Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too late in the game to change any of this other than racial skill tweaks so not sure the point of question one. Especially since the current system works just fine. Racial wise human is by far the lamest but none of them downright suck completely, just some are clearly better than others for specific things.

lol Yeah. I keep hearing about how bad Rangers are. I kind of wanted to include another female and I thought Jemima would be an interesting addition, especially in light of Job. I want a solid range DPS and I don't want two of any class. I'm sure even a weaker class would still work in a normal difficulty game, but it doesn't hurt to consider options. I just haven't played enough of the beta to know which is best. Probably just make the rogue range DPS and then make a barbarian or something for melee dps. Rangers are not as bad as they were, they still just aren't super strong and their pets are sort of paper champions. No class in the game sucks if you use it right, some just aren't as blatantly (or easily) as strong as others.- 18 replies

I was about the post the same thing, the basic premise of the Black Hound is basically the same premise as Eternity.... so maybe we did get that story after all? Also that stained glass is very nice, great style to it and I have been really happy with similar small details you see in game like paintings and shields and such. They are all very nicely detailed. As for that backer..... seriously they dropped that much money then never responded? Insane. -

There is only one class actually good at soloing, and that is the Chanter due to their summons. This game will be VERY hard to solo if not outright impossible. The devs never tested it, at all. They just don't **** block you from trying. -
Lul I did send it to you but fear not I kept it handy. For those who want an updated karkarovA layout (what I like the call the default layout since everything is basically close to the same place it is in the default Obsidian UI) here is a link to download the clean version of the file that you can drop into the mod. http://i4.minus.com/ibkz4ZAW1N3pS1.png Instructions on using the file! Rename it to: karkarovA-1920x1080.png Drop it into the iemod folder located in your steam games at "Pillars of Eternity - Public Beta/PillarsOfEternity_Data/Managed/iemod" If prompted to overwrite a file.... do so! I will be working on different resolutions and layout options in earnest now that I am happy with how the UI's look. So be on the lookout for that. For those who want a peak of what the Kark A UI should look like properly aligned and set up.... Here you go! Can't wait until those custom buttons can be modded in cause it will be even better!

You guys and your hatred of any RPG that isn't an IE game ;p. DA:I is too long (if you do all the meaningless collection crap), and the combat gets a little samey and lacks any tactical impact (unless you play on a higher setting), but it was still a fun game and enjoyable enough experience. I am sure Eternity will have a far better plot though.

Have you seen the codex thread with the specifications? That's all I have at the moment. Also the mod isn't using them at all right now, it'll be implemented when there are buttons to work with. Well knowing I can just replace the buttons I may do that myself to get it consistent with the bar designs I have done. My interpretation of what you said about the Log is that the Log is one image right? So correct me if I am wrong.... if I just rip the current log, and cut out it's background but leave the frame (which is fine as is) in tact.... would it work? Also if we are going to add in things like changing stat bonuses, or removing auto loot or clipping, lets just make sure they are toggle able like how "no more engagement" is now.

If you want to discuss brutal details feel free to pm me. Fair warning, design elements that extrude beyond the border (more than a handful of pixels anyway), or transparent elements just plain don't work. So you either design a U frame, a bottom bar, or an L frame. No other style will work due to design limitations. EDIT: You could design a double bar border as well and leave the log in the center bottom screen. It would be freaking weird but it could be done. Here is a demo look at the updated default layout. Once bester has time to update the mod to the new version I will put out clean files for it assuming Bester doesn't just include it since I already sent it to him.

I am fine with it as is. The game just forces you to make a choice, do you want to be a tanky guy, a dps who will drop like a wet noodle if you get real aggro, or a ranged party helper/caster dude who never really moves in. Almost any class can be built any of these ways and be viable, but you are forced to make your build and stick to it. No one can become the be all end all who does everything.

First impression: YEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!! The new portraits are freaking great!, and there is a metric ton of them now! Some of the old ones even got design passes and now look pretty darn good! Sounds are improved in my opinion, are the voices too loud? Yes. Do I really care? No. Also.... there are volume sliders! Graphics all around improved. Tons of enhanced textures on armor and gear. Very well done Obsidian!!! Can't wait for the 26th! You guys are knocking it out of the park!

Thanks Bester. If you could find a way to do it go for it, it would free me up to do something a little more out there with those sections. If you can create a miracle and completely eradicate the background transparent texture of the log I love you long time. As for the 2560 debacle here is a screenshot of what the UI "should" look like when properly aligned in game. http://i.imgur.com/wRtaqcb.jpg Here is the edited clean version of the bar after scaling and fixes were done. Meanwhile in the land of the double post. I went ahead and made a 720p version of what is currently being called the "B" version of the bottom bar just to see how hard it might be. Here is a pic of what it looks like once properly aligned. There are some tiny changes you probably wont even notice in this version. I still have to clean up the bottom bar a bit. This is more just a proof of concept to show the scaling/resizing for different resolutions can work without too much hassle per se. If anyone actually wants the original clean UI bar for use at 1280x720 feel free to download it from here: http://i2.minus.com/ibzxbNLDALQyvv.png Just make sure to rename it to karkarovB-1280x720 and to create a text file with the same name before you use it. The God of 2560x1440 already sends you His blessing :D Well if you want to do me a real solid this is what I need... Turn on the above UI Bar sensuki posted earlier. Play the game at your chosen resolution, the ui should work but it will look like crap. Align the ui elements as suggested or at least as best as you can. Go to Stormwall Gorge (or wherever really I just like gorge for it) and push your camera into an area that is solid black. Take a screenshot. PM me the screenshot. Bear in mind the higher resolutions are where things will get rough cause the UI is designed primarily at 1080 (since that is what most people will play at, such as myself) but I can make it work regardless.
