10th largest. If the game is a success they might be able to do it again. Hopefully they will not need to. I should have said Kickstarter video games. Other Kickstarters have fared much better, yes, but if you look at the most funded video games, those peaked back in 2013. Even the polished Shadowrun: Hong Kong campaign barely broke 1.2 million, compared to Shadowrun Returns which earned 1.8 million.

Pickpocketing
Pickpocketing is probably better suited to sandbox games.

Next Obsidian Kickstarter
Yeah, but mostly those games are of modern era where you use guns, the survival factor is different if it's in medieval era. How we want to survive a zombie apocalypse without guns? There was a Kickstarter similar to what you are describing called Dead Crusade. It didn't generate enough interest and was cancelled after 15 days. I suspect a game with this theme likely wouldn't generate enough financial return to justify the investment.

We need a bunch of non-backers buying this
rjshae replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If it's a good game and gets good reviews, it'll sell. Wanting it won't make that happen.

If a PoE2 Kickstarter was announced..
Kickstarters don't fare as well these days. I wouldn't expect a PoE 2 Kickstarter to get nearly as much funding as PoE did.

Update 91: Closing in on March 26th!
Can I ask how the game manual is coming along? Is it all finished, or still undergoing edits? Thanks.

New Codex interview with the PoE dudes
“We can certainly get you set up! Seeing as the Codex has a special spot in the hearts of Obsidian.” Lets hope that little spot doesn't grow and cause a myocardial infarction....

Area looting confirmed
Area looting is probably a good feature to have for tablet versions of games. Just sayin'. Personally I won't miss looting masses of bodies from a large battle, particularly when each individual treasure is small.

Seven Dragon Saga by Tactical Simulations Interactive (TSI) KS
Yes. If they can get the same number of supporters as Underworld Ascendant, they will easily clear $600,000. Based on current trends though, they will not quite make it and end up having to try again. There have been a few other KS projects that were successful on the 2nd or 3rd try.

Seven Dragon Saga by Tactical Simulations Interactive (TSI) KS
Their Kickstarter page could use a little reworking; people seem to be put off by it. The graphics are decent and their is some good information, but still a re-org. would be beneficial.

Pillars of Eternity 2 and crowdfunding on Kickstarter?
Since when? Kickstarter is to fund projects we want to see come to fruition. There's nothing said about it being a non-profit endeavor, unless a project chooses to make that distinction. We aren't funding marxist communism here; it's still a business.

about rolling stats (like the old IE games)
It might be interesting to have a game that allocates your stats based on a combination of your starting class, race, and cultural background, rather than setting them directly. Or perhaps some combination of the two.

A bit of help or direction for Toolset NWN2
There are forums on the new vault and GoG, but the above forum is your best bet. You might also find this guide of some help. Good luck with your module building.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
No it doesn't debunk anything; it just demonstrates one source of aggression derived from gaming. Co-author Prof Richard Ryan, from the University of Rochester, said: "The study is not saying that violent content doesn't affect gamers..."

Seven Dragon Saga by Tactical Simulations Interactive (TSI) KS
From what I've read of it, including the KS, it does sound very much like a "Far East" setting somewhat like Kara-Tur. Or at least a mix.
