There is, but if you haven't played Pillars already, you can't know what it is that you're choosing. Who's this? What's that? Why did I had to do this? etc It's just choices no backstory of what's happening. Even I that have played Pillars and tried the history maker had to open the wiki to remind myself of some people and places. Imagine one that has no idea of Pillars whatsoever. Anyway, the feature is cool, of course, and helps a lot, but even if you make all those choices, if you haven't played Pillars so to experience each one and know who all these people are adn what their actions did, you'll encounter the outcomes in Deadfire but won't mean anything to you. That's why I suggest and recomend a full Pillars playthrough before Deadfire. I'm sure, though, that Deadfire is good enough to grip you by its own, for what it is. Good point, I was thinking that when I was doing it. It was a good thing I understood everything it asked me a new player would have no chance. But I suppose that's why there's like 6 or 7 premade backgrounds.

I used the history creator thing, seems alright. There's quite a lot of stuff to choose from.

As it stands, is the gameplay you've witnessed better than POE1? -

Or those for whom having companions to take along with you on your adventures is a huge part of their enjoyment of the game and now they have one less of those companions to take along. Enough with the straw man of people being unhappy over things being different. Well is 7 party members better than 6? Where does it end? -

Like the others have said, at first there was outrage just because WE DON'T LIKE THINGS THAT'RE DIFFERENT! Then when it was explained and tested for ourselves we realised oh yeah it actually makes sense and is a better design decision. Except for the few who are still outraged because WE DON'T LIKE THINGS THAT'RE DIFFERENT! -
Ach dammit! Why that second part? I already typed half of my reply in my head! :hairpull: Lol, he is right, no gamer (well normal ones) plays only one genre. That said, everyone does have a favorite genre. And if your favorite genre is traditional party based single player RPG's you really don't have much happening in the month of May outside Deadfire. Well there is Hyper Dimension Neptunia, but do I really need to explain how Deadfire and it are aimed at two wildly different groups of people? This is not true. I only play RPGs. Literally, no other genre interests me. I'm playing Battletech right now... which is basically an RPGlite with mechs instead of swords and magic. I guess we're going off topic now, but the OP has been answered... How is Battletech? I've seen some real iffy reviews.

I hope it's pretty good, but come on it's a piece of entertainment at the end of the day. People make out as if it's some life changing event when a certain game or movie comes out. Don't take these things so seriously folks!

I have to say I watched that update and the talking sword bit really irritated me. Some annoying american accent... bloody hell!
