  1. They're excellent, funny, enjoyable, witty, extremely well-designed, with great music and voice-acting. I strongly recommend them to anyone.
  2. Shame on you! Where do you think you are, ? Also, how did you do that?
  3. I believe they're doing something with the HKs, since their last minor bug fix was something to do with getting a group of HKs to stand up straight, or something. Plus HK-47 puts in an appearance in Star Wars Galaxies, does he not?
  4. I don't know if you're wrong. I have heard, and this is purely anecdotal and I have no evidence to back this up, but I've heard other ex-pats say that governments tend to fiddle the statistics so the minority, whatever it is, is fewer in number on paper than it really is. Apparently 5% of Saudi Arabia in Shia in the official statistics, but colleagues who've worked in the east of the country don't believe it. But yes, Bahrain's the other region state with a majority Shia population and a ruling Sunni family, but in most countries governments are dominated by the majority religion. My experience of Shias and Sunnis is limited because I tend to avoid controversy in the classroom, but I've had Shia and Sunni students together in class without a problem, and I know they work together in major corportaions without problem. I don't know if they mix socially, perhaps not. But they do seem to co-exist peacefully, even if there is the potential for conflict to develop. That said, my exposure is to the relatively well-educated middle class, so how representative they are is unclear.
  5. The last one, because I think I saw it more often on TV when I was a kid, and so remember it better. I'm sure Episode V was a better movie, though.
  6. Features are important too. Aren't they? Are they? What are they? Are they different to bugs? I doubt the TSLRP team feel under undue pressure - they know how eager we are to get the finished product, but also how much faith we have in their work and their judgement. Whenever you think it's ready, guys.

The Department of Education is there for the parents and their votes. I doubt you'd find many teachers who'd say it was there for them, when all it does it create paperwork and foist a dozen initiatives a week on them.
  8. My flight from Saudi Arabia to the UK today went fairly well. I recommend Saudi Airlines - the food today was pretty good and they had some good movies on the entertainment system (and Eragon, which doesn't count). The best thing today was flying during the day. The last couple of times I've made the trip it's been flights leaving at one o'clock in the morning or thereabouts, and I much prefer arriving in the late afternoon, so I have time to wind down and get to sleep at a decent hour.
  9. Shia and Sunni co-exist peacefully in most Gulf States at least. There are increased tensions between them now because each feels their co-religionists are under attack from the other in Iraq. The solution is not to stir up a bloody civil war in Iraq, but of course no-one saw that coming when the US invaded, except oops actually yes they did. Is this decision a reprieve? I can see how for tactical reasons you might not want to announce in advance your exit date, so perhaps the Democrats' proposal wasn't ideal, but the coalition needs to get out of Iraq and quickly. Of course no-one can be sure of what will happen afterwards - but then, no-one's sure what will happen next anyway. I wonder if the US' greatest fear in leaving Iraq isn't the loss of the sense of control, however illusory that sense is. What exactly is it that coalition troops are currently doing in Iraq that its cessation upon their withdrawal will lead to disaster? Once the coalition goes, however, my own view is that there won't be a massive bloodbath, because there are too many actors within and outside Iraq who have an interest in preventing it. What's more likely is endless rounds of negotiations and peace talks, sponsored by Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran and whoever else feels like it - the insurgents will feel flattered to be invited, they'll continue with low-grade violence just to keep themselves important but won't escalate. That's my prediction, for what it's worth. As a matter of interest, I read in the paper today that the US government is toying with the idea of changing tack in Iraq to treat it like a civil war - with the US trying to broker deals between the factions rather than simply siding with the Iraqi government. I'm glad they're coming to accept that it's a civil war, especially after they were so rude and dismissive about those of us who've been calling it a civil war for a while now. However, the coalition needs to understand that they are not, and cannot for a long time be, regarded as honest brokers in the Middle East. Their clout may still be such that their approval for deals needs to be sought, but honest brokers? Not this half-century.
  10. According to RPGWatch, JoWood is now advertising for a developer to make Gothic 4. I wonder if Obsidian will be tempted to apply...
  11. I appreciated Trask's little tutorial. Of course, I read the manual first, but controls don't stick in my head and the in-game tutorial is very useful. Thanks Trask. Wherever you are, may the Force be with you. *wipes away tear*
  12. I imagine there'll be a few token 'good guy' Burmese rebels. They'll lack the courage to do anything for themselves but will eventually be inspired by Mr. Rambo's fine example and leadership to take on the SLORC more directly. Mr. Rambo will probably put his hand on their leader's shoulder towards the end of the movie to show his approval and encouragement.
  13. Poor Trask and Amie. At least Pavel survived and went back to the farm, I guess. But Trask was a goner - I always choose the "You killed Trask!" option when fighting Darth Bandon, in his memory.
  14. Yes, I got that impression about Hellgate: London too. So I've stopped paying attention to it. If it turns out to be good as an RPG, I'm relying on forumites to let me know. Looking forward to: Mask of the Betrayer The Black Hound Any other good user-created modules for NWN or NWN2 possibly Fable 2 Sam & Max Series 2 (fingers crossed) Simon the Sorceror 4 Gray Matter very tentatively Fallout 3 Dragon Age
  15. I don't think British people really agree about the purpose of prison. One group thinks it's primarily for retribution, another group thinks it's for rehabilitation, and a third believes in a combination of the two. In order for prisons to enjoy popular support, they therefore need to do both, but they're so underfunded at the moment that there's very little rehabilitation work in some prisons - they're purely for retribution. I don't think states should be encouraged to believe they can kill their citizens legally, certainly not if there's an alternative as there is with criminal justice. I don't think my position has a comicbook character.
  16. I just finished Sam & Max. :) I'm so happy that these games got made, and really hopeful that there will be a season 2 (and more) in the future. I've no idea how well it sold, but it deserved to sell millions. Now back to work on my NWN2 module. The toolset is really frustrating and definitely not designed for total absolute beginners like me. I appreciate that you can do a lot with it if you know what you're doing, though. Jade, if you were disappointed with the lack of bonding with NPCs and romance options in NWN2, that's a good reason to put up with the old fashioned graphics of BG2 - it's famous for its romances and characters. A female character only gets one romance option, though there a few excellent mods (Kelsey and Solaufein spring to mind) that add romanceable NPCs on a par with Bioware's own. BG1 with Tutu and the BG1NPC pack also has three romance options for each sex, as well as lots of banters with the NPCs. I never play without them now.
  17. Your motherboard manual is probably the place to look. This brings back memories of last year and trying to build my computer. It had four little lights instead of beeps, and the fact that none of them even lit up once meant that I was screwed. The motherboard wasn't compatible with the processor. Oops.
  18. It doesn't look bad at all. Now if they'll only do something about the music...
  19. What a shame. It leaves me with no appetite to play this game that I've bought, though that could change in a few months.
  20. Nicely blocked, Meta. That's the whole District Line gone. I play Perivale, and I also want to play my joker here: all stations around Notting Hill Gate count double for the next three turns.
  21. It is, yes, and there's also Fahrenheit and a few others in the lower reaches. I was focusing on the top 25. I find any list without Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis in the top 20 to be unconvincing, I'm afraid.
  22. And this week's winner of Token Adventure in A Best Games Ever List is: The Secret of Monkey Island I wish they wouldn't use 'Best Games Ever' if they didn't mean it. The fact that it's a 'Best PC Games Ever' list makes it even less excusable.
  23. Hello, and welcome to the forums. Have you tried this? (taken from the FAQ): Hope this helps.

My theme tune has to be Duo In G Opus 34, Ferdinando Carulli: (Without the commentary, of course)
