Maneha fell during my battle against the bounty Disciples of the True Flame. I won the battle with only her as casualty. The battle ended, but Maneha didn't recover endurance (she still had plenty of health). My other characters could move around normally, and all combat-only abilities/items were disabled, as the battle was over. Still, Maneha stood dead on the ground and I could not resurrect her, leave the map nor save the game, because I was "still in combat". Couldn't really do anything there... it would have been game over in Trial of Iron I guess! I have the log and the quicksave right before the battle; as I said it was impossible to save during the issue. Uploaded them on mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2683c5ea4idxxsc/output_log%2Bquicksave.zip I hope you can sort it out! Cheers.

favourite Difficulty
SkySlam replied to Skladzien's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I see your point Tennisgolfboll, it totally makes sense to me. BUT! Last time that I've played Trial of Iron, I permanently lost 2 of my companions during act IV because I misclicked on a trap and my party stepped on it, instead of disarming it. That's a cheap way to lose 20+ hours of playing. Needless to say, my run ended few minutes later: with a party of only 4 people in the last dungeon I had no chance. Losing dozens of hours that way was extremely frustrating. Even tho I have now finished PotD with some reloads, I'm not trying Triple Crown any time soon! Another experience, while playing without ToI: during the Raedric keep's quest, one of my characters got locked out of a room due to a positioning bug, I suppose. There was absolutely no way to continue from there ("you must gather your party..."), infact I had to reload from the last save. That day I thought to myself "wow, this would have sucked in ToI mode!". What I would like to see added in Trial of Iron is a couple of "jolly" reloads. Just two or three. That way, I would still be extremely thrilled, but I'd be safe from cheap, unfair and gameruining missclicks and bugs. -
I add my output log as you requested, just in case! output_log.txt

Sorry for the late answer, I haven't read your message before. The issue is in the audio files of the game (Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\audio\vocalization\vo wav files\player) for me and everyone else experiencing this problem. The casting sounds of some male voices (mystic, noble, sinister) from number 58 to 62 are too low compared to the others and almost impossible to hear in game, during a battle. I will zip and attach three .ogg files. One is from the Male-Smooth voiceset: it has the correct volume. The other two are from Male-Mystic and Male-Noble, they are barely audible in game, because the sound is too low. I really really hope it will get fixed in 3.0! 3sounds.zip

I just won my first run in Path of the Damned! I'm so proud of myself (my life is terrible indeed ), it's the first time I win a game at the highest difficulty. And I had no moon godlikes in my party! Actually, I even favored some weak pieces of gear because they looked better on my characters! So yeah, if I made it, anyone can. Moon godlikes aren't needed to survive PotD. Sorry I just had to share this. Joy is in the little things!

My wish
SkySlam replied to Joculari's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Nooo! I think they hit the right spot in that department. Well, maybe my years of Dota have affected me a bit, but I even thought they coul be more flashy I think the spell animations are just fine as they are right now! -

The witch doctor costume is always cool looking, albeit deja vu. The other concepts feel a bit out of place, but I trust Obsidian's artists to keep a coherence in the game's visuals. -

Aaaaah... I don't want to read/see anything about the WM2, but I just can't resist a little peek... my Will defence is so pathetic. Those are gorgeous, even if all this white is starting to tire my eyes. I don't want to see a single snowflake in PoE2! -

Damn that's unfortunate. Good luck with support then, you really deserve that achievement for all your efforts! -

Hello there! As you might have already read on that Steam discussion, another guy had your problem. He said it's the cave in Northweald that is tied to that location, check it out! Northweald map: http://guides.gamepressure.com/pillarsofeternity/guide.asp?ID=30017 -
Probable (albeit hilarious) bug
SkySlam replied to Barbedbeat's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Which female voiceset were you using? I've noticed that some of them are missing specific lines, and I think they use some from other voicesets in those occasions. Surely the female-to-male jump seems a bit too far! -
Request for next PoE game...
SkySlam replied to Aron Times's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Dungeon-be-gone was my favorite mod in BG2, I still have it on my desktop just in case. I do agree that Act 1 was a bit too linear, considering that serial restarters like me will play through it - or part of it - dozens of times. What I would really love to see in PoE2 are different beginnings (should I say it? ORIGINS!) depending on your race/culture. They don't have to be too long, nor too many, but I think they would add greatly to game immersion and would save us from the first hour(s) of autism. -
Dungeons in PoE
SkySlam replied to Arumaxx89's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I agree that Raedric's Hold is the pinnacle of dungeoning in Pillars: interesting story with an unseen despot waiting for us at the end, many ways to enter/advance, secret passages, disguises, sub-plots... what's not to love? I didn't mind the small dungeons/caves in the vanilla game (I'm exploring the WM right now), but for sure another pair of Raedric's Holds instead of some levels of the Endless Paths would have been welcomed! I'm sure they've learnt a lot of lessons from their first PoE, and we are in for a magnificent sequel!- 3 replies

Update #104: Last Chance...
SkySlam replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I've just checked and Outlander's Frenzy was always like that. Pity it did not receive the per-encounter treatment; it might have made it a worthwhile talent (which it currently oh-so-isn't.) Is it too late to hope for a change? Maybe they'll hear our voices! I've also been thinking about that skill many times: nerf it a bit and make it per-encounter? Pretty please?- 30 replies

Custom Soundsets
SkySlam replied to TheDogProfessor's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Sure is! Well, I don't know how it was in IE, but it's really easy in PoE. You just have to overwrite the audio files of a specific voiceset (Female Feisty, Male Stoic etc.) with your own custom sounds. Create a backup directory before starting to mess with the files anyway. You can find more info on responses here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72252-modding-in-additional-vocal-sets-possible/page-3 You will need .ogg files, not mp3. You can convert them here: http://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-ogg You can also work on companions' voices: tired to hear the EH?HEY?EH! spam all day long? Make them say something interesting when you click on them by swapping their responses! Right now, I'm working on a Viconia soundset, and I've already made my chanter sing my favorite tunes every time we fight! -
No Roleplay? :-(
SkySlam replied to Dykeras's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Don't trust forum/websites for your builds, especially when you are playing for the first time! Not because they are wrong, but because the vast majority of those builds are optimized for the Path of the Damned difficulty. Since you've just bougth the game, I suspect you are not going to start there! I can grant you that you can play through Easy, Normal and even Hard difficulties without min-maxing or optimizing your build. There is no character that will be a detriment to your party, unless you build him useless on purpose, so play whatever you like! I'm not an ace player by any means, but I had no problem completing the game with my favorite roleplay characters in normal or hard. Also, you have a whole team of 5 people behind you, ready to fix your weaknesses! -
Favorite NPC moments
SkySlam replied to Mocker22's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I couldn't agree more! I hope that in PoE2 they'll improve this, because only two lines for the clicking action are not enough. Hey. Hey. Mh. Hey. Hey. Mh. Don't they realize how many times we are going to hear those words? Give us a bit of variety! I had to edit the companions' audio files to make them say more interesting things on selection! -
It's hard to say. Most fixes and features tend to be retroactive, but not all of them—and it's unlikely that the patch notes will be complete at all, let alone that they mention whether fixes are retroactive. Waiting until TWM pt. II comes out is the safest bet to experience all the changes and features; however, YOLO and if you want to play the game now, you should. Even if you missed out on a couple fixes/features for this play through, you'd still get the bulk of it and you could always play the game again at any time in the future I second this and also add that if you're anything like me you'll probably restart a few times anyway before you settle on a character anyway so might as well get those restarts out the way beforehand. Eh eh thank you, but I've already played through the vanilla game twice, with dozens of restarts of course! Now I'm experiencing the wonders of the White March for the first time. As for the new companions, I'm planning to keep only the Devil of Caroc in my party (amazing character btw: interesting story, fantastic voiceover, funny lines "if this is a staring contest, I'm gonna win."), and leaving Zahua for the future, in WMPart 2, where he will get his personal quest. Does it look like a good plan? Have I understood it correctly?

Luckily, 0% chance. Death to consoles! Honestly, Pillars would look horrible on console and almost unplayable there. D:OS is a very different game, despite the isometric/RPGesque tags. Pillars of Eternity requires a lot more reading and micromanaging, it would need a total rework... a lot of resources would be spent in vain (since it wouldn't shine on consoles' market anyway) that could instead be used for PoE2. Now that's something I want to see!

This is a sort of necro, but this bug is still not fixed, at least for me. The casting sounds of many male voices are still muffled, almost mute in game. It's easy to understand the issue by listening to the .ogg audio files in Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\audio\vocalization\vo wav files\player. Specifically, the broken ones are: - from player_voice_set_m_mystic_0058 to player_voice_set_m_mystic_0062 - from player_voice_set_m_noble_0058 to player_voice_set_m_noble_0062 - player_voice_set_m_sinister_0058 to player_voice_set_m_sinister_0062
