3.05 Live on Steam
InsaneCommander replied to Sking's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Thanks for the fix! As for the change in the Unlabored Blade, I agree with the others. I remember taking a long time to develop that weapon and now it doesn't seen worth it. -
The Eyeless and the End of WM2

If you're already in Stalwart then either the bug won't matter, or it has already fired. It only affects the ogres in the initial fight there. To be honest, whilst the bug was fairly big for that particular set of fights, it was fairly minor in the grand scheme of things, particularly given there was a fairly easy work around (don't use the autoload at the start of Stalwart). Good to know. I was worried this bug might appear somewhere else or have some permanent effect.

Great news. I'm currently in Stalwart .

Survey for the future
InsaneCommander replied to Sking's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I voted for the Stormlight Archives - although they are not finished yet. I seems to be the perfect lore and setup for an RPG. Lots of different orders with different powers, enchanted items, different "races" and so on, while the books are simply awesome. So true! I'd love to see that happen one day. -
Sometimes I wish I could have 7 or 8 party members. 6 is perfectly fine, but the sixth character is always a difficult choice. I never had any problems managing them. If anyone have, just restrict party size to 4. Even a new player can learn how to deal with combat and in the worst case scenario can play at normal with a smaller party with no problems.

How to kill Adra Dragon
InsaneCommander replied to Von's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
What is your party composition? What is the level of difficulty? On normal and hard I did this: Edit: I was at level 13. This is near the beginning of the battle for my hard playthrough: Here you can see what buffs I had on my barbarian (WM character spoilers). And also the maximum damage my party took (this was my second try. On the first she killed too many people so I decided to try again with all I had. I don't remember exactly why this time was so much easier. Maybe she got interrupted...): You should also use all the resting bonus, brothel, food, drinks, etc as possible. My first try (with almost no buffs and the party going all melee ): -
Portrait Request
InsaneCommander replied to Mocker22's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I posted some in the specific thread, just to keep them together: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/71722-the-custom-portraits-thread/?p=1829483 There is a link there for cropping to the game size. Maybe one of them will suit your needs. -
I have the Stormcaller Ranger with a bear companion and it's great. He's been knocked out a couple of times, but that was before I could build the other character's healing abilities. The ranger is still at level 6, so the bear is the star for now. Very good for a party that otherwise would have only two tanks.

Interesting build. I wanted a Drake ambassador (another good one!) but it looks too much like what I had for Kana on my last playthrough. So I'll try this instead. Edit: this is just perfect for my character! Everything I picked so far is what you suggest here. Even the armor is the one I wanted for my chanter.

3.03 Update Live
InsaneCommander replied to Sking's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
The Cipher's Psychic Backlash is so powerful now that it affects even the cipher. lol -
Aramintai, in this playthrough that you convinced them to reforge Abbydon, did you finish the Crucible Knight's first quest, "Built to Last"? I want to do it to have access to Dunstan's shop, but if that prevents this ending, I won't do it. On my last playthrough I did the quest and the Eyeless mentioned it as an argument against me.

Did you kill Harmke?
InsaneCommander replied to adikKt's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It was a nice experience with the Bleak Walker. And there was some unexpected moments like the quest with the baby. The character would have no problem killing her, but then I thought: "wait a moment, this guy is the leader of the most feared tribe here and he can't kill a f****** baby?" Then I killed him instead. It was good because I (the player) wouldn't feel good doing that, even in a game... And I know that the reason he didn't kill the baby was to avoid complications, but my character didn't consider that. She assumed he was a coward and attacked him. -
Did you kill Harmke?
InsaneCommander replied to adikKt's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Well, there was a massacre in that village and the Devil is a murderer. If you are not near them, you may not be invested, just like most people irl aren't affected by wars and disasters in other countries. But being there and having heard Durance talk about the purges... I think it would have a serious effect. But that doesn't mean everyone would side with the Devil. Realistically, who would risk travelling with her? In a more complex game there could be quests with no apparent consequence or npcs/companions who would turn against you (imagine the Devil attacking you at night if you didn't side with her against Harmke...). But as you said, it's just a game and we will do quests like this for experience and to find out what happens. But in my case it made sense. My character was cruel and aggressive and the Devil was her best friend. The only other person in the group that shared her tendencies. In fact, the unofficial story of my character was that she committed a murder in the Living Lands and escaped to the Eastern Raech. So of course she would side with the Devil and have a great time executing Harmke and any fools who happened to be there with him. Btw, I thought they were not involved in Cold Morn, that they were just woodcutters from Stalwart. If I had played with my first character (benevolent/diplomatic) I would not kill him though. Good idea. I Should have done that with my evil character. That is true. When I played I thought they had nothing to do with Cold Morn. They just were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think Raedric is a different case. He may have had his reasons, but he did kill his wife and was terrorizing the Vale. So why not try an alternative? My good character avoided killing the guards but killed him. My evil character was a Bleak Walker, so she had to kill everyone there (I think the priest survived though). And she wanted all their equipment to sell. -

There were so many npcs I wanted to arrest. The Hylea priestess in Oldsong, the mercenary that talks to the Watcher in Cragholdt buffs... Even playing as a Bleak Walker I wanted to arrest them and have them flogged for their insolence. There can never be too many prisoners. If the dungeons get full, just sell to the slavers or animancers. -
The best of the Eternity
InsaneCommander replied to Cyseal's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
- Discussing Magran with Durance in Teir Evron - Slaughtering the Ethik Nôl (on my first playthrough I wondered if everyone in Twin Elms would turn aggressive) - Arrival at Stalwart - The end of WM II - Battle of Yenwood Not necessarily the best, but some moments were funny: - Durance's comment about the "frost-hewn breach" - Hiravias comment about Pallegina - Devil and Zahua - Maneha's sounds in combat ("hoo!") Edit: how could I forget these: - Sending Iovara back to the Wheel. Against her will. - The scripted interaction with the lift in Durgan's Battery. -
I will bring him along, but only if he is a healer, and even then he must be restricted in that he can cure anything except Lupus. Because it is never actually Lupus. However, he will have spell mastery for Cure Cancer, Amyloidosis or Autoimmune. It doesn't matter if someone is actually afflicted by any of these diseases, if you always consider them, you end up knowing the treatment.
