  1. Stopped reading here because I had to DA:O is a great game and all, but in my opinion: Isometric is the best look for RPGs. Period.
  2. You do realize that last part about manual install was sarcasm, right?
  3. Never had any issues with GOG. In fact I got support quite quickly when I needed o.o The breakdown for me was simpler: Steam Pros: Convenient, especially their auto patching. Steam Cons: DRM, and what seems to me like an incredibly stupid application, which annoys me like most modern apps that are becoming more and more stupid. GOG Pros: No DRM, very very clean, simple, not intrusive. GOG Cons: You need to wait an extra day for a patch? and then omd manually install it Easy GOG, not turning back, sad I got Skyrim stuck on my Steam. Would have never bought that boxed Skyrim if I noticed.
  4. Really doesn't matter, both options are fine. Voted for #2 because why waste shipping. With Wasteland 2 I played the digital version and didn't touch the physical Makes me curios though, how would patching work then for a physical version beyond 1.0 hmm?
  5. That Fallout room though... Do different backing tiers get different digital copy types (looking at GOG)?
  6. When talking about a successor to an IE game I'm thinking: scope, story, character progression, classic roleplay, party based (unlike NWN or DA), etc'. Can't say combat out of all things is the first thing that comes to my mind -.-
  7. DA:O was a fine game and RPG. Loved it. Played it through 3 times. DA2 was the worst RPG I ever played in my life, and I played lots of ****y ones, and probably is the last game I touch from the bones of a dead company. Regardless, I think people in these forums in general should lay down from their IE obsession. In many topics I think it makes you completely blind. IE is done dead. You want to play a new IE game? You got the EE of the old ones, or you can build your own new IE game. I will probably buy it. Good luck. PoE does not use the IE and will not be a IE copy *sighs* I also remind you that the E in IE stands for a Engine. (General rant for months spent on these forums)
  8. Hehe, this is why usually devs don't give dates or keep you informed on such stuff Though I really like and appreciate the communication from OE. You just have to expect such delays and not worry about it.
  9. Source: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/69317-press-release-pillars-of-eternity-now-available-for-pre-order-worldwide/?do=findComment&comment=1534363 I would have actually missed it otherwise, so thanks
  10. Digital media sure catches on fast, but it's nice to have a boxed copy on the shelf of game you really like Regardless, you can always try to contact them via https://eternity.obsidian.net/account (support tab) and see if you can change the pledge and cancel the box.
  11. Are we completely ignoring that some stats are tied to conversations/dialogues and maybe quests?
  12. Current seems fine for now, though I wouldn't mind option 2 with some revisions (placement mostly).
  13. Well, never knew about it, but then again I didn't play much with the new build yet. It seems pretty cool. Just note, that R is for resting on default... Small issue: if you already gave an ability a hotkey, say Q, you can't change it to another one, without pressing Q again to disable it. It should be able to bounce right into a new key in my opinion.
  14. It's certainly out of place. I thought that backer designed characters would be part of the game in a more immersive way.
  15. Very nice break down. I figured mechanics and stealth would have the most issues, but it seems like you did well with mechanics. Could be there should just be some more talents, for example, for stealth.
  16. Does the engagement mechanic tries to be one step forward from the classic attack of opportunity mechanic?
  17. What's so bad about games having rules and restrictions? If every class can be anything, what's the point of classes in the first place. TES is so different, and most of its games had a pretty stupid character design without mods. I wonder if the grip is because skills were separated before. It makes sense to me that they are tied like this. Would you like it more if skills were prerequest for talents?
  18. This. Even at least in game. I have no idea what it does other than making me look super awesome :D About portrait, still really need more Orlan ones Does anyone have any to import? It's a slight issue to find when it's a new race
  19. I like the system so far, though didn't play much yet. So far, I didn't feel like it forced my picks or direction. It's pretty straight for your generic characters (playing as a druid with lore and survival now). I do understand the arguments against it, but I still find it much better than just randomly assigning points to 5 skills each level up. It does seem like it would be most hard on Mechanics.
  20. I don't even know... Also, not sure about door pick locking info from the tanner appearing there... both that and the status effect stayed after resting.
  21. I know, this is my main hate with this build as well. It makes it so much harder to choose your abilities and your skill points. You end up having to sacrifice something. I'm the only one who's having an easy time with it?
