  1. While considering my options for my first playthrough, I thought of something like that but dismissed the idea 'cause it seemed that getting to 10 wounds while being in the backline would not be super reliable. And shame on me, I was too lazy to fire up the beta to confirm it. I assume that's not that big of an issue then?
  2. I had this idea from the fig campaign that they would have banters albeit much less than the companions. A quick comment here and there, limited interactions, etc. Too bad if they really have none, that would have given them some more personality but hey, no big deal!
  3. Looks like smaller DLC indeed... And if I remember right, when they did that poll, that's not what players that bought The White March preferred... Wonder what's the point in doing those polls then? I'm skeptical it can be as good as WM2 on a shorter format but I hope they can prove me wrong...
  4. Hopefully not a duplicate but it seems way too game breaking to take the risk of not reporting it Somewhere during my exploration of the Poko Kohara ruins (the exterior), my watcher just stopped doing anything. He would move but not attack or cast spells. Quitting the game and reloading had no effect. Nor did unequipping / equipping weapons. Save game attached. save bug watcher.zip
  5. Was brainstorming ideas yesterday for a multiclass character for my very first playthrough. Wanted something that could fit with the companions, be viable for Veteran, and also made sense from a roleplay perspective. Settled on a monk / chanter and started the beta to try an helwalker / skald. Seemed like it could work, take some hits, hit back like a truck, cast big damage spells. In practice, I felt like the actual skills of the monk were lacking synergies with the chanter. I was just auto-attacking most of the time and casting a couple spells a fight. And taking a **** ton of damage too... I could have made some big mistakes in building though. Can't remember exactly but I did not have many skills to spend those wounds on, it's possible I took too many passives. I think I also put too many points in might that were not necessary because of helwalker and could have gone into intellect for stun duration or tankiness. Wasn't awful by any mean but not great either. Am I playing it wrong? Anyone also tried something similar?
  6. Finally got an hour to spare so I decided to fire up the latest beta. Can't comment too much on mechanics and whatnot but as far as UI goes, the number one thing that struck me is how cool of an idea the speed slider is but also how hard it was to use. I just had a really hard time moving it. Haven't looked if hotkeys were available, maybe that is the solution? Or make it bigger? I found the granularity to be off too. When you're at the minimum, it's like, really really slow. But when you go just one level faster, it's too fast I felt. There needs to be a value in between. Hope you guys can have a look before the release cause that's huge quality of life here.
  7. Most likely Veteran for very first playthrough, definitely PotD for all subsequent ones!
  8. Yes!!! Ok, I know, I get it, I have serious OCD but still! Mostly agree with everything otherwise, except the map.
  9. Regardless of the number of poe1 builds or poe2 builds or multiclassing or whatever, the issue is that progression when you pick a single class character *feels* linear. Choices *are* limited. And I think this is potentially concerning. And by potentially, I mean that we haven't seen high level talent trees or unique items. Not that I'm advocating for the return of general talents, never liked those very much.
  10. AI Behavior is not in the beta. All that is there is a temp system. For some reason, I completely missed that information and assumed that because there was some sort of AI working, the feature was fully implemented. My bad then
  11. Finally got some time to play the beta, yeah \o/ About 2-3 hours in (not counting character creation), I'm in the Engwithan Waystation, lvl2 so far from done but enough for first impressions. I've read the thread but don't quite remember everything so there's probably a lot that's already been said. And for what it's worth, I'm playing on veteran difficulty. + New names for difficulty are cool. Not that I mind much but if it helps newer players choose the proper difficulty for them, all the better. - Bring back the navigation between menus during character creation, please! Was well done and useful in PoE1, no reason not to have it here. Sometimes, you make a choice that changes stats and you want to redistribute them, sometimes you want to change how your character look base on the class, etc. + Really like all the work that went on the models. Would be nice to have more heads for example but I guess this will be done for release. + Multiclass / subclasses, ho yeah, that's what we're talking about! ? Single class characters. Not sure about those. I understand complaints and I agree that progression does feel EXTREMELY linear for them. On the other hand, we haven't quite see the full talent tree yet. And I don't think bringing back the plethora of general talents from PoE1 is a very good idea either, most of them felt flavorless. Still, something the team should think about. - Portrait selection could certainly be expanded. - When leveling up multiclass characters, there needs to be a way to tell how many points are available to spend and where. - The empower usage was super confusing. When I first read it, I understood that I could either empower a spell or myself. When the time came that I needed additional resources and wanted to empower myself, I tried to click on my actual character, as I would if I wanted to cast a spell... Which did nothing. I dismissed it as a bug. It wasn't until much later that I realized that the *portrait* was glowing and that it was the way to do it. Being able to do it both ways would be cool! + Quick saving time... **** yeah!!! + Really like the map exploration by foot or by boat. In the context of the beta, It does feel somewhat empty though. I understand it's a hard task to make the world feel lively without making it feel gimmicky but I'm sure you guys will find a way. + Atmosphere, graphics, a huge improvement for sure. Water color portrait was a really cool idea! - Wizard... Now that's a complex question. As a huge fan of BG2, I was somewhat disappointed when Josh announced that vancian was gone but I had faith you guys could come up with something interesting. So far, the execution seems sub par. It just feels weak. I mean, yeah, there has been a couple good fireballs but 80% of the time, I just chain misses. I'm not kidding, I've had the mercenary wizard try to cast Necrotic Lance about 6 or 7 times and you know how many I've landed? Zero. How's that worth having in a party? I liked the retargeting of spells though, has some potential. - Switching items between party members is awful. - The AI behavior screen needs some serious work I feel. I mean, why the **** would I want to switch *randomly* between agressive and passive? That's some pretty useless usage of UI space if you ask me. On the other hand, fine tuning some of those behaviors seems mandatory to me. - Order of saves when loading one - A metric ton of bugs and performances issues. Won't list them all (and I assume most of them are already logged in on your side) but I've had some seriously annoying ones: flickering UI, characters turning invincible during a fight, HP loss not showing in red on your portrait (feels bad when you think your tank is fine but is actually at 10HP) and a dozen more. Will post them in the appropriate subforum if I can get some clear steps to reproduce. Anyway, you guys have some polish to do! And that's about it for now. It might seem like there's a lot of - but nothing that can't be fixed and the + are pretty big, so, keep up the good work guys!
  12. Really cool update, city looks beautiful! Am I the only one to think that Xoti has a really weird way of walking though? Like her arms moving are just not right...
  13. Should have a shiny new badge too! While I was at it, upgraded my pledge with a couple addons that I could not quite afford at the time of the fig campaign. Let's hope they promote the game a little more, more people do that and we reach that last remaining goals.
  14. French translation was awful. Not even talking about "not sounding quite as good", I'm saying plain mistakes because some sentences were taken completely out of context. I wish translators could play the game they're translating so they could get a better feel for the world.
  15. Cool stories there! Had no idea about those If you don't mind me being curious, what then, if not half-orc?
  16. Just got a confirmation tweet from Feargus for the backer portal, in case someone's in my situation
  17. oh, too bad Guess it was a little too good of a deal Back to waiting for a move from Obsidian I guess.
  18. Serafen could fit I guess but yeah, agree with you. Those companions are the best, need more of them
  19. I think you may have just solved my dilemma of the last 2 weeks. 'Cause I kinda really really want a box. And the guidebook 'cause it looks amazing. And the figurines also, will fit perfectly one of my shelves. But I'm a tad short on money for CE + everything and the standard physical box is just a rip off. But CE now and addons later could work just about perfectly. Do we have confirmation that this will be possible?
  20. Something which could be interesting for some of you. It is now possible to select "Additional Collector's Edition Box" as an extra when pledging. Which means you can theoretically select the minimum $5 pledge and get a CE for a total of $85 + shipping which could be a decent deal. Obviously, you miss out on a ton of things (digital rewards, second copy, beta access, etc) but still, an option to consider. No update on the content of the standard physical box though
  21. From the latest update, seems like they are more than willing to update tiers and throw in some additional stuff. Hopefully, they realize that some cardboard with a steam key inside for 80 bucks or something is not that appealing to people and give us something a little more solid
  22. I twitted the above feedback to Feargus who replied to me so at least, they're aware of it. Now, we just have to hope they can come up with something good for us
  23. Talking about story. Am I the only to think that the latest lore update is kinda lazy? The only reason you guys could come up with to justify all those factions being here is "Adra! But... MOAR PWERFUL!!!" Common Obsidian, this is no Dragon Ball Z! You can do better than that...
  24. This feedback is indeed spot on! Thanks for writing a much clearer post than what I attempted in my previous messages. For collectors like us who enjoy having a boxed copy of their games but can't quite always afford collectors editions, this is indeed a bummer. While I'm at it, noticed some inconsistencies too in the descriptions for the different bundles. For the $149CE, text description does not mention a printed manual but the description with images do.
