The greatest russian hero of wide lowlands has perished!
Do you remember when he signed the order outlawing the Communist Party on national TV, with Gorbachev looking on and pleading with him to stop? That was a powerful moment. I also remember ( think) that he kept the Irish Prime Minister waiting at Dublin Airport for him because he was too drunk to get off the plane. A mixed record, certainly, but his biggest mistake (allowing a tiny clique of oligarchs to take control of the Russian economy) had a lot to do with bad advice from Western neo-liberals and the World Bank.

St George's day
Well, no, but we can at least give people something meaningful that they can celebrate should they so wish (other than the fact that the banks are closed on a holiday when it would actually be really convenient if they were open, because a closed bank at a time when you'd like to use it is a rare and wonderful thing which deserves celebration). Moreover, it is the current system of celebrating the closure of the great institutions of capital that drive our glorious market economy that smacks of communism.

Question from fans -- How well did NWN2 end up selling?
That was sort of my point. The press release came from JoWood (the publisher), not Piranha Bytes (the developer). Information about NWN2 would probably come from Atari, and only from Obsidian if they cleared it with Atari first. Please feel free to correct me if I'm completely wrong. Please don't call Gothic 3 the weakest link in the chain. I'm still looking forward to playing it. One day. When the patch comes out. And is then fixed. And re-fixed. Again.

Would Obsidian even be allowed to say? You might have better luck asking Atari.

Armando Iannucci
And what exactly is it that you have planned for Armando Ianucci once he has been captured? Declare your nefarious intent, sir!

How was the next day?
It's the eyes. I've been hanging out at the Fallout3 forums too much. Last night I dreamt of turn-based combat which involved four combatants seated on a Merry-Go-Round and swinging metal pipes at each other in time with the music.

Math proves that the Buffy universe
This is dreadful news. How am I supposed to play Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines now, knowing that I'm driving an endangered species to the brink of extinction? It's no better than playing Panda Cull 2 (an XBox exclusive, I believe).

St George's day
Of course we can cook. It's whether we can eat the results that's the question. There is of course a website demanding that St. George's Day become an official holiday, and I'd support the idea. I think we need to abolish Bank Holidays for being irredeemably dull, and replace them with actual days of celebration that mean something.

Don't panic! Don't panic!!!

Armando Iannucci
I really only know his radio work, apart from The Saturday Night Armistice (remember Hunt the Old Woman?). He did a thing for Radio 3 about a museum of keyboards that I heard on BBC7 a while back - including a Stalinist keyboard that played music through the controlled torture of differently-pitched dissidents, and an ice keyboard that could only be played for ten minutes before it melted. Great radio.

St George's day
I vote for openly admiring Georgia, a plucky country with many trials and tribulations. I would do the ceremonial slaying of the dragon, but I'm not that far advanced in my game of NWN2.

Armando Iannucci
He was one of those people who used to record 30-minute comedy shows off Radio 4 onto cassettes when he was a kid. Not like me at all. No way. So for bait, I'd say a little cluster of cassette tapes with 'Radioactive', 'Round the Horne' or 'Weekending' on the labels should do the job.

Official Fallout Forums!
The moderator editing that poll so that Bethesda came out on top of the surviving developers was absolutely hilarious, and unfortunately played right into the hands of those with nary a kind word for Bethesda. They're still miles behind Troika, of course, but Obsidian was clearly in the lead in the second, Troika-less poll, until they were 'merged'.

Obsidianites unite!
Hi. And off to bed, I'm afraid, it being 2 o'clock in the morning here. Good luck! Try not to kill/maim each other!

Games you are looking forward to
I wouldn't have thought so. The press response was lukewarm/good rather than outright bad. Besides, adventure gamers know better than to rely on press reviews, especially on the multi-genre sites. That seems more likely.

Games you are looking forward to
How odd. I heard that Fahrenheit was supposedly renamed Indigo Prophecy to avoid being confused with the Michael Moore documentary. What does "Angel of Death" suggest that makes it unsuitable for a game title?

THQ and Sega team up for retail event
Is it not a bit early for that? As an aside, has SEGA published any other RPGs or adventures that I might have heard of? What's their main thing?

You know you've played too much Star Wars when...
Then I guess that's a wrap, folks!

TSL Restoration Project: The Phantom Deadline
I know exactly how you feel, but there really isn't an ETA that they've given. The number of bugs/issues to be fixed is creeping ever lower, but slowly, slowly... They probably have no more idea when they'll be finished than we do.

Help Black Screen
TG is the Team Gizka site, the people who are behind The Sith Lords Restoration Project to restore cut content. They also have a number of bug/feature fixes on their downloads page, which I've linked you to. Good luck.

Obsidian guys' personal websites
She's too young, and may be less able to cope with the stresses and horrors of insanity than others who've seen more in their lives. She's winning now, though. How did that happen?

Official Fallout Forums!
I think I'm getting near the point where I've said all I've got to say on a game about which nothing is yet known. It's a bit heated over there, sometimes - good in a way, but lacks the relaxed silliness of the old PNJ forum (RIP  ).

Comic book story delivery...
Of course, I have to vote for GK1, as I've never played the others. But it was very well done, in an era when huge cinematic cut-scenes were not a viable alternative given the power of most computers.

Best Game Cinematics & Cutscenes
Very effective in Gabriel Knight 1.

Cthulhu Manifestations
It scored 9.3 at Gamespot. (Actually it scored 8.3, but if you factor in the obligatory -1 for being an adventure game...) AdventureGamers were much less impressed, though apparently it is very creepy. I'm not rushing to buy it. But then, I still have some Sam & Max to last me.
