Transmogrification
asnjas replied to Silvaren's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But why even go to the trouble of transmog. Just have players open a chest or loot a dragon and find stats or some permant buff. That way you can wear whatever clothing and armor you want. You just simply remove the buff and put in a new one. Chars can have 5 buff slots they can use for 5 buffs. -
DLC Worth?
asnjas replied to Ælfwine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Warrant extra frustration? Like thr other person said, just stop playing the game if its frustrating. People bashed the narrator, difficulty and exp pacing to death so now they struggle to find new topics. Something is frustrating me so should i buy its dlc; does this even need to be asked? -
No i am good. Its pretty clear when buffs debuffs drop off. Its clear what abilities do. Its all right there in the ui. The tooltips for abilities are good enough. Some abilities are not as described but good enough to understand what it does. There are times when ive come upon a forum post that better described an ability but obvidion can not write an essay for a tooltip. Like others have mentioned, the game goes a long way to provide information links and an ingame journal with mechanics. I remember old games i was stuck on whther a higher or lower number meant a char had better defence. The only problem with poe2 is how detailed can it get. If there is confusion id say it lies with the player.

Eh i disagree on the potd difficulty issue. Look. Its supposed to be hard and challenge everything you got. Youre supposed to find every little advantage where you can get it. You might as well say yea i want potd to be hard but i still want to play however i want when i want. I want to play at the highest level in the nba but all levels of heights, speeds, endurance, strength etc ought to be possible. Potd is an achievment and a difficulty. Youre suppos3d to figure it out and manage to beat it amirite? The real question is how many classes are really so weak they truly bring down a 5 man team so much that you cannot in anyway beat potd. Theres a difference between gimped and lower in a lower ranking. Also op is much less a concern than up. If rogues are literally invicable and one shot then ok. Thats imbalanced to an extreme but it doesnt prevent you from using you barbarian or druid to accomplish the same goal. How many chars are so bad they literally unplayable? For story through normal i can say none. Potd is different and i covered above. I think people just exaggerate the balance issues so much they force devs to spend man hrs finely tuning classes instead of adding more impactful improvements. So long as the game is beatable hard through story with any class then balance is fine. Can we pls get over this sht and get devs to add boat improvements, new armor skins, new dialouge options, new features?

Lol, what do you mean you could just buy the hint guide. Hint guides always being aroundn is like saying encyclodieas were always around so people must have always searched for stuff when they had questions. Umm no. Google makes it drop dead easy to look up anything. This ease and accessibility play a huge part in people searching for sht today. It is drop dead easy to solve puzzles so why plan so much time around them? Devs spend way more hours to implement and research ultra difficult puzzles when players bypass in a 10 sec google search. Thats why devs go to other areas for difficulty. Puzzles do not add difficulty to games like how you think. Numbers do. Collect 5000 whale dongers and dodge 200 consecutive lightning strikes add difficulty that cannot be solved in 10 seconds online. Umm yes you do change it for the sake of the "idiots." These idiots are buying the games. These idiots represent a larger portion of the ppl buying your game. You think if ultra "DIFFICULT" puzzles were the thing then games would hop on that sht. Plus, id really love to know how many times youve sat at a game when you were truly stuck instead of googling. I know its pointless to ask since no one gonna tell the truth. Do you really enjoy Uld puzzles as much as you think? Who knows how many " idiots" we truly have here. You got so many man hours to put out a game you wanna spent time on ULD puzzles or combat graphics and skill trees? If i gave you xxx amount of dollars to make a game with a profit and your paycheck riding on it then we will see how many puzzles you add cause you dont care about the idiots who ruin it.

Why do people over think? Set the difficulty to easy or story. Then you can play whatever you want and have no problems. You can learn the game while you advance though it. Why you need numerous specific tips and tricks when you can simply lower the difficulty setting in one simple click. Why make this more difficult than it needs to be.

Nobody here does this i know. Its cool. But yeah. People have been googling puzzle spoilers since ff7 gold chocobo breeding. Dont tell me devs need to add riddles, puzzles and clever stuff when players save scum or google for the best possible solution. As a gamer i can still blame day one micro transactions or meaningless achievements. However i can not blame devs for removing puzzles, secrets and overall cleverness in exchange for 200 consecutive lightning dodges or collect 5000 whale dongers. We responsible for that one. Again i know nobody does it. Yeah. Gotcha.

I mean no offense but i really feel sorry for these types of gamers. The nickel and dime min and max type of gamers. I dont mean anyone specifically, but i see many people clearly having less fun with the classes than i simply because they get so caught up in balance. Its like some problem invented by gamers and they trick themeves into believing it needs to be addressed. Everything do3snt need to be perfectly balanced. It will never be perf3ctly balanced. Balance is such an over rated concept in video games these days. I believe this pressure to please gamers in regards to balance has hurt games over all. Id much rather have many abilities, classes, passives etc that i can tinker and toy around with with a larger varience in strength. This is preferable to reduced abilities with smaller gap in power.

Keys like the stone are pretty common. Finding that stone is the equivolent to having a rogue disarm trap or mage use a spell to bypass. My only problem is maybe a slight lack of creativity but not in an item bypassing a trap. Assuming you mean magical items as in the blue items from poe1? So in poe1 you have white items, blue items and gold uniques? If i understand you right then i see no problem with a lack of blue magic items. Plain magic items are the same as white comnon items: their purpose is the same to act as filler for uniques. I see no problem cutting out additional filler item qualities down to one and focusing more on the uniquness of uniques and item diversity.

Been playing tower of time. Its a gg. Fun character development, fun equiptment customization, fun battles, good enough story and interesting atmosphere. Never played divine 2 but thought divine 1 was boring. Couldnt finish it after 2 seperate attempts. I did like the sandbox, multiple paths for quest completion though.

The fact they put in options means they are trying for all audiences. Casuals can play story mode hardcores can play potd. The more you play the better you get. You constantly improve. However, the difficulty does not constantly improve. You are one specific person. The devs must tune numbers for all players. Potd is too hard then people gonna complain. Enemies do too much damage, take too little damage, instant reflexes, etc etc. Its like devs supposed to know exactly how much to tune numbers so you ge tthe exact challenege you want. Plus are there not numbers out there showing how many people even finish potd? I remember it being very small. The horse is dead
