So, the plot.
Karkarov replied to Stargazer86's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Just as an aside OP I am not sure you caught it or if someone mentioned it but Thaos does not have eternal life. He dies just like everyone else. However Woedica is gaming the system on his behalf and makes sure he always resurrects as the same person and keeps all his memories. So even though he is being reborn she keeps him outside the system so that he can keep doing his work into eternity. I guess this is also sort of appropriate because the implication is the Engwithan society got wiped out in a sacrifice to create the gods to begin with... a sacrifice Thaos was actually running. Also if you pay close attention at end game (especially if you hash it out with Durance) it is heavily implied the whole Waidwen thing was Eothas attempting to invade Dyrwood to stop Woedica's plans before they could really take off. Unfortunately the other gods either weren't 100% down with what he was doing or were not as aware of the situation as he was and worked against him probably because they were afraid of him gaining too much power regardless of his intentions. Hence Magran (and probably Abyddon) helping to make the Godhammer bomb. It is also worth mentioning that the game isn't super clear about whether or not Eothas is actually "dead". -
Companions - who wrote what?
Karkarov replied to Eric Fenstermaker's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I liked most of the companions but I got to admit.... Eder was my favorite. Great work Mr. Fenstermaker. I would say Pallegina, Aloth, and Durance were my runner ups. Only companion I didn't dig at all was Hiravias and that isn't the writers fault, I just have never liked druids that much. -
So if I told you I gazed the dragon and did the dragon slaying skill you can learn to boot I can claim no cheese RIGHT????? Seriously though this dragon is a cheesasaurus rex to begin with. I have tried fighting it legit without doing that kind of stuff plenty and it just doesn't pan out. I actually got her down to just like 50 hp before wiping on a "real" fight but even then I was doing that max level cipher spell Disintegrate that basically does 100+ damage to you and bypasses DR... twice. It is pretty cheesy on it's own. Besides the Adra Dragon tells you it's weakness.... it is a big fat tub of lard covered in heavy rocks. It practically screams petrify me.

EI Mod and my opinions
Karkarov replied to Mdalton31's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Not really. For example: Junta do we need to link that epic Firkraag fight again? You know the one where the monk just walks up and punches him once and he dies? -
I am not totally sure I agree with this. While none of the npc companions in game are laughing lunatcs going off on a baby killing spree a few of them are definitely not what I would call perfectly ethical totally moral people. Also there is plenty of opportunity for the main character to act like an ass and be an all around douche.

Blade of the Endless Paths
Karkarov replied to Jasta11's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
The blade was snapped into two pieces. The pommel is the last piece you find if you find them in order. So this should give you an idea where to go. -
As someone who has beaten Bloodborne please allow me to reply with "Lol". Seriously guys the game is great and it is perfectly playable with or without the mod. My only complaint is that later in the game once your team levels up you are just too powerful with the right classes/abilities.

I would try just making a copy of the portrait you chose, naming it something slightly different, then porting in the portrait you want and name it it identically to the portrait you orginally picked. It should resolve the issue. Alternatively the unfortunate only other option I can come up with off the top of my head would be to save before making the new character, go into a new game cycle, create them as you want, screen shot it, quit out, make a custom portrait per usual, then make the character in game and choose the correct portrait.

How do I will recognise the special item for Backers ingame?
Karkarov replied to littlemad's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
You can always enchant the cloak, there are tons of necks and cloaks in game but really most of them are pretty uninteresting or average. -
Yeah no one on this forum knows more about this than me so a few things. First Bester already told you that 1920x1080 is the max, so you know that. I will also let you know scaling the UI doesn't work half as well as you probably think it will. If you are going to make downscaled versions of your UI you will have to adjust it by hand. No simply scaling to the proper resolution won't work, even if it is still a 16x9 resolution often times it still scales in a different way than the game does. Hopefully in the future bester can impliment the ability to overwrite "all" of the textures in game which will make this considerably easier because then all you will have to do is make a new texture to replace the default one, then make UI "blocks" as needed to block out the elements inside some art border or something. The mod just isn't at that point yet though. So long story short, making a truly custom HUD for this game is a lot of work. If you are just doing it for yourself and your own enjoyment I suggest just making what you want and letting it go at that. If you really want it to support all kinds of resolutions and be used by others just be ready for a ton of work. If you want to ask some specific info about spacing or how the party windows work in detail, etc etc, I will happy to talk to you about it in pm's.

Not sure where else to post so here goes. Long story short. Plague of insects never goes away. EVER. To replicate this bug just go to Od Nua level 3 and let a ogre druid cast plauge of insects on you. Whatever party members were hit are guaranteed dead and the save is borked if you saved after. Even a full on rest does not make it go away, in fact, I had to rest or Aloth was going to permanently die from the non stop damage. Fortunately I keep back up saves.

Your RPG system sucks!
Karkarov replied to Halsy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
OP either isn't far enough into the game (trust me I have been in plenty of fights that did not "end quickly") or he just isn't any good at it. I will admit there are a few enemies here or there though that just don't give a crap about engagement and will bee line your casters regardless of how many melee you put in front of them unless you literally rope a dope them into a choke point. -
Evil is as evil does. Just because you are a merciless bleak walker who will do whatever it takes to get the job done doesn't mean you are "evil" per se. You could be fighting for a good cause, trying to stop a serial killer, liberating a bunch of slaves. It is all a matter of perspective and that's why it is so great this game runs on a reputation system not an alignment one.

My customs look wrong in that size for small. Are you sure? They look fatter. Yeap I am sure. The reason is they may look a little off is because Obisidian is scaling the portraits based on the size of the party window in game which is actually larger than the portrait. It should be fairly subtle though.

You realize there are armors in game that can have reduced speed penalty, or other special effects right? Also dex can counter the effects of armor speed penalty. There is plenty of reason to wear lighter armors in the game. Stop metagaming and play it for yourself on release, before assuming the whole system is borked.
