Well, I followed the stream on ustream. All of the fun, none of the stupid remarks. So I don't know exactly how depriven it turned on the other place(s? Where was it hosted all) So yeah, I don't really see the stigma with "green shirt girl" and it would be a fun easter egg to have. Also agree with Adam's door . I am sure there are ways to add decisions easter eggs or IE reference easter eggs in the game. How about an adventurer who just killed a bunch of goblins (and his only goal in life is killing goblins) and complains not getting stronger for it even if he ignores all quests and NPC's and bosses and just hunts goblins everywhere (Objective-XP vs Kill-XP). "In my old days, this would have made me LEGENDARY!"

Potions Suck and Here's Why
Hassat Hunter replied to anubite's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I rather have more options than less how to end my combat favorably. So, yes to potions. Otherwise there is *just* magic to prepare for hard fights. And that's not a good thing... -
Set Items and Questing
Hassat Hunter replied to Shantarna's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yeah, this isn't an ARPG, so having to murder 5000 people to complete your set would be out of question. Sets will probably be in. If they add rewards for wearing multiple instead of one though remains to be seen. And they indeed would be static rewards handplaced in the world by OE. -
Enhanced Pets
Hassat Hunter replied to CrazyPea's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I am pretty sure it said exclusive pet, not that the a pet at all was kickstater-only. -
I was kinda expecting my PE dungeon to have PE gameplay... not be a diablo clone. How fun is 15 levels of BG/PS:T style fighting and *nothing* else. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be dissapointed. Then again, giving money for this game and expecting a hack&slash, you could have expected that...

NPCs, pets, stronghold random NPC... all good to me. Catlike race the best, but that's probably for the expansion...

They made an invention for this... "elevator"... google it. You'll be shocked of it's widespread. But I suppose the OP doesn't want that, and use the old system of parachute jump of a structure. Not that I recall that ever being a system. Now imagine it lasting 7(!!!) times as long. Would you still had fun? Also considering it's a single romp, barely any enemy variation since you obviously can't level too much (not that that's too different from DA "everyone's darkspawn", but just imagine it *could* be even less varied). Yeah, sounds like a blast... [/sarcasm] Anyway, I agree with OE that varied level requirements and thus periodical withdrawal suit the game from which the dungeon is (so not the exterior beyond just the dungeon which is the game) the best, so can't really disagree with their statement and observation, matching my own.

That's kind of a stupid reason to want objective-based XP for, I agree. Which is why it kinda not is the entire point for having objective based XP. Did you miss the whole "allow all playstyles", "easier to balance for developers", "easier to balance sections if same enemies in different sections" etc. etc.? Oh my, you SERIOUSLY think that's our only argument. Damn... Alternatively, objective-based XP allows you to CUT the entire combatdrag. Now you should tell me how that's a bad thing. Please. I do agree about the end of Vampires though. It clearly showed they had a lack of time there, as Obsidian did with KOTOR2. And even with XP Malachor was a freakin' pain... Yeah, getting rid of slog doesn't sound so bad to me. And here I was thinking adding up more of the word or going to the next section was. "You defeated this party, have access to Baldur's Gate. GODDAMMIT. Baldur's Gate? Heaven of fun and quests and people to meet? WHY? Why not my precious combat XP. Why fun. I hate you, game." Next you tell me the assassin before Beregost I did not defeat to enter the tavern and get on with the story but for XP and phat loot.

Nope, I just say Objective-based XP is better for a story-oriented RPG instead of an action-RPG. And hey, look what PE is! Yes, they do. And I find this a very good example of "upgrade them"... if I say so myself. It bodes well that they try to make a good game and not a grindgame just by this system itself! There is indeed a level cap, yes. I don't see the point in limiting it and then imply a system which doesn't allow you to gain max level. I am going to assume you need around 50%-75% of content done to max out, hardly all thus. How does that not give a good system where it's pretty freely to get XP for you to progress? Be afraid, there's a maximum level. You can't go to level 300. I am pretty sure they talked about around 12 or so? I can ask the same for a combat XP system. Why would you take a weak char to combat if (s)he just gets killed. Wouldn't you prefer to take some non-combat quests using your (speech) skills and personal brain/wits to gain XP and level him/her up without fear of being wiped as well? See also; taking 22 pages and people still don't know what "quest based" or "objective based" really means... Yup, really easy. Except the code would be; if( completedGuardQuest && !guard.isKilled ) guard.xp = 0; or you set the XP to 0 after the kill (kinda pointless) Oh, and if it's in a script that keeps loaded, it would create an infinite loop (resource heavy, potential crashes, bad!). If the guard is in another area and in a 'load area' script still need to make it a one-shot to save resources. Yeah, so easy... imagine doing that for all NPC's. I mean, that PC's have large amounts of RAM doesn't mean it should be wasted on having a bunch of "if" conditions checked all the damn time.

Cheatcodes for Project Eternity
Hassat Hunter replied to Eraydon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Of course there will be cheats... what, you don't want QA or something? -
The inventory
Hassat Hunter replied to Worhaim's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
IE for me too. Don't think adding "sizes" like most action RPG's (diablo) is adding anything, and agree with everyone smaller things like rings should probably stack. notes have a seperate section in the journal where they end after reading, and keys got a keychain (so might still take one slot of one char, but hold all), etc. With just these minor changes there is no need to change it radically to another system, especially one as horrible as a list... -
Worst case; we still have PE . Of these, I suggest Syberia.

Enhanced Pets
Hassat Hunter replied to CrazyPea's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I restate my previous choice (as it has no changed); I would dislike if the pet was based on class. I much rather have all available pet skins available. So I might not be stuck with a sucky looking pet for my favorite class, and my most hated class getting the pet I want. Now that pets are a blank slate, you can use training, items, rewards etc. to upgrade it to fit your character(s)/party (or just act as glorified mule)... -
TSLRCM 1.8 RELEASED!
Hassat Hunter replied to Hassat Hunter's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Very welcome (also the many OE devs screaming we were awesome in the PE end party feed, and of course MCA on reddedit)! -

messing up with KS pledge
Hassat Hunter replied to vahadar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
New KS with instructions; Oh no, I don’t think I added shipping! How do I add international shipping? There’s two ways to handle international shipping. You can: 1) Go to http://eternity.obsidian.net: Along the right side, choose the Donate button under the “Donate Your Own Amount” section. It’s at the bottom of the Tiers just before Addons. On PayPal in the Donation Amount field, enter the desired amount and click Update Total. Log in to PayPal using your email and password. On the “please review your donation” screen, click the Add special instructions for Obsidian link. Describe what your donation is for (international shipping, top up, etc.) Change any other relevant details and then click the Donate USD Now button. 2) Hang tight for now. Once we get all of the information from PayPal and Kickstarter and then get it organized, we’ll be reviewing each and every order to make sure we know how you want your funds allocated. We’ll handle that directly with you via e-mail (please make sure the e-mail you used on Kickstarter or PayPal is accessible to you! If you have any concerns about that, e-mail us at support@obsidian.net) I would actually like to upgrade to another tier – can/how do I do that? For a very limited time, you can use the process described above in “How do I add international shipping” and specify to us what you would like to do. You can do this even if you first contributed to Kickstarter. Just include the difference. (Disclaimer: This does not apply to tiers that were sold out.) -
I do fear that 14/15 becomes a bit too much, and may turn out to 1) Drag on TOO long 2) Take away too much of the rest of the game 3) Take up too much resources for the 2 big cities, outdoor areas and everything else planned I definitely don't want it to be a single ride to the end, breaking it up as discussed and having a part be after-endboss sounds great to me. Execept those aren't connected. You don't need to do 1,2,3,4,5. You may do 5,2,1,3,4. And vary it up next game. Dungeon? Not so much. Outdoors can also be part of the mainquest. Or other subquests. Considering the dungeon is "optional" it can only have it's internal story. Which may drag on too long (the outdoor can have all their own, making 15 stories for 1 dungeon is too much). Yes, it can have other sidequests, but the main dungeon story would still be the most omni-potent sidequest. So, No, 15+ outdoor areas and 15+ dungeon are very VERY different. And I hope you now see so why.
