  1. Returned them to the wheel so they can have a new life. For me that was the best solution, i also didn´t side with any god because i didn´t trust them, thus also avoiding any revenge. I got pretty much all the good endings, despite GM, just because i helped her when she asked me to remove that pain from her she is now sitting on a damn stone waiting forever for people to not come. That really filled me with rage lol
  2. Well, I've been reading that DA: I is Bioware's best selling title to date so I think it's safe to assume it sold well over DA2. The thing is, EA has been the poster child for cutting development time to produce subpar games of well known franchises to fit their quarterly statement schedule for their shareholders and yet at the same time, they are more than willing to spend millions of dollars on marketing so that an under-developed game might seem much more awesome than it really is in order to get as many sales as possible. I'm just hoping that EA is finally realizing that listening to their fanbase is actually a good thing monetarily (something one would think is common sense) because all of those millions invested into the marketing to scam their fanbases could actually be put to better use making a solid game that would sell itself. Source? Outselling DA2 shouldn´t be that hard, it was not well received anyway. (rightfully in my opinion) but i would be surprised if it outsells ME3. Personaly i´m curious if it outsold DA:O. Everything i have seen so far from the game, including some let´s play´s makes me not want to buy it. I know i would hate the combat way to much to really enjoy it. Completely agree in regards to DA2, I still haven't been able to bring myself play that game yet. From the moment Bioware first announced it, I knew it would suck because it had all the typical earmarks of EA's involvement which ultimately results in mediocrity, which is exactly what DA2 turned out to be, completely mediocre. What I should have said is that DA:I is Bioware's bestselling title at launch to date, including Mass Effect. (source: http://www.pcgamer.com/dragon-age-inquisition-had-most-successful-launch-in-bioware-history/). Edit: Oh, and I just want to add that I got a good chuckle out of Bioware's use of the word 'iconic' when introducing the Hawke character for the first time when given the option of using the awesomely iconic default that the whole world knows (or not) or custom Hawke. Iconic...really? Nice try, EAware but there's absolutely nothing iconic about Dragon Age 2. Just because you use a word does not make it so. I see. Considering the marketing and expectations i can see that it was the most successful launch. Still a bit surprised though considering ME3 was very anticipated. *shrug* Well, i played DA2 like..two times. At that point i still gave Bioware the benefit of a doubt, even though i was really pissed because of DA: A and a little "conversation" i had with with Gaider on the forum. I don´t think DA2 sucks. It´s not a bad game. The personal stories of the characters really shine mostly and there are some good moments, and some horrible ones (Anders...). The whole overall plot, the time jumps without any real consequence and the action style combad without lack of strategy broke the game for me. I would say it´s a mediocre game but not bad. I think i enjoyed it a bit more when i decided to look at it as a different game that just happens to be placed in the Dragon Age world. As a sequel to Origins it sucks. They should have called it DA: The Hawke chronicles and made clear it has nothing to do with the first game.
  3. Or you can just petrify her for 20 seconds and then destroy her. I read somewhere they have stealth-nerfed it. No idea, but it was always resisted when i beat her yesterday, including every other prone/sleep spell. Interestingly enough Eders knockdown worked every time. Just send your tank in with the best defense gear, stay at max range with everythone else and unload at her/heal your tank. Was very uninteresting in the end.
  4. The dragon always resisted petrifying/slumber spells from me. I just buffed up Eder and send him in alone, stayed at max possible range with everyone else to avoid the ugly AoE and unloaded everything i had. It was quickly over. I didn´t like the fight much and found it pretty uninteresting from a mechanics standpoint. I would have preferred more diverse abilities instead of just one hard hitting attack that can easily oneshot a lot of chars.
  5. This video is 7 years old..And what do you mean by russian rolling the dice? You mean NATO and US encircling them after promising 20+ years they wont do it? Yet still followed their imperialsitc politic? Lets also note that Russias air planes always abit to internatial law. We can´t exactly say the same about the US however let´s not forget this recent accident which brings it to a point: http://fortruss.blogspot.co.at/2015/04/russian-senator-about-air-force.html As they said it, Russia is a baltic state, the US is NOT one.
  6. I wouldn´t say there is a best one, pistoles are good but a big hit by a blunderbus can do lots of damage, it´s really up to your playstyle and what you prefer. I choose to stay away from them and went for fast weapons, Hunter with a Hunting/War bow...low hits but lots of them and crits without end. It´s really up to your party and what you prefer.
  7. I´m sooo playing the worst evil person ever on my 2nd playthrough. I´m VERY curious what else will change considering now i´m a very selfless good person on my first playthrough. Edit: IF Obsidian really made a seemingless evil playthrough posssible and good they would be the first ones.
  8. Exactly this. Eder is not a rogue, Aloth is not a Cipher, whats the point having them in the party, their banter doesn´t make any sense at that point anymore because they are something else? I don´t get it. Don´t get me wrong, mod the hell out of the game i don´t care, THAT is one the reasons CRPG´s stay relevant. But asking the dev for it, like the OP did is beyond my reasoning. For an official game option I'd be fine with having the NPC class and stats fixed but allow you to pick the talents and skills on level up after level one. Basically this would get you the same effect as rushing through the game in order to collect the NPCs before they waste a talent without ruining the game by rushing through. You get to pick their talents after they are in your party, why not before as well? If talent picking for the NPC's are so integral to the story then the game should pick all of their talents and skills, both before and after you meet them. I do agree with that, that could be made and wouldn´t break immersion in any way considering they would adept to your cause. I see your point and i agree with it. I´m just against a class change which would make the story companions blank. Totaly against it for story reasons. The option to basically reskill your story pc´s wouldn´t hurt. But i would limit it to one time. Why? Because the theme of the game are the discions you take. However, after i´m almost done with the game i don´t even see a reason for this. Naturaly i got GM last, and then you still lvl up which makes it possible to chose a new spell on any lvl anyway, Wizard? through the books, and picking second stats like athletics so they don´t get tired as easily like Hiravias is a matter of one lvl up. Considering that when you interact with npcs only your stats count, i can see no reason for this except to build a decent "rouge" to disarm and find traps. So..whats the point except of min/max which people will do anyway (inculding myself at one point). Considering how weak the second stats are, and main stats are easily balanced thru items, i don´t see one reasonable point to pick apart the existing lore-companions. Again, if you want to min/max make your own..thats the ****ing point of the system. Personaly i hope they stay with the chars, not to piss of some people, but to make a statement, "These are our chars, they stay". end of story. This whole "disscusion" is even more stupid when we take into account that you can make your own. Sometimes i think the term RPG means nothing anymore, sorry if i sound bitter, but thats what it seems. Not to mention that eventually there will be something like shadowkeeper, than all can cheat their way to success and change the existing chars how they want. If the engine allowes, we will see.
  9. Exactly this. Eder is not a rogue, Aloth is not a Cipher, whats the point having them in the party, their banter doesn´t make any sense at that point anymore because they are something else? 10. Despite the fact that everyone in there is a though fight. Why should they? They have probably done very good for the people. And what is heavy guarding..look at the duc palace..there ar not much guards there. The city at this point is in peace, there is no need for guards when people are allready afraid of animacy, and Ciphers (which they have enough off) Two more guard at the front door wouldn´t change a thing. Information is power, just like in real life and that is their unique power, and they didn´t need to fear anyone except the LK. Edit: which lady webb knew she couldn´t do anything against it.
  11. That is something i agree with most people, the stronghold wasn´t well done. It´s ****ing pretty i give you that. But even sleeping in a whore-house gives me more bonus than my own keep does, nor does it do anything else. Also....i´m sick of constantly rebuilding my walls because a bunch of bandits attacked me and i chose auto resolve..because i´m on the other end of this world fighting with gods...are you telling me that this bandits now have rambocks and trebuchets? I also feel that there should be more to the stronghold, and i don´t think the EP counts, you took over a fortress, show it! Have me employ troops...it needs to have consequenses. :> Seriously you are restoring a complete fortress and no one in THIS world cares? Not believeable. Ugh i feel dirty when i criticse a game i love
  12. Minsc was and is funny, it's just a different kind of humor. Personally, I find Eder's blunt, world-weary cynicism and sarcastic observations more entertaining, but that's just me. You AND me. Minsc had simple standarts for what was right and wrong, he was a big child. Never found him funny, but still loved his char.
  13. I fail to see the reasoning here. This characters are in this world, they have their personality, story, history and based upon that their strength and weaknesses. If you want to min/max you could make up your own party. Thats why this option is there and was backed. Now asking for story characters to be modified as you like breaks any form of immersion. You are asking to change existing characters in this world to be changed by your means. I´m pretty sure that won´t happen, and i´m glad it won´t. There is a reason why this chars are what they are, and behind every npcs stands an artists who made them, and there is no need to change them to cater to your playstyle. There are 8 companions, if you don´t like them. Make your own. And make your own story up for each one...thats the whole point of an RPG isn´t it?
  14. True! But...fast-clicking on Boo for an abnormal time an laughing your ass off will NEVER get old
  15. Seventh Son, i waited long for this movie but it was in dev. hell for a long time. It was rather enjoyable i have to say, pretty good fantasy movie. But god damn that accent forced upon Jeff Bridges in this movie almost ruins it. The acting overall is good, effects are good and the story has potential but never really picks it up. To make it short, its a good fantasy popcorn movie
  16. I see that I chose(!) to stick to it damn it :D SJW talk is a waste of time, allready made my point about that
  17. Go to your keep, get them into your party, and force attack them...aka murder them Their bodies will be gone next loading screen. Employment in this world sucks :D But there should really be a "fire" button to release self made characters, wouldn´t be surprised if that comes up in the next patch notes.
  18. Censored? Hm, no. I don´t see why censoring ANYTHING should even be brought up. Censoring is the response of weak people that can´t argue with your point and/or want to imposse their view on yours. Thats all that there is to it really. However, this is Obsidians forum, privat ground not public mind you, if they have enough of this nonsense they have every right to close and delete this threads. Despite the original discussion, which i took part in, i also see no reason to "roll it up´" again. We would in this case just give a bunch people with no basis or argument more spotlight they didn´t deserve in the first place. Would you give a crying, stupid kid what it want? No you wouldn´t. And yes thats what this people are. They proof it every time, just follow them for a week and you see what i mean. I think Obsidian made a decent choice, now we have a limmerick that makes fun of them, and half of them don´t even get it because they lack the intelligence to grab realitly. Would i have made a different choice? Yes. But that doesn´t matter sh*t It was Obsidians call and i think they did the best, though i would have told them a strict no and made an example, especially with that community behind me. It´s just a shame when someone caters to a little radicale group that has no saying, no reason, no power, nothing. So let´s not do it. Ignore them and be reasonable, if they don´t have a base to struck you, they can´t struck you. Hell, i´m sounding like Sun Tzu. (you should read his work though ) Just forget them, they are not important, they have no audience, no real influence, they matter not. But as Sun Tzu said (lol) keep an eye on your "enemy"
  19. Ouch. That bad? I think the Divinity games have a very quirky, unfettered style - when the devs at Larian think something could be fun, they just do it, and the same goes for the composer of all the music in those games, I feel. While they rarely seem to bother with overall consistency or setting a certain 'mood' and sticking with it, somehow all the elements always seem to come together to make an entertaining, if unusual game, and unusual music as well. But I do realize this approach may not be everyone's cup of tea. Yeah it was that bad. I hated the music in that game, mainly due to the constant looping. It was like Chinese water torture for my ears. O.O They music in D:OS is amazing you scrub No i love it really, the looping is a problem and the re-use of the theme of older games, but thats kinda the "Divinity Sound". That stupid music didn´t leave my head for months, i was constantly hearing it in my head lol Anyway. PoE has a great soundtrack, i really love it, especially the subtle notes like in the sanatarium that send chills down my spine. Immersion achived
  20. The world is just more miserable and more grim, as compared to the BG example you brought up. Thats not a problem as far as i´m concerned, but a bit more humor wouldn´t hurt. Most humor is very subtle and dark, which i do like because it fits mine and there have been several cases that made me laugh, however usually thanks to party banter as you said yourself. When i think about it...hm. i think it has to do with the false understanding of "mature" content and what makes a game "adult". So there is a lot of forced horrible decisions and confrontations where there is no good choice (just like in real life), however very well written really!!! But that doesn´t mean you can´t have light hearted humor in the game. Can´t say i´m complainig though, i think they did a great job.
  21. I know, and i agree about The Witcher 2. But this just looks like the RPG to end all RPGs. And that just can't be true. There's gotta be something wrong with it. Because if there isn't, then the only question is what the hell Bioware and Bethesda and others were doing all these years... I think the question is what they have been not doing. Considering that the people who made the Witcher series or the ones who made Metro, are far smaller, have less experience and way less money? I think that shows whats wrong I always support a smaller studios, the bigger one gets, the more of a cluster **** it gets and you can see that all the time, it´s not just games but generally speaking. You only end up with a dozen "producer" and "ceo-executives" etc who make the money. It´s not like the programer who works 50h a week gets a raise...anyway.... Bethesda made a beautiful game, engine wise, they are great world builders, but the first thing modders on PC did was to tune it up and blow everyone away with graphics. Obviously the graphics were kept low for consoles. No question there. The same will be with WItcher 3, i expect a shipped or a patched version with high res state of the art textures for PC which the consoles just can´t handle. Bioware...made a good job..i guess with DA:I? I don´t like it, but its not a bad game and it looks ok. Except again, the faces don´t. But to be honest, for me there is no Bioware anymore, the talent has left and what is there is under EA control, until the day they make not enough money and get closed down like EVERY other EA studio that doesn´t bring in enough money. They have not released a great game since DA:O as far as i´m concerned. And i was one of the biggest, and still am, fanboys (with reasons) for old Bioware
  22. Locks that are there for story reasons can´t be picked thats true, but i would assume that the devs thought it would be pretty obvious, which i think it is. Otherwise they could just slapped a "can´t be picked because of magic...reasons whaterver" text over it, and then people would criticise that. But.. that's pretty much what they've done. And I'm criticizing that. It's lazy quest design. I know I'm being unreasonable to a degree, but if you can't construct a quest to be in tune with the base mechanics of the game and what the game presents as a reasonable action, you shouldn't make the quest at all, and rather scrap it than to impose arbitrary restrictions. There are exceptions where the reason why you can't open something with a lockpick is integrated into the quest's story, but those are exceptions, not the rule, and it should be made pretty damn clear when it happens. Yes thats what they have done, just without the text, my point was, would it be better to just have a text there that says "this lock is sealed you can not pick it" i don´t know if that would break immerson, i mean, my character isn´t a high class thief or lockpicker I get your point, i do think that the max lvl for picking locks and even more important traps (endless path) is way too high. If you sacrifice everything into this you are just missing out options and possible different content due to checks in discussions, which i´m in favour as long as they are balanced, which doesn´t seem to be the case. I could easily live without traps/locks giving xp, they don´t give much anyway and you easily cap out before the end. I think they might just got their math a little bit off there for the sake of allowing everyone to play like the want. Keep in mind it "should" be also designed to make it possible to make a solo run, which in return means you WANT that extra xp from traps/doors to even out the disadvantage. However, thats pretty much how i remember most games like this, did it in the past too. You would always cap the xp lvl before you were done with the story IF you completed everything else. Personaly i don´t have a problem with it.
  23. Freed her, but i let him go, because the word of a guy who wanted to sacrifice HER and the baby to get his wishes is worth nothing in my book and my char was not some murderer. There should have been the option to put him into your jail. That would have made up the possibility of a very interesting political and moral questline in the game including your stronghold. Sadly that didn´t happen. *shrug* wasted chance
  24. My friend I'm sure everyone appreciates your insight but haven't you realized this thread isn't really about journalism ( well maybe it once use to be )...its the eternal battleground on these forums where we debate issues of SJ ...and we love it despite the heated exchanges I stick with the topic, feel free to do otherwise.
  25. Journalism should only be named that way when it provides both side of a story on a neutral manner laying out the facts and thus informing the people. You don´t find much of that in traditional media though. Of course, there is no such thing like real objectivity. There will always be a little bit of bias in one way or another because a human being wrote it, and no matter how objective you try to be there will always be an influence from your personality. Which can be a good thing. If we rule out biased coverage of media we can still find a lot of mostly objective reviews/first looks etc for games thanks to the internet/youtube. There is something for everyone which is a good thing.
