  1. Agree with Stoner's post... This discussion is boring as f*** and has nothing to do with OP... You guys are just going nowhere with your arguments and it's pretty obvious you are not convincing one another anytime soon... Take it to PM... Or maybe a mod should close? On topic... I'm fine with fewer companions but I would have liked the option to "change" them, deeply, make them more "evil". Aloth, Pallegina and GM come to mind as good candidates for that.
  2. It's funny, I posted yesterday a very similar question in another part of the forums: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/84830-spoiler-request-new-companions/ Durance is obviously a perfect fit for an Aggressive / Cruel type of party IMO but my issue is that it's really hard finding 4 others to go with him...
En anglais : [...] converting a portion of Grazes to Hits.
  4. Hi guys! I would just need a minor spoiler regarding companions personalities... Played the game vanilla through completion and now that both White March expansions are out, time to play some more. Pretty exited to try an evil playthrough this time. And like every time I play a BG type of game, I like to plan my party beforehand. I'm sold on Durance + Hiravias + Devil of Caroc but for the last two, I have no idea who would fit in. Figured Maneha, with a Raider background would probably be fine. PC will most likely be a Bleak Walker Paladin. Maybe Cipher if full of tank. So... Companions I haven't played at all yet: - Zahua - Maneha - Pallegina - Grieving Mother From a roleplay point of view, who would be the least out of place in that kind of party? Just a quick description of how they are when you first meet them and how they can evolve when you do their personal quests would be enough. Thanks!
Anglais : In combat, it contributes to Accuracy, the Reflex defense and grants a bonus to Interrupt.
  6. I have no #3. My #2 was to allow single character stealth which has already been implemented. Which leaves me with only one: Improve mages battle. I think that is one of the reasons BG2 combat system is so good. Walls of protections you have to take down. Incredibly powerful spells and summons. Contingencies, Time Stop, Crowd Control, Protection from magic, Invisibility, all their respective counters. I think that makes for some seriously strategic and challenging encounters.
  9. Really well thought out post, OP! Agree with pretty much all your points and you managed to make them crystal clear. Hope the dev team still read those forums and can improve on future installments.
  10. Hmmm, I don't know about that Better than most BG1's? Probably but BG1 companions are pretty lackluster if you don't play with NPC Project (which is why this mod is so popular). Better than BG2's Minsc / Jan / Imoen / All evil NPC? I would strongly disagree! They certainly have a lot more to say but that doesn't make them more interesting to me... (Prime example of that for me would be Sagani who talks a lot but is boring as ****) Anyway, I second the OP!
  11. Curious about that too! I was planning to start a second playthrough very soon but put it on hold when I read stuff about a 1.07 patch that was supposed to be pretty big... Is 2.0 and 1.7 the same? Cause if yes, I might start playing again now assuming the patch won't come out for quite a while.
  12. My box finally arrived today (France). Perfect condition, came in a big cardboard box + additional Polystyrene protections inside. Took them an eternity (yeah, I know, not proud of that one ) but god, it feels so good reading a manual, old-school style, with spell descriptions and all... Very happy!
  13. Same here, about 2h after I post my complaint message when I've had zero news for months... I've got to wonder if it's just a coincidence or not :D Anyway, glad to see it's finally on the way.
  14. Haven't received anything yet either... I mean, I'm not in a hurry (have already finished the game on steam) but I'd still like to receive my box some day. I understand the delay because of patches but we're mid June guys, not a very professional way of handling things :/
  15. I wholeheartedly support of OP's request! One thing though. Like people in this thread have said, I think psychopath characters ala BG2 were fine at that time but lacked depth compared to more fleshed out companions like the ones we have here in PoE. They did a fine job having more "grey" companions with a real background but my big issue here is that the majority of them are clearly on the side of "light-gray" rather than "dark-gray" if that comparison made any sense What we need is either more companions, some with shadowy motives *and / or* a way to influence them on a certain side depending on how you solve their personal quests. Would love to see that for an expansion / sequel!
  16. I'm going to assume this is going to happen at some point I think I'm fine with Obsidian *simply* having a decent pathing / AI system as long as it can be improved by mods, which, again, will likely be tackled by someone in the future. And as a true fan of SCS, I cannot wait for this day :D
  17. To do that, you would need a lot more companions though. It made sense in BG2 cause you had both some "good" and "evil" ones that could react to how you play. Here they made the choice of having less companions with more developed stories but also a lot more "grey" so that you're not screwed on companions if you want to be an ass. Not sure if the trade is really worth it... Actually, what I would have preferred is some way to influence your companions a lot more. A bit like when you change Viconia alignment in BG2 but that could go both ways. I had no idea that the Grieving Mother would react negatively to **** moves though... Did not play with her on my first playthrough thinking I would save her for a later, "evil" one. Kinda disappointed
  18. Holy ****! No idea you could do that lol. Very well played by Obsidian to have a quest there... Will definitely try when I do my evil playthrough at some point in the future.
  19. Sagani, by far. She had a few decent banters but other than that, nothing enjoyable from my side. Found her personal story boring (like I care about her children and husband...) and her quest had 0 appeal to me. I also hate playing rangers. Took her with me cause I wanted my first playthrough to be a "good" one and I thought she would fit the mentality of the group but yeah, that was about it.
  20. Question for the dev actually (if one reads that kind of thread^^). Do you have any plan on patching the game with improved translations at some point? Either by taking our suggestions or by working with the translation company which I assume is third party. French one is indeed extremely perfectible and it would be a shame for newer players / players with no "mod knowledge" to miss on improvements.
  21. When I encountered him, I left him alive because was pretty sure I would find a cure somewhere later in the dungeon and maybe use him as a pet but did not find anything... Maybe we've all missed something?
  22. Ha! I knew there was something fishy about Durance's quest! I'll probably wait for the patch 'cause I don't really like messing with game files but thanks for letting us know quickly about it
  23. About that... That's the thing that I liked the least in the ending, "fake" gods being such a big deal. I'm sorry but I just don't see it. And I don't think It's me being obtuse or anything. Just seems like a big "meh, whatever, it's the same for people". I mean, maybe it's just a cultural thing? Me being a die hard atheist, it just doesn't ring the same compared to other players? I also feel like there's little build up to it, that it just comes out randomly during act 4. Maybe it could have helped otherwise.
  24. Just finished the game... What confused me the most is everything around those "fake" gods. Why would it matter to people if they were created by some ancient civilization (how were they created is another question I have actually) or if they were here in the first place? I mean, at the end of the day, it's same right? Same powers and ****. The last act is all about it, how that's a big deal if people would know but I seriously don't get why...
  25. Same issue here too. Failed quest after getting to Thaos and no other dialog options than "it's just a feeling I have."
