The loading time issue is a known issue since the beginning that has never really gone away. playing on SSD will help. also having a minimal amount of saves helps to i believe. Its better in POE2 from what i can tell. Also in POE2 there is a whole AI system you can use thats not in POE1. Its like the dragon age origins AI system where you can pick very specific actions for different situations.

Having no fun whatsoever
draego replied to Bye's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I sorta agree but this assumes that people have to go into POE like an old d&d game. In those old games people needed to meta the crap out of the game to not screw their build with the wrong weapons or in the case of NWN games the wrong abilities. so there was a level of power gaming you had to do to get into the game at all. POE to me lowered the bar of what you needed to know to start the game but if players are used to d&d they may assume its the case so they may try to learn the systems really well and find out they are difficult like you mentioned. but if instead people just picked up the game and just played and made a character they thought they wanted they would find it worked out pretty well. I see this line of question to this day with new players saying whats the best build or is my build bad or will this build gimp me or will this build work with companions. and they havent played one moment of the game but assume they must power game or the game will be broken. this seems like a very dnd mindset and maybe fun for tabletop but for single player game it takes out some of the fun of just playing the game. but you are right they could have done better job explaining some stuff. i get im talking about a slightly different aspect but the builds question kinda bleeds into the systems question somewhat -
Ye i agree Boeroer. i find POE 1 and 2 more accessible than d&d / pathfinder. i never played tabletop d&d so playing a game based on pathfinder to me seems really convoluted compared to POE. I played pathfinder a for a little while and it makes me appreciate POEs straight forward attributes, more balanced systems, and commitment to no trap builds.

Temple of Eothas Question

No Perception isnt used for finding hidden objects (In POE2 it is). Mechanics skill is used for finding hidden object and lockpicking and trap disarming -
https://store.steampowered.com/app/987720/ONINAKI/ ONINAKI the story in this game seems kinda familiar lol. I mean i know it a coincidence but really. Below is the description from steam "Reincarnation is the foundation of our way of life. We celebrate the lives we’ve been given, and offer up prayers for the next. It is grief of death which shackles the living, and causes the dead to stray. Indeed, there is no greater affront to reincarnation. So do we turn our grief to joy as we send off the dead. But the souls of those who held back their tears in life still need salvation in death. A duty that falls to the Watchers. Their task is to guide the wandering souls known as the Lost, and serve as keepers of the Living World and the Beyond. The Watchers sever the bonds that tie the Lost to this world, and send them on to the next. They navigate the emotions of the living and the dead. They prize life above all else. This is the story of one Watcher."

I wonder if some of that has to do with outside combat buffing. Josh talked about in one of the POE talks that pre buffing is really hard to balancefor because i guess you basically have to balance expecting the player could be prebuffed to the nth degree each fight in dungeon. i mean you cant predict if the player wont do that for one fight vs another fight so if say you have 10 fights in a dungeon all fights have to be tuned expecting it otherwise it become to easy i suppose. im sure there are other things in pathfinder/dnd that cause video game balance to be out of wack

I would like to see that because the last several interviews i saw them do about BG3 they wouldnt reveal what type of mechanic the game will be. They kept saying they would say later. So i am just assuming it will be turn based since that is what that studio does recently but could be something else

Chanter won’t chant at all
draego replied to Ahoysius's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Probably should report on the Versus Evil forums they are responsible for the switch port. They are doing the bug fixes for switch. -
Ye i wanted to try a version of that tank barb too for sure. there are some bashing shields in POE2 but one issue is that barb cant spread 'on hit' affects to carnage hits anymore. When i played that character in POE1 i made a melee debuff/CC with barb skills + weapon hits CC + tanking with shield bash for dual wield melee damage and that is not possible anymore. There are two handed weapons that have AOE effects but no one handed as far as i am aware. I was thinking i would need to multiclass the barb with say wizard or something to get the extra CC for the build since the on hit melee stuff was removed.
