  1. Hey everyone, so i'll try to keep this story concise as I can. Triple crown party all @ lvl 9: Eder Durance PC - Shock druid 2nd Shock druid Chanter Paladin So I'm going around the north side of Elmshore map and engage that big mob of ogre druids/matron/ogres, very good fight but due to them casting like 4-5 plague of insects my party's health dropped rapidly. Durance actually saved my game by casting barring deaths door on my PC and a couple others when I knew that health was becoming a major issue in the fight. Somehow I disengaged the fight and my PC survived with 2 hp. Killed most of the mob but not all. Two of my characters didn't make it, my 2nd shock druid and the chanter. Long story short, I then went to twin elms and leveled up to 10 so I can purchase 2 new characters at level 9. Question is, should I replace those two with what I had before, or does somebody have a much better idea that would fit better with my party? Maybe there is a different class that would synch up better.
  2. Ahhh, now there's a neat trick. So the chanter effectively becomes a pilon but can still chant. I do like the door jam move and this makes it even better. ATM my party isn't too squishy so it can handle an open fight, that was one my main goals. One question though: if I use Withdraw will enemies still attack the withdrawn character? For an open fight that would be important to know and I have never used that spell yet. Thanks for the suggestion and i'll probably make the change. I'm trying to get items that will raise constitution for madhornet. I found a pair of boots for +1 constitution thus far. EDIT: put my post in the quote, fixed now.
  3. Hey everyone, just wanted to get some feedback and strategies for my current triple crown party. I have failed iron mode a few times in the past but I think I found a good balance here thats fun to play. Thanks to Boeroer and SimpleEnigma for 3 of my party members. PC - ranged DPS rogue - madhornet Fighter - dps - the Engineer Fighter - tank - Eder Paladin - tank - from SimpleEnigma Priest - Durance Druid - not sure what to call it, I have cat form and investing heavilly in shock damage. I loved casting insect plague in bg2 so I cant wait for my druid to get high enough level to cast it, as well as the high level storm spells. I kept 2 story characters so I at least get some of their quests and also get the party customization I want. Any advice on combat strategies for what I have would be great, i'm looking to complete this run and I'll scratch tooth and nail to stay alive!
  4. Yes I encountered them in Caed Nua but there was no ambush mechanic, and neither with the shades in the gilded vale dungeon as well. You can't get out of the lighthouse room once combat starts. I did shadow beyond away from my knocked out party members to see if the shades would stop hovering over them and return to their original position, but no. It's over. That's my point, there was zero chance for me to continue playing as soon as I enetered as there was no way I could have known, and no way to escape. Don't feel bad though, I already have a new game started on potd but no trial of iron. Trial of iron means one chance, I get that and I understood when I started my game. Unfortunately, I guess i'll have to playthrough first to know where to avoid these "no chance" encounters, at least until my level is high enough. I just thought its a low move having all those enemies appear instantly.
  5. Hey everyone, so just a little bit of an introduction. I'm fairly new to PoE but experienced with IE games in general. So anyways, I have fun doing no death runs on BG 1 and 2 in the past. I had a couple runs already on trial of iron path of the damned, died a couple times real early to wolves. No biggie, I don't know how hard most of enemies are yet so i'll just treat those as practice runs. Now I have a solid run going, act 2 party of 6. My mains' a rogue, got 2 fighters, wizard, priest, and a chanter all about level 6. I'm about 16 hours in. So I wander into the lighthouse in Ondra's gift. Hey if the fight is too hard no worries, i'll just get out. So I start scouting the room with my rogue, looks empty so far. I get about halfway in then out of nowhere 3 specters and about 5 or 6 shades appear all at once. Rogue is instantly detected. My heart sank. "Oh **** oh **** oh ****". Ok plan B, I look around quickly to see if there is a corridor I can lock down and defend. Nope, room is wide open, no way i'm walking out of this fight alive. You know, I would have a much greater experience if the game gave me a chance to finish trial of iron on hardest without doing a run through of the game first. Obviously if I saw all those enemies (or knew from a previous pkaythrough) I would have nope'd the hell out of there. Seriously, give me a chance, don't just insta teleport hard enemies out of nowhere with no route of escape or a proper defense. I don't want to have a full run through first to have a shot at this.
  6. Hi everyone, I really enjoyed playing bg2 and i'm looking forward to getting into this as soon as I can. Here's the situation: I recently got rid of my old rig (580gtx 2600k) with plans to build a new one. My old one lasted for about 4 years, its done its job and been great but I figure its time for a new one. Now, I hear these new Pascal gpu's are coming out in 2016, so I would rather not drop a load of cash to build one right, especially because i'm interested in running 4k. So I was just wondering, since I really want to play this game right now, perhaps someone could recommend me a kind of a middle of the road system that will run this well with the purpose of just getting by for now. Also just a side question, how is this game on 4k resolution? Thanks, looking forward to playing.
