  1. The idea sounds interesting from an idea stand point, but it will suck playing it. I can already seeing all the posts from angry players complaining that their mage is getting damage from using their own magic and some just dissappeared! I am also NOT a fan of limiting spell use a day, hey, I can only throw 3 spells of a certain type a day before it recharges or I need to sleep. Does fighers get to use their sword 3 times a day? Do thieves only get to use pickpocket/lockpicking 3 times a day? No, then stop trying to nerf mages. I am not sure what the solution is, I like the idea of a vampiric type magic, where you recharge by sucking power from things. Like sucking life energy, or necro energy from dead/undead, perhaps even stealing souls to recharge if your evil. How about a bank account type magic/skill system? Perhaps that is why so many people make pacts with gods/deities/demons/etc. Making a pact and you get access to a "bank" mana/power/spells/skills, etc (depending on your pact and being your pact with). You might have some type of quick cooldown but you do not run out of energy as long as your in good credit. BUT, you have a money/credit like account, the being expects you to do something for it every so often and do things to promote that beings point of view. As long as you do it, you build up mana/magic 'money' to use every day/quest..etc that you can use. However, each time you use it (magic/skill), you are using up credit/mana reserve in the 'bank'. When you run out, you start going on debt/credit. You are given a lttle time to pay off your 'debt' and build up your reserves again before the collectors come, however if you take too long or keep using your spells 'going into more debt', the being will appear (or send a represenative) and cut you off until you do a major quest for it, do several minor quests for it, or have some alternative way to pay it off. During this time when you have 'bad credit', you have to rest each day/quest to 'recharge' your magic.
  2. I want many CHOICES, I do not want to be limited to two of anything, I want many choices that go up and down the spectrum from the whitest of white, to the blackest of black and many shades of grey in between. I do NOT want bioware stupid, good, snarky, sortabad option. I want it to be like the old games where you had a lot of possible solutions and outcomes for each situation.
  3. This is exactly what makes games unfun. Trying to please every person who finds something "offensive" and people who supposedly speaks for all members of a group. I like how you pretty much said women are brainwashed sheep who are being repressed by the man to be strait mens fantasy. I mean, it could not be that women can think for themselves and LIKE to be attractive and know perfectly well that they are sexulizing themselves because they want too. Nope, must be tv, video games, movies...etc. You say I did not prove what I said, even though I used a REAL WORLD sample location to make my point. Do not believe me? Go to any place in the US where a large number of people (men and women) that is not religion based and tell me what women wear. oh wait, I forgot, women are sheep who cannot think for themselves according to you. This is the worst type of feminest argument, women are either with you, or they are brainwashed slaves to the system which you must free wether they want it or not.
  4. Dragon age had a system of slow health/mana recharge and cooldowns in battle, the spells used a common regen mana pool, you could use the high level stuff but would burn your mana out fast, you could spam the small time stuff that slowed regen mana (it was still filling, just slower) and had to wait before the high level could be used again (or not spam and it would fill up faster) however, once outside of battle and away from enemies it sped up fast and you did not have to wait long. I am sure many will say that is a horrible system for various reasons, but is it really? Is it better to have to wait forever for cooldowns outside of battle? Or to force resting to recharge/heal/memorize a spell? Not to mention just reloading every few minutes until you make the "right" choice in spell slots. Think it through, whatever system is used, the characters will be using a LOT. I never understood why anybody enjoyed resting, it was nothing more than a time sink. As for resting in general, IF they have resting, do something interesting at least, have the character have random dreams we can read with beutifull art, have the character sit in his/her bed think about the days events and be thinking to themselves thoughts in a mini game fashion to follow some mental logic trail, if we solve the mental problem, we get a eureka moment where we gain some new insight/wisdom/spell...etc.
  5. Only if they do the same thing for the men, fair is fair. I edited my options a bit, the page saved my typing before I finish. I honestly have no problem with another option slider to do the same for men. Let people play as they want, they want sexy women, go for it, they want them dressed as nuns, great, want sexy connan dudes, go for it. Options, options, options is what I am for.
  6. I seriously think they should have a option in settings to change the armour/women looks type. - Fully clothed - all, women show no skin, armour is unisex - moderate - all women dress in mixed clothing (sexy, to fully cothed), armour is unisex - sexy - all women dress showing skin or sexy clothing, armour is sexy showing some skin and contorts to body
  7. And I hate they caved, now thanks to my own post, I do not see the altered image character as a she, but now as a dude with long hair and lipstick. Maybe they should just remove full body armour all together.
  8. NOT-THIS-ISSUE-AGAIN I could have sworn that this same exact issue was made and the mods locked and and said any further talk about this would be posted in the off topic forum because these ALWAYS degrade into yelling matches. Ok, since this popped up AGAIN, then I guess I might as well stir the sludge Since the post title is loaded with "objectification" in it, I will expand outside of just the armur a bit to cover . First, the whole boobarmour thing is probably LESS about sexulizing the character, but to make it easier to recognize male and female characters. Looking at the picture of before and after the boobarmour modification. The first one, obvious female, second one, might be a female, or a dude with long hair and lipstick. Who knows since men and women will look exactly alike now. Remember, these will be SMALL sprites on the screen, the fact is that boobs make it easier to distinguish men from women when they are wearing near identical stuff. Of course, now everybody is unisex, which seems to be the goal of some people on this forum who wish to pretend there is no difference between men and women. Secondly, there is nothing wrong with making characters physically appealing and showing it off. A lot of us (who are no longer teenagers by a long shot) LIKE that feature. It isn't all about horny teenagers, its about a power fantasy setting and many of us enjoy seeing attractive women (or people) showing off skin. People seemed to enjoy it in the old games, but now there is this push from a vocal monority on every single damn forum on the internet to remove anything that offends some fictional idolized politically correct version of women. A lot of people are saying the game is objectifying women. Um, lets talk about "REAL" women. Go to the mall, or better yet, go to walmart if you are in the US. You will get every walk of life (maybe not the uber rich) there and see real women. A lot of REAL women dress showing skin and wearing clothes that show their bodies and highlight their features like breasts, thighs..etc. You think this is accidental? It is on purpose, unless you think they are naive or being forced to wear it. You know those women who are in the military? Yes, they wear military gear in the military, but when out in civilian life they dress in revealing clothes, go to clubs, do hookups...etc. I can agree that in cases of MILITARY or certain religious groups might force women to dress like nuns, in most cases women will use their looks to their advantage. I don't think the game objectifies women by making them appealing, I think its just showing reality as is and not some fake politically correct reality that does not exist. I do find it ironic that the game is supposed to be harken back to the old days where the games were created for fun and didn't worry about political correctness. I will be very dissapointed if in order to please one group, they go the censor route and take away things many of us liked, like not worrying about political correctness. Ok, said my peace, mod should move this and combine it with the exact same subject in the anything goes forum.
  9. Mages are my favorite character, but I really hope they don't turn their magic to nothing but fighting, that would suck. Wow, my magic consits of nothing but fireballs, lightning, and other offensive/defensive magic. How original. /sarcasm.
  10. I like this, but think it could go further. Why do people summon evil demons, gods, beings beyond time and space, super powerful entities, etc, because they want something. The few times demons have been in games, they didn't offer much. What do people usually want with sommoned beings? Fame, power, immortality, money, forbidden knowledge, love/lust, etc, perhaps its not something selfish, perhaps its to save someone, or bring someone back from the dead, or some other reasons. I would like to be able to make deals like that, oh not starting off, you have to work you way up, to get something, you have to do quests for the entity in question as part of the pact. It should start off small, maybe even silly, maybe even beneficial...oh, you want to know the combination to the lock in the safe? Sure master, I will even give you the power to be invisible and here is some gold to help you on your travel, and all I ask is you write on the iconic statue of the high priest with the sygil of my name in paint. Is it really too much to ask master? It is easily washable...ah, good, here is the paint. The idea is that the being seems sooo reasonable, and really, you are getting so much for so little. Then, before you know it, the being has you wrapped around its finger and you will do anything to gain more power(or whatever you want), even sacrificing your friends and family. It would be good if there is different beings to summon to bargain with that specialize in different things, each with its own quests/benefits. Good, neutral, evil..etc
  11. Well, it is obvious a lot of us are TIRED of the fantasy setting. I could stomach fantasy, but elves and dwarves...meh. Even if you change them up, they are still elves and dwarves, really sick of them. Was hoping for something really new like cyberpunk, scifi, space opera, noir, urban fantasy, horror..er...anything different..with some new races. Alas. I AM still excited, but not nearly as much as I was before.
  12. No time limits, I do not need an artificial stick forcing me to HURRY up and not have time to enjoy or explore the world. I mean, if you want to hurry through YOUR game then go ahead, but for those of us who like to take the time and explore, do not punish us by trying to make us use YOUR playstyle.
  13. I would also like to summon any creature in the game along with any being, demon, ghosts, other worldly creature, etc. I am always bummed when the creature summoning is limited to wolf, bear..etc. Pretty stupid generic stuff. A bit related, I would like to see a polymorph spell where you can transform into creatures/beings you slain.
  14. I hate having to rest to use spells or recharge. All that does is force you to spam resting which is stupid. I am for cooldowns or a quick way to recharge without forcing resting. This might be one they need to set up optional choices in options for the players to decide what they prefer.
  15. I'm getting this sort of a vibe from your post: "There is only one type of Magic user, they're all evocation specialists that throw fireballs. Magic users specialized in Transmutation style magics, Illusion style magics, Enchantment style magics, Divinination style magics and many other styles of magical application do not exist, and never have existed, and because of the existence of one style of high damage magic user none of these other types should exist." Correct me if that was not the vibe you wished me to get. I'm not even for the idea particularly, I just think . . . there's something amiss in your view of magic users. Nope, what I mean is that in crpgs and even in normal rpgs, no class should make other class obsolit, mage my practice illusion, mage my practice destruction, mage my practice conjuration, the thing is to make them orginal so that illusion mage can not do everything better and more than thief It isn't better, its just different styles to solve the same problem. Some might go rambo, some might pickpocket and take the key, some might do a quest to get the key, some might bluff their way into getting the key, some might morph into the owner and trick them into getting the key.
  16. Shadow magic - Make shadow wepons - make shadow creature/monster - make shadow douppleganger - invisible in shadows - make a room/area darker - teleport to shadow areas (good for thief/assassin)
  17. Life Leech - good old, suck the lifeforce from the enemy to refill your own health
  18. Mental spells Astral projection - can seperate the body to scope out an area, has a time limit and range limit from body Possession (works with astral projection) - In astral form can jump in and take over bodies near by. Use the same skills/abilities of the host body, with higher levels can access more and more of their skills/abilities and some knowledge. There is a slight glow to the eyes so the character needs a high bluff/impersonate skill or will be recognized as being possessed. The time limit is removed but the range limit is still there. When the character is attacked in another body, a fraction of the damage is taken in by the PC original body.
  19. Necromancy Soul eater - capture a limited number of souls, if you are full you have to release a soul to open a slot (number grows with experience) Skills of the dead - can replace one (more as your level grows) skill or ability with one a soul has (it defaults to whichever is higher), can also use spells the soul knew. Raise the dead - general raise the corpses in area to fight for you. Rise of the fallen - Can summon the bodies of any soul you hold to fight for you as an undead thralls(using all their abilities and skills), the necromancer cannot use any ability/skill/knowledge of any soul as long as the undead thrall is summoned, when its dismissed or is destroyed, the soul is returned to the player character.
  20. The stuff your showing is a bit all over the map. Basically, what you've put up indicates that you want traditional high fantasy art. there is nothing really cutting edge or unique about what you've shown (or for that matter, what anyone else has). Not that there's anything wrong with that, they are your tastes. Some of the work styles I can see in the game, and some I think would be a poor fit. Anyway, I like the concept art and have played around with it in photoshop with colors etc., and I think that they will lead to some really nice finished character designs that have a realistic basis. I think that will create a nice juxtaposition to environments and creatures. I was just pointing out different styles, high fantasy art is nice I do admit. I also like the other posters mention of the old gaming books art style, that was nice too. I do want something more exotic though than the general fantasy art. One cool thing that would be neat that I have not seen before is if the art changed on your world view and how you play. Going with the generic good/evil paths, if you are playing the hero, the art would get more hopeful, characters would seem more sympathetic, friendly, the world is brighter, it still has darkness, but it is more muted. However, if you went the evil route, the art would get darker, the same characters would look more sinister darkness is prevelant. An example, if your 'good' you might see an art of a smiling elderly lady(grandmother? neighbor?) watching some kids playing a game with sticks, covered in dirt and laughing in the sun with innocense in their eyes. The evil art, would show the same elderly women, bent over, eyeing the kids with suspision (is she a witch that is going to capture the kids and eat them? An elderly woman worried about being mugged by the kids?), the kids are not playing with sticks, but with human bones in a dark overcast sky. Laughing with curled lips, their clothes are dirty with bloody cuts, cruelty in their eyes. This is to show the affects of the world, but also the mentality and how the character views the world.
  21. Thinking of the fallout game setting where you had language/violence filters. I was wondering what filters could be used so everyone could customize the game to their play style. There is very different opinions on what everyone wants. Toggable options that could be done - blood, exploding bodies - killable children - eating requirment - sleeping requirement - resting - health/mana cooldown/regeneration - permadeath - degradable equipment - Romances (although I put this in as an option, I think having it in and simply ignoring it should be enough) - attractive womens clothes/armour (I personally like women in games to be attractive and showing some skin, I am not a fan of the push to turn women into sexless beings in games) - showing percentage/chance/skill/ability that is used in conversations topic
  22. What I do not want to see - treated exactly the same regardless what species/race/sex/etc I am, characters should be treated DIFFERENTLY on a host of factors, both good and ill. - no real world political correctness - mandatory sleeping, eating, farting, potion drinking, armour degrading etc annoying time sinks realistic simulator micromanagement hell - binary choices, you only have TWO choices to this problem, you should have a lot of possible ways to solve problems - dumbed down choices - no relationships outside the quests. I want to make friends, love interests, rivals..etc to give my character more meaning than the all mighty quests - the inevetable backstab trope - oh, hey mysterious stranger who is our friend all of a sudden, I am sure you won't backstab me later in the game...yea right, or if you are going to include it, then please make the reasoning interesting. - solve every porblem with violence. I like non violent characters, let me optionally solve problems without violence. - meaningless choices that will have the exact same outcome - let us be evil/dark path, not just sortof bad path - dumb evil choices, give multiple evil choices that are not simple evil extreme, have it go through the spectrum of evil. - level scaling - loot scaling - timed quests - Calling the game mature, but is really just a PG-13 game with token mature elements in it.
  23. I would love to see a TRUE alien culture society, but every games 'alien' culture is just reskinned humans, and the culture is an overused trope which is based on a real world culture borrowed and changed a little. I want something trully unique that has not been done before.
  24. The title said which styles do you prefer, I choose something else besides the only two choices listed. The concept art influences the direction, I just wanted to point out there are much more styles and direction than what has been shown which *again* I feel it is a little too traditionaly safe. I could be wrong and it might be something really amazingly original that will blow us away, but again they did say we will have elves and dwarves...sooo.... :/
  25. I think the boobplate was to tell the guys from the women in the game because of the camera angle. Now they will all look alike I guess.
