  1. Like what I see, only a few little nit picks. - Most of the description have the characters talk about combat use, I would like to see skills described being able to use outside of combat. An example like the cipher, if you can manipulate souls, then I would like to have that option to be used in dialog conversations and gain abilities that are social/non violent based. - The description seems to make the characters "the good guy". Which most games do, but I really hope we can be good, evil, neutral, shades of grey. - The gods, I hope to see different gods in the same domain. Like we have differnt historical cultures who have different gods that cover same fields like fertility, death, love, war, health, etc. Also, what about forbidden gods like lovecraft inspired. I really like the art piece and it gives the impression that there is some sort of lovecraft creature and necromancy going on, instead of destrying the big bad entity, what about the option to join it? Being able to summon horrors beyond time and space and using necromancy to bring back my enemies to fight for me would definetly make me join the dark side. Like I said, minor nit picking and like what I see.
  2. I hope this isn't codespeak for including a few super rare *token* moments in the game to say they included X thing, but really just avoided the controversal topic all together. Its something a lot of game devs do, I hope we are not going that route.
  3. Their isometric sprites. Who cares? Everyone complaining about the 'boob plate'! Maybe not now, but the outrage was great, forcing them to change the design or to lose money :/ Boobs armor worked in our comics and games for years, but now this Feminism equality agenda wants to change everything, I'm telling you guys, this won't work like you are expecting. Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure most of the people complaining are GUYS. That is the thing that is getting me, it isn't even mostly women complaining...its the guy...er...feminest? I just don't think they like womens forms and that is why they want to hide them so badly. It isn't just on armour they are pushing this, I have seen on other sites they want to remove it from art, pictures, etc, not having women showing any skin and covering them up so you are not sure if it is a guy or a girl. I only have seen this group online and thankfully not met one in real life. I have visions of them looking at every women showing off skin and going up to them saying they are being repressed by the man to be dressed up as sluts for evil mens pleasure and they are their to SAVE them from their brainwashing. Holy crap, I'm losing my patience here. When I started the thread I specifically said that practicality was what mattered to me along with a small concern for some marginal sexism. My issue was with women warriors who wear armor not using it with practicality. Mages and rouges can be more liberal, especially if it fits their characters, but women warriors just no. And the fact that you're trying to pin this on the sexual repression of people who are against stupid armor designs says a lot about you. No one here is trying to be a white knight, get over yourself. I was replying to this:

  5. The only thing is that It looks hastily put together and is seems to be riding on the coat tails of kickstarter like PE. I did not like that they kept going...and we will make TWO games....TWO games...TWO games. Um, I would rather they focus on ONE game and if it does well then make another. They also didn't have any real info except basic bullet points of popular stuff. Although the permadeath is a turn off to me. Also, I get the feeling it will be more diablo hack and slash then exploration/NPC chatting..etc. So....I don't know. I did put in money, but because I do want more kickstarter to draw in more RPG games like wasteland, shadowrun, PE..etc. Luckily they had the early adopter $15 tier or I would have seriously probably not put money it. In a related note, those of you who like space sims and played the original nexus and enjoyed it, there is a kickstarter for nexus 2 which takes place 25 years after the original. I know its not an RPG, but I loved the original and hope it gets funded and figured some of you might not have known about it.
  6. This is a great example of what is wrong with not having having a female armour body design. Is that a guy or a girl? I honestly cannot tell.
  7. Well, a lot of the anti-boob armour complaint who are saying everyone who wants boob armour are sexually frustrated male teens living in basements and are not considered (mature). Ok, then the those group who are saying it are brainwashed political correct tools who who seem to have a mental problem with the idea of sex differences in general and wants to pretend men and women are EXACTLY the same and want to remove any annoying contradictory thing like BOOBS that offends their imaginary utopian world view that the world is only filled with unisex androganous people.
  8. What games had magocrogracies? I know there have been games that have had theocrocies. I personally would not mind a magocrociey.
  9. I would like to see a few 'dark' and unique governments. I have had a few ideas on this, For example, what if the area is sealed off to outsiders, with rumors of dark things going on. You go in to find out that a cult that worships (insert dark deity, demon, god, lovecraft entity..etc). The has the right to conscript anybody, a lottery happens every few months where somone must give their firstborn as a human sacrifice. When people die they are sent to the necromancers to be brought back as undead soldiers/servants. The top 'nobles' get power and immortilty from the deity. perhaps they get turned to vampires, or undead litches, or just kept young by the deity, etc. The only way nobles gain power is through political or physical assassination which is seen as acceptible since anybody stupid enough to get killed or embarassed desearves to be replaced. So the lower nobles (who are usually the children/descendants of the top nobles) are always trying to kil their parents, and the parents are always trying to kill their children/descendents. Perhaps it looks bad, but perhaps it has a trade off, like every citizen has jobs with decent pay, so nobody goes hungry, the nobles do protect the people, and thanks to the dark deity, everyone is unusually very healthy. Another could be a small society of intelects like the show eureka, where brains, tolerance, etc are more important than physical activity, race, sex, etc. Since it is a fantasy setting, this could be a combination of theocracy/technocracy. Of course the downside of this could be that they have a "for the greater good" type of world view. War is breaking out by the evil empire? Create a manhatten type device that will destroy all of them, perhaps it is a plague that is tied to their genetic code if it is a different species, however it would kill all that race, not just them. Or perhaps is really is a bomb, it will kill the empire, along with millions of inocent people in the blast, however the world view is the price is acceptible if it stops the war and saves lives in the long run). Perhaps their solution to criminal behavior is a magic/medical technique to alter their personality into a productive citizen (a magical labotomy), perhaps they view citizens who are not high in inteligence inferior and it is ok to draft them into experiments and/or have the right to take body parts in important magical/medical discovery. What about those who think the races are not advanced enough and experiment in altering/enhacing their bodies to new higher forms through magical/technical ways. Perhaps they are the nobles, those who create new scientific/magical progress for the betterment of society, regardless of the cost. Then you have the merchant societies (look at the US), where it isn't run by nobles, but by money and wealth. In this society, financial progress is the most important, drugs, slaves, prostitutes, gambling..etc. Might look a lot like the mafia.
  10. Fine overused generic Player character RACES then. Oh, and yes humans are used in every game, but people are human and can identify them.
  11. That's not nerfing you <CENSORED>. You nuke a room full of baddies, wield powers beyond comprehension of most mortals.. and you call yourself nerfed because you can't spam them forever? Seriously? No it's not. You have a strange notion that a mage must do nothing but fling spells constantly and be compeltely incompetent and worthless in doing anything else, otherwise he's not a mage. You also have a notion that magic must be a super-special awesoem weapon that is unlimited. I beg to differ. Well, <CENSORED> to you too. I do think mages are nerfed a lot of times, spending half a fight having to hide in a corner because you are limited on how many times you can use a spell or run out of mana while fighters can swing all day. The only time mages are really powerful is when they can do area wide attacks (which is only when you are high leveled) getting a lot of enemies at once, otherwise they are pretty vulnerable for attacks and the damage dealt to individual magical attacks is usually not much better than the fighter who can use unlimited spam attack with his glowing sword of holly rightous furry. Oh, use a wepon besides magic? great, so my mage who has spend how many years of learning magic to bend the universe to his will is now suddenly reduced to no better than the weakest of fighters. Here is a thought, why don't we have fighters run out of physical attacks and are forced to use magic to be fair.
  12. There was a long discussion with one of the devs - characters will run out of spells during fights if the idea doesn't radically change before they start programming it. So basically, mages are going to be nerfed like usual, sucks for us who play mage characters...like usual. Last I heard Project Eternity is going to be a party based game. They said at the very beginning you could use a party, but you can also go solo through the game if you want also.
  13. I like them. I do agree that the monks cloth needs to go down a little lower, I do not see the point of the cloth if the crotch is out in the open then. I like the gladiators, they do seem mad maxish which is a good thing. Overall, all good.
  14. Except they're all subjective preferences. Some people like cooldown and some people don't. Having or not having a cooldown system does not objectively make the game better or worse. Having or not having representation for certain political philosophies like utilitarianism, communism, libertarianism, etc. does not objectively make the game better or worse. It makes the game better for some people and worse for others. How is discussion of issues like gender or race equality different? How do you know that preference for treatment of gender or race does not figure into a person's enjoyment of the game in the same way that treatment of political philosophies, morality, and ethics does? Because its an political correct ideology being shoved down EVERYONES throat by a very small vocal minority that will not be happy until everybody removes everything controversal in the game, everyone treated exactly the same, characters are basically unisex, no racism, discrimination, sexism, etc...basically a pg disney game. I am fairly sure many (most?)of us put money in to get the games that were made before political groups started telling everybody what they could NOT do in their own works because if offended them. Where has anyone suggested any of that? I've only seen people asking the developers to be more sensitive to the subject and give more equal representation for women and minorities. I have not seen anyone demand the developers to not include any controversy. I have not seen anyone say that they'll withdraw their support if the developers don't eliminate racism, sexism, and discrimination or give more representation to women and minorities. Do you have any evidence to support your assertion or are you just making guesses about people's intentions? Heh, you must have showed up late, there were whole threads about this. YES, people said they would pull out money on this topic or stupid stuff like if boob armour was in the game, that all people should be treated exaclty the same, no racism, sexism, etc. The threads got closed down and/or moved to the off topic forum. Yet, these threads keep opening up again and again by the same people saying the same thing over and over again. Worrying about how this or that might offend someone is the fastest way to turn a potentially fantastic mature game into a generic off the shelf disney game. There are a bazillion Politically correct games out there and the majority of them suck. We do not need another one.
  15. Overused, then? People can identify with humans because everybody is human (supposedly anyway). You can still have fantasy and change it up, but when you start going with such GENERIC chatacters like elves and dwarves, people cannot help but have some unflattering assumptions on where the game direction will go. You either go mostly with what elves and dwarves are used for or you change them up so much they are unrecognized mess and wonder why they even used them. My gripe is that the game (before stretch goals) only had 5 PC races. One is human, two are elves and dwarves...that leaves what? a whoping two possible unique races(again, before the stretch goals were released)? we know one race is godtouched so that leaves one race left. I hope the last race is not another overused traditional race like ogre, halfling..etc or I might lose it.

  17. For modern action RPGs you might have a point... but none of those are oldschool isometric cRPGs, are they? Again, as someone who loves the traditional fantasy setting, I look at GOG.com's collection of RPGs and really don't see an abundance of great cRPGs in that setting. If you're someone who doesn't particularly care for fantasy in the first place, then that's a different issue altogether. I don't particularly care for the post-apocalyptic setting, but if Obsidian decided to make another post-apoc RPG, i'm not going to start moaning about the setting being overused. I'll just accept that that game probably isn't for me. Do not get me wrong, I accept that this is what they want to do. However, I see nothing wrong with me or any other people mentioning their dissapointment so that it will hopefully help stear future games in a different direction. Perhaps even change a gew things for the better in this game also.
  18. There was a long discussion with one of the devs - characters will run out of spells during fights if the idea doesn't radically change before they start programming it. So basically, mages are going to be nerfed like usual, sucks for us who play mage characters...like usual. Also, they said we can play solo, so I would like them to explain how a mage could go through a game solo without being forced to learn something unmagey things. Someone explained mages as glass cannons, they are super powerful, but they are weak physically, that was the trade off. I do agree to a point, but they dont need to be so weak that one hit kills mages (I have had that happen in a few games...I was like, what the hell just happened?!?!?!). They did say mages would wear armour, which I suppose is good, but I an not a fan of them being forced to use swords or other wepons, that is another class all together.
  19. That is some interesting political correct history white washing you got there. This must be the disney version of our history because it sounds too politically correct for the history I read about.
  20. Not a good example, we are all human and most people WANT to play human as their player character. Elves and dwarves are fictional characters that just seem to apear in every fantasy setting for whatever reason. Sure we can change them up, but what is the point of including them if you are going to change them from what they are known for? It would have been better to just create a new race to fit the new class than use overused races. Sure, we know there are snow dwarves...not much info outside that, but what is the point of making dwarves that live above ground and in the snow? Why not just create another race that lives in the snow and have a really unique history/skills instead of using short huma..er.. I mean dwarves. A few overused tropes I hope are not in this game, but fear will be. 1. Dwarves and Elves (possibly humans also) do not like each other. Probably were at war with each other at one time. 2, The hatred will still be there and the different groups will be our *token* races that is supposed to represent racism instead of humans being racist or bigots with their own people, so the devs can avoid any real controversy but praise themselves how mature the game is. 3. Dragons
  21. It will be different, but probably not different enough. Including elves and dwarves automatically gets a big negative from a lot of people like me who are just tired of seeing them in just about every single fantasy game. The only thing we have seen that even hints it might have something unique is that there are guns in the game. Still, from information we have seen seems to be leaning on the usual fantasy tropes which makes a lot of us go...meh. I think obsidian will do a good job in making it interesting, but I do think a lot of us are burnt out on fantasy in general. Skyrim, the witcher 2, dragon age, kingdoms of amalur, two worlds, dragons dogma, ego draconis..etc Do not get me wrong, there are some fantastic amazing games in here like the witcher series....BUUUTTT, still the fantasy setting IS getting a little stale. My thought process Anouncement of an old school RPG kickstarter by obsidian -> *WHAT?!?!?! Take my money, TAKE MY MONEY!!!, yippeeee, I hope its something really original and a unique setting world like PST, can't wait to see what they make!* -> anouncement that it would be a fantasy setting -> *meh, fantasy is overused, but as long as they do not use the same old races and change the setting it is still good* -> anouncement that two of the races are elves and dwarves -> (eye twitch) *seriously? elves and dwarves?...they could had gone any direction and done anything new...ANYTHING...and we have elves and dwarves...sigh..., it will still be good and I am still excited...but.....elves and dwarves....sigh....* -> next anouncment with some new info ->????
  22. VTMB had characters react differently based on gender and character type. It added a lot to the game. I do not like games that treat everybody EXACTLY the same regardless of race, gender, belief, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqiFAm7R-ZY It shows how a male vampire PC is treated by a NPC, then at 2.00 spot, it shows how the same NPC reacts to a crazy famale vampire PC.
  23. I like the un-boobed armor better. It just looks less silly. True. The initial image was probably too far, I think that women need to look feminine and men need to look masculine though. Women might not like pure fan service characters but they do still like to play feminine characters! Well probably. As I mentioned in another thread, the characters will be pretty small and the boobarmour was probably more to easily distinguish male and female units/characters. Now all armoured characters will be unisex. Also, I cannot shake the thought "is it a women or a guy with long hair?" when I look at the second image.
  24. Most of the stuff argued like, cooldowns, resting, the nature of good and evil choices, etc are good to be debated about. There are different play styles and some things that people overwelmingly do not want and some thing people do. It is also a good place to get ideas, so debates themselves are fine and the devs should keep an eye out. However, the boobarmour/women treated in games threads are a different thing all together. This felt less about actual debating to improving the game and more about shoving a groups personal political correctness/personal ideology down our throats. I DO feel the devs caved in and are trying to avoid the issue all together which is very disapointing and makes me wonder what else they will not include to avoid other issues. No racism? no drugs? no sex? no slaves? no sexism?,etc I do not play games to play a politically correct propaganda machine, I play to escape reality.
