Current status of Monks
draek replied to Maydawn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
My PC is a monk and what I have learned so far is I use my Tanks to fight block off 90% of the enemy meele then send my monk to fight an enemy 1 on 1. He gets wounds and flanks the enemy with monk powers. So far its worked reasonably well. -

The physical cds come with steam keys. When you install via cd - logs into steam and updates your game. -
Grieving Mother has 42 intelligence.
draek replied to Fighter's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Except that you would find it hard not to hit your own party. One AOE attack that I've got with her takes nearly the whole screen. Use her like a Laser Guided Missile. Have a high stealth unit map out a large group of enemies. And Just Fire a Massive AoE attack nuke. -

Man if she was a Wizard her AoE attacks would be epic. -
Combat is just too frustrating
draek replied to Heatsink's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Pathing is still pretty hilarious in PoE I remember a case where I had 2 guys beating on an enemy. 300 degrees of the enemy was completely empty. Instead of taking space between that completely empty unobstructed 300 degrees. It decided to run back and forth in the 60 degrees of space that my2 guys were taking up trying to find a spot. -
You should also have to play the game blind folded, with 1 hand tied behind your back.

Last Soloer is right. A lot of older games had zones within areas of varied difficulty so you come back at a later period to see what is there. The concept of linear scene transitions is that of more simpler \ stream lined games. Even on the jRPG side FF series had some bosses which could insta kill you if you take a step in the wrong direction. It is all about knowing which battles to fight and which not too.

There is no Sax But they do have a Killer Ax Which can do some great riffs. Though not as great as Jimi Hendrix

I found out most things run faster than me. My Rogue in padded armor got out ran by an enemy paladin clad in a breastplate.

There is a limit to how much you can test and how many systems you can test it on. Personally i only had 1 game breaking bug which was resolved in a load from a previous save. Only when the game goes into the wild to test it on every variation of systems and various combinations the masses decide will the bugs start showing their face.

Stronghold Immersion
draek replied to Elfwyn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Personally I think the funniest part is - When your Stronghold is attacked, only the hirelings try to defend it. All the extra NPC characters you made \ found sit happily in Brighthallow or Barracks while the world burns around them. -
AI: Pwgra rather fights a harmless deer
draek replied to Jansen's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Pwegra was pissed off that Santa didn't give her a gift last Christmas, so she has waged war against all deer. -
Soloing the game
draek replied to ProjectBG2Respawn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Real stealth would be directional stealth: vision + sound. Something similar to Commandos -
One option I would like is something seen in some jRPGs - when you go into a bar, your NPC characters all leave you and hang around doing various things inside or even having discussions with each other. It gives them a sense of having their own personalities and the world just doesn't revolve around you.

Pillars of Bugs ?
draek replied to geobio's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I played 20 hours so far and the bugs I encountered so far are pretty minor. I hear the linux guys got the worst of it though.
