After watching early access IMO its going to be of the charts (no spoilers)
InsaneCommander replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Does anyone know at what point he shows the map? I watched very little of his videos, just enough to check the graphics and a little bit of the boat. But I would like to see the map. He spends quite a lot of time just wandering around and check whatever he finds on the way. So if you are more focused on the story, you probably won't explore as much places as him in your first 15 hours. Also he made only a little progress on the major quest line, and didn't met all the companions yet, let alone recruit them. QQ图片20180506114205.png Oh, I'm gonna do a lot of exploration. I'll travel in random directions and see what the world has to offer. Hopefully find plenty of targets for piracy.

What class(s) are you planning making your first character and why?
InsaneCommander replied to Riftis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think I'll go with Assassin/Evoker. I want Xoti, Tekehu and Maia in my party, so I'll need a wizard. And I want to be a rogue and have Serafen too, for pirate reasons. I'm gonna travel the 7 seas (or as many as they have on Eora), raid, plunder and fight against evil. Can't wait to reproduce that reverse pickpocketing scene from the developer highlights video.

First playthrough without any Internet help? how important is this?
InsaneCommander replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Even if you get stuck you don't need to check the internet. There will be a lot of exploration to do in Deadfire, just go do something else for a time.

InsaneCommander replied to Verenti's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Depending on the factions you support, you could also call your ship "Queen Onezaka's Bed".

Recommendation for a Shifter multiclass?
I intend to have a Berserker/Shifter some day, regardless of any problems with friendly fire. It just seems like an interesting combination to me. I even considered it before knowing how "confused" works in Deadfire.

Baby on Board
InsaneCommander replied to ThatUndeadLegacy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!):D well if you want her to be a warrior she has a head start at least She might end up being one. Obsidian is grooming her for something important in PoE 3.

Baby on Board
InsaneCommander replied to ThatUndeadLegacy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Unique life indeed. Look at the things she did in PoE1: - go down the shaft in the ogre cave - sleep in the inventory while the party fought against dragons - have fun while the elevator was fixed in Durgan's Battery tower - stay quiet while sneaking in Adaryc's camp - survive drowning in the end of WM2 - jump into the pit in Burial Isle And she was just a baby. Imagine what she'll do in Deadfire.

Portraits II
InsaneCommander replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Pre Load? No. Full game release? Yeah, it will take all of 5 seconds. They are stored in the exact same filepath they were for Eternity 1, just the parent folder is now Deadfire. Portrait wise nothing changed, except for the inclusion of the two water color versions. Same file path, same naming conventions, same resolution, same PNG recommended, yada yada. Don't know why I asked, that is kind of obvious lol And I won't look because I don't want to be spoiled.

Ship Names and "The Defiant"
InsaneCommander replied to Verenti's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I have a vailian character. I combined the name Marie with the vailian "Ancelle" and formed "Mariencelle". I guess she would use a vailian name for her ship. If anyone has any suggestions, please share here. How is "Sassypants" in Vailian?

Portraits II
InsaneCommander replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)They're hidden in the beta to avoid spoilers and because the beta doesn't use them. They'll be easy to find and switch in the full game unless Obsidian deliberately hides them, and there's no reason to do so. Do you think they will be easy to find when we pre-download the game?

How good, mediocre or plain bad will Deadfire be?
InsaneCommander replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I see even you are capable of making that most classic mistake. You are applying logic, in an forum thread on the internet, on a niche website dedicated to a rules/mechanics heavy RPG. That blunder is only slightly less famous than engaging in a land war in Asia. Seriously though people, there is 0 reason to believe Deadfire will not be more successful and well received than Eternity 1. Reviewers who got early review copies, and have tweeted their thoughts, have all basically universally liked the game. I recall one where the guy said it was "a game of the year contender". Additionally the Backer Beta at this point is worth less than monopoly money. We know it is versions behind, we know they have adjusted the gameplay since that version likely multiple times. Hell, we know it was not the most recent version of the game on the day they released it as the latest backer beta even. So we should probably stop holding it up as an example of how the game will play in all regards. It didn't hold water in Eternity 1, it won't in Deadfire. But to avoid falling into the logic pit trap myself..... God Deadfire is gonna suck! If only the MC was Commander Shepard (from ME2 obviously), the game had 50% VO only, and Rammstein had made the main theme song. Then this game would like rock for real! Wait... you can't play as Shepard?!? Now I'm worried.

[POTD Difficulty] Launch NOT tuned discussion thread
InsaneCommander replied to Haran's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Really? I found most of them weren’t worth action time. I used all of them right at the start of a fight and summoned them into position to dirsupt the enemy as much as possible. This had the following major effects: - disrupted enemy movement - they soaked up damage - they soaked up enemie casters spells - gave me time to buff and debuff Trick is dont give the figurines to casters give them to melee guys so you dont lose valuable casting time at the start of a fight How you went through pillars 1 without doing this (unintentionally) is mind boggling, biggest cheese tactic in the entire game BY FAR I've defeated the Adra Dragon without figurines in PotD, but I tried with figurines too and it becomes incredibly easy. Besides the above, you also have time to reposition your party (after buffing).

The Console Command Thread
InsaneCommander replied to malchiorita's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)There are actually a ton of non-cheat commands at your disposal. For instance, pop open the console and type Find Set or Find Toggle and the log window should display a whole list of things you can do. Find is also super useful for cheaters too. Find Give should print off a whole bunch of simple cheat commands. Good to know. I don't care much for achievements but I don't intend to use "iRoll20s" on my first playthrough.

The Console Command Thread
InsaneCommander replied to malchiorita's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)In PoE1 there was a command that didn't require the "iRoll20s" and didn't break achievements: SetZoomRange
