  1. That reminds me of Oblivion. A task for the thieves guild was to sneak into the archmage's tower and steal a staff. I was like... WTF?! I need to steal from myself?! :D
  2. That "otherwise unaccessible treasury" is accessible, you just need good enough mechanics. that large, round switch is blue by default if you absorb him, pink if you discover it with mechanics. So, absorbing him is by far the worst choice.
  3. No loot at all. First playthrough: I killed Kolsc, got his loot and that's it. Second playthrough: I killed Raedric. Later I accepted his challenge, He claimed to have killed Kolsc and every guard, but there was nothing to loot. Loot wise it's probably best if you kill everyone. Both wannabe leaders and all the guards.
  4. That fampyr would have taken you to the top of the keep. It won't even turn hostile, not even after the fight. That's like someone offering you 50 million dollars and you'd be like... "No, fk you!" And then ask "how do I get rich?"
  5. That's not Elmshore. That's Pearlwood Bluff, south of Defiance Bay. 1. Pearwood Bluff, edge of the cliff 2. Elmshore, adra arch 3. Northwaeld, north-west, that's where you find
  6. You can do these without being locked out, all of 'em will earn you reputation: Dozens: You can get Osric's Armor. Doemenels: You can obtain the letter and steal the gem, beat that guy up, help Merdreth, and kill the Trading Company guy. Knights: You can get the research notes and do something about the wanted orlan hiding in the catacombs. Anything further will lock you out, but they will all warn you.
  7. ^ This would be OK. Having merchants sell such stuff would also be OK, you just have to spend coin and be satisfied with only one of said item being available. Putting the only bracers that grant x1.2 spell damage (taking this example for now) in a container that may or may not spawn is absolutely not OK, because there is no alternative. There are 3 unique items that grant +3 Might, an amulet, a ring and belt (guaranteed to be found), yet there is only 1 bracer with x1.2 spell damage which one may or may not get. On top of that a spell damage multiplier is something I'd consider unique, while a simple +stat shouldn't be on a named, unique item by itself imo. I'm making use of whatever is available one way or the other, but I'd prefer to work my way to whatever I need rather than use additem whatever 1. It kinda spoils the fun, but not getting stuff you want is no fun at all. This is how I feel rewarded for my efforts. On top of that it totally spoils replayability. I mean... why should I even bother if I don't end up with the character I want just because the number I got when I pressed New Game wasn't in my favor. There are power gamers, there are carebears, and there is me. I want my character to end up just like I planned. I may even choose items based on aesthetics and it's really disappointing if it's not available *this time*.
  8. I never rush for anything. I didn't do in BG2, nor in PoE. The point is that some non-unique items with unique properties may never be found in a playthrough.
  9. Exactly! A specific container may contain item A or item B which makes it random.
  10. I'm having a hard time understanding the logic behind this. I'm not against random loot, but if there is a specific item with a unique property even if it's not called Obsidian Entertainment's unique gloves there should be a failsafe. A good example is Blunting Belt: 1st playthrough: found 2, 2nd playthrough: found none, but... it's available from the blacksmith in Guilded Vale. So, if I'm unlucky I can still buy it. There are a few items however I either never found (maybe my super-thoroughness wasn't enough) or didn't find in another playthrough. A few items that I recall: Archer's Gloves: Found 0. That's the only item with x1.2 ranged damage (not to mention it's bugged - you have to reequip it after loading or else it won't work) Bracers of Spiritual Power: According to Josh this one is tied with Gauntlets of Ogre Might. This is extremely irritating. A unique property (x1.2 spell damage) that is only found on those gloves vs some gauntlets that provide +2 Might. I could build a dam on the Amazonas with the amount of items that have +Might. Found 1 in 2 playthroughs. Gauntlets of Puissant Melee: Found 0. Only item with x1.2 melee damage Mantle of Wreathing Flame: No idea what it does, but I'm sure I haven't found it on my 1st playthrough and I doubt there is any other item with the same property. Stalker's Torc: I'm not sure if this is random (shouldn't be) or not (maybe I'm just too stupid to find this), but I've found every single class specific item for every class (all sold by merchants) except this. 2 playthroughs... still none. I'm sure there are plenty of other items that are randomly generated with properties that have no alternative. Does anyone else feel like this is BS?
  11. 1 stat and skill based on the companion you sacrifice.
  12. What I meant was: I have absolutely no more options when I initiate a dialogue with him. Anyways, I loaded the pre-endgame autosave and tried. He left for good, I can't add him back to the party. I wonder if he's anywhere to be found or will he reappear later.
  13. Try and let us know. I just tried on my finished playthrough and all I get is "The end of the road greets us at last........"
  14. Yes. You get an attribute bonus based on the companion you sacrificed. Sacrificing Edér for example will net you +1 might.
  15. No, you need to have 3 characters. 2 standing on the symbols and 1 approaching the altar. You can use animal companions, and I think summons should work as well, but you can't use those outside of combat.
  16. You don't need a quest for the spear. Here are the options: http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Cladhalíath Afaik the only outdated things about it are the damage multipliers. 1.5x damage should be 1.3x ever since they got rid of the %DR, but other than that it should be accurate.
  17. I sided with Raedrick and didn't get any quest, or at least I didn't find any. I'm quite thorough.
  18. I don't know what you have against Hylea. I chose Galawain because of the might bonus and I was OK with his version as well. If I wouldn't have cared about stats I'd have surely chosen Hylea. Hylea's idea isn't the "good" choice, it's the "right" choice. Think of it as a theft. Someone steals your bike: Hylea would want it returned. Wael would want it to be thrown somewhere where it won't be found easily. It'd end up as a rusty piece of garbage or someone would find it and use it. Galawain would dismantle it and give the pieces away which would serve as spare parts and could fix a lot of other bikes Woedica would take it and use it. Berath would melt it down and eventually someone would use it to create a new bike. Rymrgand would smash it and lock it away so it can't be used nor recycled. If I were a thief and stole your bike, which god would you pray to?
  19. Look it up on the wiki. It has been there for quite some time since this is BB content. The other thing you can craft there is the Cloudpiercer if you side with the Dozens.
  20. Oh, bummer! Didn't know about the forced conversation, but it doesn't change much unless you use armor on your wizard.
