  1. It scored 9.3 at Gamespot. (Actually it scored 8.3, but if you factor in the obligatory -1 for being an adventure game...) AdventureGamers were much less impressed, though apparently it is very creepy. I'm not rushing to buy it. But then, I still have some Sam & Max to last me.
  2. Ooh, a single token adventure game. What a surprise! It's Monkey Island this time. Unless one of the ones I've never heard of is an adventure game? Adventure games are not currently very popular, therefore they were never popular or good.
  3. As I saw it last night, the flaming of 'old Fallout fans' started before any serious trolling by Bethesda-haters. And yes, I do find the whole thing and how it's developing very interesting indeed. Perhaps I've led a sheltered life here in more civilized territory. Already?
  4. What interests me is that there seems to be just as much, if not more, unprovoked flaming of 'old Fallout fans' - or at least a version of a stereotypical old Fallout fan that exists in people's minds - as there is flaming of Bethesda and Fallout 3.
  5. Gabriel Knight II's .
  6. You are stars! Group select is now working very nicely. The big side button turns it on, the little side button turns it off. All is good.
  7. OK, then. I have a Microsoft Intellimouse. How do I persuade one of the side buttons to become Mouse 4, so that I can select my entire party with a single click and not have to drag a green box around them?
  8. It is indeed. The Mandalorians/Spartans thread is here.
  9. Moving to the Star Wars universe forum...
  10. We're all going there to post constructively and thus prevent it turning into a flaming battlefield. Right?
  11. I'm off to register. Is there a release date for the game yet?
  12. None of my mouse buttons is willing to configure itself as Mouse 4 or Mouse 5 - it doesn't come up as an option on the control panel for the mouse. So instead I'm using CTRL+left click to drag a green box around my party - which seems to fail more often than it succeeds. They did say it was a beta implementation of multi-select, I suppose.
  13. It does seem very unlikely, and after all the problem is Vista, not the Kotors. Maybe someone could go bother Microsoft about a fix. Seriously, I got the impression that despite the problems, most people were eventually (with some tweaking) getting the Kotors to run under Vista.
  14. The NWN2 forum thread lists the fixes: here. It also claims that 'Mouse 4' activates multiselect. My mouse does indeed sport unused buttons lurking at the sides. I shall have to investigate...
  15. I also haven't finished Fallout to compare properly, but Arcanum is a very good game - the story is interesting, the setting too, the (turn-based) combat is good fun and a refreshing change from the real-time with pause that dominates these days - and the magic vs. tech thing is fascinating. I'd recommend it any day.
  16. Gosh, I'd erased that from my memory. I wonder why.
  17. I have no need of bullet-proofing, for I have a bullet-proof 'safe' room (i.e. my downstairs toilet), design approved by a UK safety 'expert', into which I can flee should armed terrorists storm the compound. I quite fancy one of the ballistic blankets as a duvet. Do you think they come in different colours?
  18. I read the first post about The Avengers, and thought of a totally different thing. There's a movie that I'd like to see! I'm afraid the movie as described above seems to have far too many main characters - something that hurt the X-Men after the first movie, in my view. Where can I find lists of forthcoming movies, other than IMDB's 'coming soon'?
  19. I quite like Mark Fiore. Unfortunately many politicians are unphased when confronted with their own hypocrisy. As a left-wing Labour MP caught sending her kids to a private school once said, "It's indefensible, so I'm not going to defend it."
  20. Sorry, but I'm afraid I really wouldn't be able to do this. My ISP doesn't do stability. I could only play as The Incredible Disappearing Bard, who winks out of existence every thirty minutes only to pop up 5-120 minutes later cursing and tearing his hair out. I have to pass. Have fun, guys!
  21. *thread pruned* (Let's take it as read that everyone concurs with everyone else, and move on.) I wonder if TSLRP is trying to stamp out as many of the tweak and feature problems before handling the four remaining 'minor' bugs. As soon as it hits build 0.8b1 there's going to be a sudden upsurge of interest, so they might want to have it nearly ready for release by that time. I don't know - do bug test organisers think like that?
  22. Great! I shall have something to do this weekend. Other than lurk around here, that is.
  23. Which European countries heavily ban music, movies or games?
  24. It was the formulae for the health and mana potions that required the correct ingredients - drawn from the five elemental groups of air, fire, earth, water and pizza. You didn't actually get to make freaky Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde pizzas until QfG5. Hmmm, that makes me want to play QfG again... And hungry. Of course! I mean, I know game designers try to make everything intuitive, bless them, but I like actually having some idea what I'm doing.
  25. Presumably it's to encourage people with racist prejudices to feel positively about Fox ("These guys at Fox share my values, they're my kind of people etc.") and thus more likely to watch Fox's TV channels? If Rupert Murdoch is feeling sorry, when is he going to apologise? And what about reparations?
