Foe-only AoEs hitting freindlies
Boeroer replied to nstgc's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
That shouldn't be the case - I never experienced that behaviour. -
You like some good hairsplitting I presume. I just responded to a post where someone said that they would like a ranged barb - and I agree. Nothing more. I think we should leave it to OBS how they want to see their barbarians. By the way: From PoE, ingame description of the class. Increased font weight by me. Pwnd! Maybe OBS doesn't want do get into animal totem territory. Maybe they do. But I guess since druids and rangers already are associated with animals the chances are not too high. But who knows?

Vent Pick with Paladin
Boeroer replied to Ymiraku's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Nope. It's a seperate instance of FoD that doesn't profit from your talents. So it's normal unbuffed FoD. Same as with Frenzy from the Sanguine Plate and Greater Frenzy by the way. I didn't test it excessively so I can't answer the last question. I think it will add an additional FoD lash on top of the other, but can't say for sure. I guess it would be better to use that weapon on a barbarian or monk for a higher proc chance thorugh AoE use or a rogue for higher lash damage (since lashes are calculated with the actual physical damage you did - including dmg mods like Sneak Attack/Deathblows). -
Sure, but other subclasses like paladin orders or priests' faith have special talents. Same with the Black Jacked Fighter: less damage, less ACC, but more weapon skills. It's not that far fetched that you could give a barb subclass a "madman tosses grenades" ability or something like that. As far as barbs are concerned I can't think of too may distinct subclasses.

Do you have Swift or even Lightning Strikes? Because Frenzy's speed bonus doesn't stack with Swift Strikes. Besides that, Frenzy is perfect for a monk. He doesn't want to have too high deflection anyway because he wants some wounds - and the speed bonus is nice, too. Frenzy boosts fortitude by 16 points, which is much more important than 10 deflection (except against Cleansing Flames from Thaos). If you have Iron Wheel your armor can be fairly light. For example durgan reinforced Gwisk Glas with 0 recovery penalty or the Robes of the Tidebringer. For the last fight Angio's Gameson with it's DAoM use might also be great.

I also think that a ranged barb variant with grenades would be fun (it could be a simple x/encounter ability similar to an AoE spell like Fireball, no need to introduce throwing weapons for that). Could scale with level or simply get some additional talents which alter/improve it. Other than that, I don't see how you can go into "rage mode" with ranged weapons. I mean a machine gun would fit, but luckily we don't have that. The thing that comes close is using all guns you have, run into the fray and go berzerk, fire away, dropping guns and pulling out fresh ones - until they are all empty. Kind of Heart of Fury, but with pistols or blunderbusses.

I often use Pull of Eora to bring together a lot of enemies and then cast all kinds of spells onto their heads (or under their feet) that do damage/CC repeatedly. Like Chillfog, Malignant Cloud, Wall spells and so on. Or I use implement + Blast on them. Putting a druid's fire stag in the middle of a crowd which suffers from Pull of Eora is also funny. The best part however is that there's no immunity. It works with every type of enemy. And often the actions they were trying to complete - like casting spells or rushing my backline - get completely cancelled once they have been dragged around.

Acuan Giamas'ses spell stealing works with carnage. It's fun. The best part is that Blood Thirst and Bloodlust also get triggered by kills via spells. They both stack with Frenzy. If you manage to steal Calling the World's Maw from an ogre Druid and start to cast it with no recovery the game breaks.
