  1. I've had experience with programs randomly crashing before, but that was caused by bad ram. I've only ever encountered the problem once before though, so it's probably a rather rare occurance. http://www.memtest86.com/ or http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp If you feel like running it through its paces .
  2. The BOS sucked in Fallout 2 -- a small shanti/shack/hole in the ground does not make for an impressive organization.
  3. I did find it by chance. I have an odd habbit of highlighting the text on screen when I'm reading.
  4. A haystack?.. peh. Nothing but a dirty hippie convention. Now a straw bale, that's what I call home. Unfortunately I was separated from mine during a tornado. I remember waking up from the ordeal embedded in a tree.
  5. Since long ago there was hidden text on Obsidian's home page reading "Hi Sheryll". Screenshot of the highlighted text: I checked this morning and it's no longer there. I loved it. Imagining it was my name instead, it was as if Obsidian was reaching its arms out welcoming me into its warm comforting bosom. But alas, Obsidian's once open arms are closed, leaving me cold and dejected -- I'll cry tonight. Goodbye Sheryll
  6. http://www.nbos.com/order.htm <prices & list of places to order it from
  7. It's about time for pet rocks to make a comeback. Although they weren't in short supply, it's amazing to see what hype can do for a product.
  8. They're trying though http://www.voanews.com/burmese/archive/200...-07-05-voa3.cfm As for the nuclear test, speculation is starting to fly about how it may have been faked. Fox News is claiming that the White House has confirmed it was a real rest -- I'll hold off until more news comes in.
  9. http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/stor...6134909,00.html here's what the USGS picked up: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recent...s/10/130_40.php http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recent...akes/ustqab.php A bit larger than what the Korean seismic monitoring center claimed, but the times match up. I hope I don't have to go looking for waterchips anytime soon
  10. Yea, DnD sucks "
  11. Maybe the little people like the big money
  12. He can teleport
  13. Maybe Obsidian should add a captcha system...
  14. With forced labor, you're putting law abiding citizens out of work. "Sorry Johny, we're laying you off. See -- we got these convicts here who'll do your job for 3$ an hour." Here's a small opinion article on it: http://www.pww.org/article/view/2415/1/122/
  15. The XBox 360s processor is a triple core. If the game is designed specifically for multiple cores, running it on a single core processor would make a big impact on the performance.
  16. If you're using a LCD, then possibly. at least according to this article: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1744453,00.asp If you do decide to get a DVI cord... don't fall for the BS and buy an expensive one. The cheap ones will net you the same results.
  17. Are there major tariffs on the consoles that cause them to be so expensive? It seems odd that they'd be so much more than they are in the US/Europe/Japan.
  18. Eck, the guys arm looks like it's made of wood. No way would I be paying 550$ for a Wii... but if that's how much the Wii costs in Turkey -- what's the price of the Xbox 360 and PS3?
  19. Using print screen gave me some black jarbled mess. I started pressing random keys (I think it was one of the F# keys) and some screenshots popped up in the main Fallout directory.
  20. The attact animations were still played at the normal speed, but none were really slow. The movement speed was what took up the majority of the time (if you didn't have the speed setting up). I just died to some radscorpions
  21. Did you guys actually play the game? See the arrows.. see the combat speed option. I can't believe I reinstalled the game for that <_<. I'm not making an argument that FO combat was good -- just pointing out the fallacy of the "having to wait" argument. On the fastest setting, turns were near instantaneous.
  22. I wonder how long it will take for the stores in Japan to sell the PS3 at the lower price
  23. Something I've noticed on a lot of the lower end digital cameras is that they only allow the pictures to be saved as JPGs. It's not bad for regular photo use (normal sized photos), but I've found the JPG compression artifacts to be a pain when editing them. I don't really have any experience with cameras beyond that though -- just commenting that being able to save in a lossless format (bmp, etc..) might be a feature you'd want to look out for.
  24. As watchful as ever Darque :"> I browse with a lot of software designed to block the bad things.. I really should have done it in a VM though. I'm surprised that they made it look so good, but not quite perfect... it's like putting a lot of effort into something and then stopping near the end.
  25. This is the first scam/phish topic that I've posted -- I normally wouldn't post something like this because they often suck. But this one is different, it's pretty slick. Following is a description and some screen shots. As the norm, I get an email telling me I needed to update my PayPal account, well I don't have an account -- that tipped me off right there, but I decided to follow the link anyway. Here's a screenshot showing the fake website: Here's a screenshot of the real website for comparison: Note the strange URL on the fake website. I didn't link the page because I don't know if the site contains spyware/viruses.. be careful if you decide to look at it for yourself. All the links on the fake page redirect to the official Paypal pages except the "Log In" button. The "Log In" takes you to a page asking you to fill out some information (credit cards, etc..) no matter what is typed in the email/password fields.
