  1. Uh you must not play a lot of pc games, or only play the newer ones after they have had a patch or two. I remember back in the real days of bugs having games that were sold totally unplayable with multiple CTD bugs, balance issues, launch problems, multiple fail state no recovery bugs. If Eternity is the buggiest game you have ever played you are doing really well on the buggy games front.
  2. As an aside I can go into some spitballing as why but instead will tell you that you can run the IE Mod and simply replace the background of the chatbox in the UI image with a transparent space and you will get a transparent chat box in game.
  3. My only feedback would be .... 1: More companions and more variety in companions. I haven't seen all there is to see in White March yet but we still have one class with no companion (barbarian) and all the characters seem like okay/nice people when it really comes down to it other than Durance (who in all honesty is just a loudmouth jerk) and Devil. 2: They need way better justification for going along with you and doing what they are doing. Their plots also all need to be bigger and tie into the main plot/overall world story. Everyones story should have been like Eder, Aloth and Durance whose mini plots could both tie into the bigger picture. 3: The plot needs to be exponentionally longer and take up much more of the game, too much of the games content is side quests with very little meat on the bone. You could level this complaint at IE games too. 4: Make the stronghold a much bigger deal and way less hands off or just scrap it all together for the sequel.
  4. 14 You don't need the 14 for unlocking purposes, it is for spotting all the secrets.
  5. Let's be honest, there is no such thing as balanced. It doesn't matter what tweak you make or how much effort a game designer puts in if it is a pc based RPG/class driven game that sees patching there will always be room for "one more pass" or there will be that one ability that is "slightly overtuned". Fighters are totally functional right now, as are all classes, but I can see why some players would want to tweak them a little. So kudo's for putting out something to address some peoples concerns regardless of wether or not fighters are still solid without this mod. In retrospect (well not so much I always felt this way to some extent) I wish Obsidian had gone with a much more concise class list where each class was more generic but contained a much greater variety of skills and options to fine tune and customize it. Gkathellar has a lot of good points in this thread, there are tons of things you "could" do with the fighter but they are handicapped because those things might step on the toes of a different classes specialty. What they ended up being left with is a little plain jane and mostly about passives and toggles, they just don't feel all that active in combat. That is sort of a problem with most non caster classes in this game actually. I expect the multi classing was added in because the devs see this issue to and wanted to do something to compensate for it.
  6. Hey is that true? Doubt it unless it was changed in a patch at some point. As an aside for anyone curious about it, if you want to spot every trap/secret thing in the main game you will ultimately need a mechanics of 14 or better. Might be higher for some content in white march haven't played it yet since waiting for 2.02 patch.
  7. Nope there is no way to get around it, and no it wouldn't be a good idea to try. As the guy who made the original thread about how to create custom portraits for this game and did most of the UI art design for the IE mod I can tell you right now Eternity does not like it when you try to use an image for a resource or UI element and that image is not the exact size it expects it to be. Using higher rez pictures will actually result in a worse looking portrait in game for example over just scaling it down to the exact size the game expects. Even though the size the game is looking for may be much smaller and theoretically less detailed than your original portrait pic.
  8. 1: That depends on if you actually want to play the game or not. If you really want to play there are some annoying bugs but 2.01 will play just fine. 2: See answer 1, White March or not has no bearing on 2.01 the bugs are in the game itself not a particular area or part of the game. 3: Not really. There will always be patches and changes but Cipher is still more than viable, the "nerfs" frankly were overdue as Cipher was legitimately too strong. Fighters are fine so long as they are used correctly. The biggest mistake people are making with front liners is that they are thinking this is WoW and all that matters is max hp and how much damage they can take. If you make a fighter with not even "ok" dps and no utility skills don't be shocked if he kind of sucks for the most part.
  9. here is a pic, like I said, just as your previous image showed really except that I AM using an updated file that came with the mod itself. As for size it is hard to show in an image. The buttons appear to be 1-2 pixels wider than they used to be as parts of the frame I designed are very very slightly cut off. I doubt it is anything you can really change, fighting the scaling built into the game is something I was doing from day one anyway I can experiment with it and work around it.
  10. Late-mid game was never difficult on POTD anyways. Yeap that's the simple truth right there, there is plenty of exp and loot in the game to make mid/late game easy with or without white march so I don't really see white march giving even more exp and loot as having a bearing on the main game.
  11. Basically what you just described. Maybe it was because I had an old savefile? I am still experimenting with it right now.
  12. Okay so after an initial look at the UI I have seen two issues. 1: The scaling seems slight off what it used to be and everything is maybe 1-2 pixels bigger than it used to be? This is a pain and I will work on testing that. 2: Biggest concern... custom buttons don't appear to work, or if they do, it is some sort of magical luck based die roll. Spring if you or any of the other coders on this thing have a suggestion about the buttons let me know. I haven't taken pics yet but what I am seeing is the buttons basically get spliced up and placed at random spots, sometimes multiple "parts" of buttons in one spot. Got to be something to do with the image call in the mod where it is asking for buttons from the wrong spot on the image or something. This is of course with 2.01 patch going... which still didn't fix the blurry text. Or if it did using IE mod killed whatever fixed it.
  13. Good stuff, I will try to get to messing with the UI in the next few days and see what enhancements can be made. If anyone on the site plays at greater than 1080p resolution and is using the mod with 2.0 please send me a side IM as I made need some assistance testing some of the high rez stuff later on.
  14. Do you want your patches 1 day earlier? Or do you want DRM free? That is pretty much it. The people talking about the patch delay is hilarious, it was never any real length of time and other than a couple very early bugs no patch has really changed the game in such a way that made it significantly better or worse. If you care about achievements for some reason GoG has that now too and the autopatching as well. There is very very little reason not to choose GoG.
  15. I am pretty sure it is dead in the water at this point, but if it did release eventually it would be nice.
  16. Yeah he is serious. So is it still too hard or were you just trying to do content your party wasn't prepared for? Ok stop. Here is your problem. First stop saying the word "tank". Eder is a fighter, Pallegina is a paladin, etc etc. This is not World of Warcraft, it was never meant to be a "tank and spank", Eder's job was not supposed to be "get hit and not fall down while the DPS kill the mob". Simply put, you misunderstood what this game is. It is supposed to be a real time with pause tactical combat strategy RPG. It is not an MMO and everyone complaining about the combat keeps describing MMO combat. If that is what someone was looking for... sorry, you got the wrong game.
  17. Yes it is going to be worked on for 2.0 by the person currently in charge of the project, at least their last thread and im's I exchanged with them sure made that impression. I will also be returning to see what I can do to push the UI into being a bit better as well. EDIT: Lul he already posted too.
  18. Yeah this sort of sounds... good? The game needed many combat tweaks it was far too easy especially late game.
  19. I choose purely based on logic. Pallegina is the most likely to be a returning character, no matter how the game ends for her she will still have plenty of excuses to travel the world and do her thing. Aloth, Hiravias, and Kana Rua could all also easily make a comeback but depending on endings it could be dicey. Eder "could" be a returning character but he has many endings that would make it highly unlikely. Durance is in the same boat as Eder except unlike Eder he also only gives a crap about his own problems and is unlikely to be interested in really working with anyone else... so even less likely than Eder. Sagani and Grieving Mother straight up should not return, they both should be going back to their respective things and once there no matter the ending have no reasonable reason to leave. Sagani only has one ending where it would even be remotely possible and GM has well... no ending where her showing up again would make sense.
  20. He did. In fact I think he is now better known for appearing in kickstarter games than he is for his actual business. Which doesn't say a whole lot about his business does it ;p?
  21. Maybe in a sequel where it actually supports modding easily and allows for fan made adventures and such, or most of the other NWN features for that matter. In it's current form Online Multiplayer is unnecessary.
  22. Well I liked watching it at least OP! I never really liked the general review thread, you could trudge through that a ton and still not see some genuinely great reviews that were fun reads and also informative.
  23. It should have absolutely no effect on any of that.
  24. It is not, you only need to tell in box that product is supplement product that needs some other products to work. Yeap. A certain company I won't name seems to think releasing a fished product is a bad idea and always releases their games in parts over the course of months or even a whole year. No one seems to care when they do it so why not Eternity try it's hand too?
