  1. I'm touched by your concern for my levels of understanding regarding the ways a totalitarian state operates, I really am, but I have lived in one, thankyouverymuch. So maybe if you could dial down the condescension, it would be much appreciated. Sorry, it is hard to convey tone over the web. I'm genuinely curious as I realize my perspective may differ from most. Also, you didn't answer my question.
  2. I'm just pointing out that the complete breakdown of civil liberties people envision as the ultimate and inevitable end result of "restricting freedom of speech in video games" seems not to have happened in Germany (yet). Germans had a very specific reason for banning that topic (although history revisionists will speculate about it) They also had banned any violence against humans in games, I don't know if this still holds true. That said, I'm curious what the First World standard for them to consider a state oppressive is. Because it seems like you people have a very Hollywood idea of what a totalitarian state is. You originally from Cuba right, I imagine you have experienced real dictatorial policies ? Whats your definition? I don't think that there is a one size fit all definition, but on some part propaganda makes it look worse than it seems. I know this because every day we were pumped full of news about how bad the US government is. Now I get to see the same from the other side, and how the US demonizes their opponents, so I can't really say that free speech looks all that different from what I had before. ??? What do you mean? What is a Hollywood or non-Hollywood idea of what a totalitarian state is? An edited version of the truth which focuses on what you want to show rather than what it actually is like day to day and what the people living under it actually want.

  4. I use grenades against wraiths as they allow me more freedom of movement. Enemies have long winding attacks on which they run up to you, I don't know if you fence or have fought in real life but once you're committed to an attack it becomes difficult to change it's direction without it losing power as you have to exert force away from the target to compensate the difference between where the hit is heading and where you want it to go. Hence why I find it a bit suspect when a common bandit has enough presence of mind in the middle of an attack to notice that I dodge and switch directions. Plus enemies strike you without facing your direction, so I can clearly see how the animation is mismatched with the hit. (Think of it like Dark Souls 2). Also, bandits block your attacks without actually unsheathing their weapon. Every time you strike an enemy it seems like their guard is perfect despite the fact that they are common bandits or that they are switching from bow to sword and you caught them "unprepared". To continue the comparison in Shadow of Mordor I could vault over a shield (unless the enemy had a specific perk) I could also counter their moves, striking them didn't result in me being stun-locked and I could use powers on them. So I had more ways to deal with them other than use power or counter. After reviewing this I'm not longer sure if these are problems with the combat or with the leveling system, since it seems that the only virtue of leveling is not dying of one hit and causing more damage. While you gain more versatility with abilities your are still restricted by the slots and the fact that the most useful and powerful abilities require you to commit yourself to a path. For a game about a character with a mixed class it doesn't really encourage multiclassing.
  5. But that's the only tactic that seems to work, rolling works but leaves you to far away to counter attack. Dodge leaves you in range but you have trouble using it repeatedly and against multiple enemies (big problem when fighting drowners) Domination requires some levels before it can be used on battle and not to mention the awful skill slot system. I guess that it's should be called auto aim instead (even though is not a shooter) anyways I'm kind of tired of dodging ahead of time just to see enemies change their attack mid flight an veer into my location. The reason why I think Arkham was superior is how different units work together, they have someone tanking, ranged DPS and regular guys in multitude. Enemies in W3 don't have any group tactics that you need to overcome, despite having created different variants of the same monster they all behave the same as their low counterpart. Fighting drowners doesn't feel that much different from fighting wolves and fighting a ****atrice is the same as fighting a Forktail. Best fight I've had so far was when I managed to found Foglets, Water Hags and Drowners together. BTW, Golden Oriole+Devil's Puffball best way to kill humans.
  6. I still haven't found an use for some of the dections though, too damn specific.
  7. Decotions are one of my favorite parts in this game, you get the right mix and you're invincible. Sadly they don't make combat any more exciting.
  8. I wish that Obsidian would listen to their own advice. Combat in PoE is a piece of crap. Combat in W3 is awesome. Of course the "push x for awesomeness" crowd lack any skill to learn it. But that's not the game problem. I really like all the small details that come out when you master the combat and know your enemy and what to use against which one. Like counterattack will cut off grave hag poisonous tongues or Aksii sign will force Alghul to hide his thorns, Yrden will cancel specters transparency, which creatures you can parry, which attack can be dodged and which one you need to roll out from etc. There is plenty little tactics you can play and if you also add equipment and skill choices - sky is the limit. If it comes to combat I would place it right with Batman Arkham series which is the absolute top combat mechanics. Actually I wanted something more like a hack and slash where you have actually control of your character instead of the same "push x for awesomeness" with the awesome removed. Arkham at least had some diversity in the ways that you dealt with enemies, W3 you just use Quen, dodge to the side (curse whomever programmed enemies to autotrack you) and counterattack with a fast attack because power attacks are slow and you don't have that greatest of powers: perfect autotracking. You seem overly excited for something that's banal and poorly designed.
  9. I think that a great misconception about video game writing is that its about words, which is why it goes unappreciated a lot of times.
  10. Do you have butterflies on your stomach? Try drowning them in alcohol
  11. Don't see the point of the argument, Bruce is just skirting around the fact that he is an unrepentant SJW that will support them in all endeavors. That or he gets a kick from playing devil's advocate for us
  12. I hate this game combat system, I really wish that developers would listen to Obsidian only because they are the ones that said that the core mechanic of your game must work perfectly and put Mario jumping as an example. Combat is boring and broken, dodging works as badly as in every game that has tried to implement a dodging system with an auto-tracking system; which is to say **** all poorly. Moreover exploration is hindered by the leveled enemies that force you to put off exploring a certain area (quite bold for CD project to believe I would be interested in coming back to an area wasting valuable time of my life just to find a chest with some junk in it) Plus, I wish I had the ability to cross over mountains just to take the most direct route to my goal without being hindered by the fact that both my horse and my character are incapable of doing so. Quite frankly, I wish the Witcher 3 wasn't an open world game despite the fact that it may be the best open world game. I'm just bored of going from point A to B without nothing to show for it. Leveling is useless, the combat is boring and there are only so many time I can see the same ****ing tree before I want to kill my horse for being stuck in it and that I want to move on. I would prefer a shorter more streamlined game instead of one filled with markers and needless detours, the worst part is that you cant prioritize content since mere monster contract might lead to a meaningful sidequest.
  13. One thing that bothers me, there seems to be a lot more body meshes for male than there are for women. Is it too much to ask for some diversity, or at leas a different cup size?
  14. The thing is that they knew enough of Rocky to make a quip about how it would be better to communicate to them in terms of more obscure directors which are lauded for their talent. So they clearly knew that Rocky as part of pop culture and they used the contrast to communicate a bit about themselves. Namely that they are pretentious twats that consume not for joy but because they want to feel superior to others. I don't think that they meant to come off that way but nature will out. BTW, if you need a good contrast of what an actual cinephile behaves like you only need to look to our own Amentep who manages to be passionate about film without being smug about it. Kudos.
  15. Free market rules...or maybe they're incompetent.
  16. I'm pretty sure that Van Gogh would had burnt a lot of bridges if he had Twitter, plus the whole Da Vinci Michelangelo beef would had some historical record.
  17. One thing that bothered me about Kingsman was that they left a lot of themes unresolved, I guess they wanted to break out of convention but it has a dramatic change of tone towards the final part of the movie. They spent all that time establishing the main character as kindhearted fellow who protects animals and by end he is just blowing everyone apart. I guess he was autistic and not kindhearted. Plus there is the whole nature of the main's villain plot which leads to believe that the protagonist's kind nature will have some role to play in the future, but nope.
  18. I quite frankly don't care much for episodic content, I have just one question: is it the same payment model of paying for a full game that you get in small portions or do you pay a small price for each episode? I ask because committing to a full game that hasn't been released sounds a bit off putting, since it can't be completely reviewed until the end. I may leave any series at any point and only have paid for that episode but that's different from committing to buying a whole series beforehand and finding you don't like it.
  19. That does me happy but its also just confirms my view that " that Romance sells and should be an intrinsic part of all RPG where you interact with your party ( this wouldn't apply to an action RPG for example ) " Romance really can enhance the RPG journey, I just wish most of you guys accepted and supported this notion Sadly it mostly is cringe worthy and people who support it come off as dense saps or middle aged housewives.
  20. You may be right but without real purpose and meaningful strategy they will just be a vociferous and annoying movement that wont implement real change You can't stop PC guys, its best just to work within the system Yes you can, just like Communism eventually bent and traded ideology for the more practical aspects of capitalism and how Capitalism has become more socialized so too will the PC eventually be sanitized. The political correctness crowd want to have a monopoly on what correct means, eventually they will meet with the same thing that caused other systems to change: the public. You guys and your hyperbole....PC is not an ideology, no need to compare it to proper global beliefs like Communism It behaves like one and seems to take a lot cues from Marxism supplanting class with race; after all the people making this PC stuff up don't want people realizing that they privileged white kids. If we're talking about Marxism as in what Marx wrote, that isn't really the case. If it did, PC would be advocating an overthrow of the oppressors followed by dictatorship of the previously exploited which would lead to a raceless society. PC is more akin to Puritanical standards of social interaction, in that it's less about making radical changes to a system and more about presentation of ideas and standards of social interaction. That's not a bad definition but can you also tone down the hyperbole ... " Puritanical standards of social interaction " you guys are real drama queens Its actually very easy to be PC ...just apply yourself You're obviously blind to your bias or have a misguided judgement of what makes the core of political correctness, I'll clarify: Political Correctness is not politeness. I can politely voice dissent and have differing views without being branded transphobic, or misogynistic. The reason I compare to Communism is because PC reminds me of another term they've used back in Cuba "Ideological Diversionism ". What it meant was that anything that wasn't aligned the ideals of the party was against the law. Similarly the PC crowd have a desire to do the same, hence their push towards exclusivity over a more inclusive industry via attacking the current status quo rather than creating their own niche. Something that money wise, they should be capable of doing since they have managed in the past to fund projects which so happen are not games but people or series attacking games.

  23. Whatever you believe to be the lesser of two evils is still evil and when they start escalating their actions soon it won't be worth it. Please don't try to frame my words in support of your beliefs whatever they may be, when I make broad sweeping statements they are meant for all.
