Depending on who you ask, all their exes live in texas, and at least one of their Exes is Jesus. Athough it's pronounced Hay-Zues. I think you meant Eses.

They represent ideologies.

Agreed. And that's not a knock on the fight. (the fight was actually fairly entertaining). It's just that The level of hype for this fight was surrealistically high. Had it lived up to the hype it would have had to have been the greatest fight ever. And someone would have had to have died at the end of the 12th round or something. But again, It's was fairly good, even if it lacked the Drama of Ali-Frazier or the brutality of Hagler-Hearns. And more importantly, it was *decisive*. None of that bad scoring, premature-stoppage nonsense that often plagues big fights. Instead, we got 2 guys with contrasting styles, who fought the way they typically do, and we found out who wins such a match up. And really, That's all I personally wanted from this fight. For the better part of a decade we've been debating the topic of "who would win between Pacquaio and Mayweather" and tonight we found out. And, a sidenote. Mayweather is a better fighter than most people give him credit for. A lot of people don't like him because they think he's "boring". But for me, I've grown to admire his style. His defensive skills are almost non-human, and from a student's point of view It's neat to watch him make his opponents miss by a mile....or by an inches....constantly. The thing is that his style doesn't win the crowd an it doesn't lead to any decisive victory, so people get to talk **** because it is unclear who won. Technical wins might as well be draws since no one will accept the judge's decision unless it gives them a reason to brag. That said Mayweather is overrated and the fight should had gone on longer, we should go back to the times of no round limit and have them fight until a decisive conclusion.

You can't really expect reality to match that kind of hype, it was what I expected because I knew that it would come down to the judges. Which means everyone in the world gets to talk **** about who really won and how it was rigged. Please, begin.

Everyone wants Pacquiao to win but he's been out of practice for a while and Mayweather has momentum. I still want Pacquiao to win though.

You mean the awesome thing about Watchmen, right?

Death of a loved one and revenge are powerful motivators in literature and good devices to move the story forward, a narrow view of it is the "woman in refrigerator" trope (Quite frankly I regard tropes as narrow views on plot devices that are distilled into bites of pop folklore) The reason a lot of women are killed to motivate the protagonist is that a lot of the protagonist are heterosexual men. As they don't seem bothered when it happens to men I believe the real cause of their grievance has more to do with gender rather than with the act itself.

Yeah and the swings look like a pair of drunks fighting, it would be great if you actually look proficient at some point. I mean, after a while you should figure out how to swing a sword without falling forward and getting cut.

Addressing some points, foreign people will sometime revert to their language when they lack the word they need to express themselves. I do it all the time, it helps when either words fail me or when they won't suffice. Actually, the most intersting part of the setting where the Engwithan and their culture because of their ties to souls, Adra and therefore to the physics of the PoE universe. Every other culture can be summarized with two words and what bothers me is that one is often tied to the real world (E.G: Japanese Sharks, Black Renaissance...). Hard to become immersed in culture that's stuck in uncanny valley. The most interesting cultures seem to be the ones less developed. Before you start babbling about nonsense words that sound alike you should try to figure out why they sound alike, etymological roots and what not. I agree with everything else, it felt dull probably because they aimed for secure rather than experimenting and taking some risks. I'm hoping PoE will be the NW2 to an upcoming MoTB.

There are just three types of games, simulation, murder simulators and puzzles.

Take a census of the people asking and their date of joining, I think that after PoE the average IQ of these forums fell down. No offense to anyone.

I don't know who that is. The stepmother of Christian Bale.

I hope the devs will be aware of this thread in the off-topic

Just so you know, a weirdo that hates cats is worse that one that likes them. At least the latter has some joy. -
Remember how we became conditioned to accept pay to win on Dungeon Keeper? Oh wait, that **** didn't fly. Really what they're doing is creating a better environment for piracy.

Class action lawsuits against fans who provide unofficial patches? I dunno, do you think we can use class action lawsuit to force electronic manufacturers to provide support after the typical one-year warranty period? So what makes you think class action lawsuit will force developers to provide long-term support for free? What law requires software developer to completely patch their products? If there is such a law, then a lot of developers - Obsidian being a prime example - have broken and are breaking that law right now. The owner of the IP is responsible for it so they could have sent a cease and desist letter. I don't know if it would hold up in court that they are liable but certainly it would hurt their image. I don't think any developer worth their salt is unable to see that public opinion affect sales, but Valve hasn't been a developer for a while now.

What you believe is ultimately your business, provided you don't try to "fix" other people to conform to your beliefs. Because we do not yet fully understand the underlying mechanisms that give rise to identification with a given gender, (or any other given personality trait, for that matter) we simply cannot be certain that they need repairs simply because they show a behavior different from the majority of the sample. But that's exactly what we're doing — we tell these people, openly or tacitly, that they are wrong. The dragon simile is pretty cool, so I'm totally going to steal it. Imagine that you are exactly as you are now, but every male around you identifies as a dragon. They go around flapping their arms and yelling all the time like imbeciles. And you either pretend that you are a dragon too (and mimic their idiotic antics) or are looked down on as a deviant, un-dragonly, a freak of nature, or a plain old attention-whore. But deep down, you identify as something else, only you don't know exactly what it is because everyone around you with whom you share a phenotypic differentiation identifies as a silly fictional giant flying lizard... fun, huh? If the government recognizes otherkin can I own one of them? What about raising them as cattle or eating them? If we kill them will it be manslaughter or animal abuse? I see no reason why society should let clearly morose individuals dictate the norm, but as a macabre ghoulish person I think I would enjoy the kind of mockery that would rise from treating people who think they're animals like animals. Now, let's ask those transgender about their pregnancies.

I find it mind boggling how anyone can shoot him down when he makes perfect sense. Transgender isn't about love or attraction, like heterosexuality and homosexuality are. It's about how one perceives themselves. Just because I perceive myself as a dragon, doesn't make me a dragon. It doesn't mean everyone should view me as a dragon when I'm biologically a human. It's a mental problem and instead of working harder to find the underlying cause, we lump it into the pile of equal rights. Would you take Otherkin seriously if they campaigned like trans people? Social justice warriors have perversely twisted gender dysmorphia into an equal rights issue like homosexuality or race. There are cases of hermaphrodism where the child gender is chosen for them and they eventually transition because they feel they are the wrong gender (without an foreknowledge of their condition) these are rare though.

Homeless Man Survives by Having One-Night Stands with Women
Orogun01 replied to ktchong's topic in Way Off-Topic
Well, I'm not among them, and I've never heard of this. You really can't imagine yourself not being attracted to a physically attractive woman because of her personality or something else like that? :U Maybe he just hasn't met the wrong one yet. -
The unpleasant truth? More like gossiping. If you have any actual topic to debate rather than Bruce Jenner transition such as transgender issues or whether or not it is a mental disorder then please state that intent on the OP. I can't say that I ever watched the Kardashians or cared about their continued existence.

Will we ever see an cRPG with semi-realistic combat?
Orogun01 replied to eschaton's topic in Computer and Console
In a medieval setting you wouldn't die from just one blow, unless its a lethal blow to vital areas that cause instant death. In a CRPG setting a realistic medieval combat wouldn't work simply because CRPGs have a bad habit of always putting you in encounters where you're are outnumbered and limiting the amount of companions you can travel with. So unless you're a band of mounted knights fighting hordes of peasants I'm pretty sure that numbers will eventually win out. Particularly if the developers forget to program panic into the AI.
