  1. As mentioned a while ago, I went to Europe this winter (summer in the northern hemisphere). Took a number of pictures. Decided against flooding the What You've Done today thread Didn't take a lot of pictures from the 3 hour stopover in Changi Airport, suffice to say, it's worth a visit if you've never been there (I've been there about a dozen times by now). A bit of amusing trivia about Denmark... it's flat, it's wet, it has 7000 of coastline with beaches (not including the overseas territories). Usually green with a grey sky. I got lucky, 2 weeks of mostly sunshine and 20-22c temperatures. Same as the winter in Brisbane, in Denmark they just call it "summer". Most places you go, even in the middle of nowhere, you'll find bicycle paths! Yes, the lane I'm standing on while taking this picture is a bicycle path and I have it coming if someone crashes into me here. Pedestrians have no more business being here than on the road I spent the majority of the two weeks in my old hometown on the west coast of Jutland, a town called "Esbjerg", old fishing and ferry town (used to have regular ferry routes to England before the channel tunnel), now mostly a port for shipping and offshore oil rig maintenance as well as a connection point for the offshore windmills and natural gas pipes from the North Sea. The maritime museum (next to the 4 white statues) have a number of saltwater aquariums showing North Sea wild life Went here several times, my favourite ice cream place the last 50 years!

  2. My childhood memories were mostly of a steel grey sky and a steel grey ocean... A flood marker. The metal rings have years on them, showing the water levels at particular years, when the sea came for the inhabitants My old high school in a town called Ribe. The school was founded in 1180's and celebrated its 800th anniversary during my second year there The school library has old handwritten books, illustrated by monks (all kept in fireproof safes) The school originally trained new priests and was built by this church, itself built (commenced, took decades to finish) around 1160... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribe_Cathedral Now Ribe, unlike Esbjerg, is indeed an old town Beautiful place with lots of medieval houses with channels and water locks everywhere Across the street from where my parents used to live (more than a decade ago) is another old church... it's part an old building from the late 1100's (the large granite stones) and a new, modern part built in the late 1400's I'll add some pictures from my trip to Hamburg over the weekend

  3. Ahem, Arquebus is veil-piecing. It's more a Devoted issue with other weapons.

  4. Why rogue (maybe not streefighter) isn't on the list ? For weapon DPS, there are not that much that can be the sheer DPS increase from Sneak Attack, Deathblows and Deep Wound. Chanter is great for Swift Handed but you can have one in the party, not the gunner themselves. Probably some Ranger/Rogue with Chanter support is more optimal.

  5. Typical street picture from my old hometown. Can't really call it the "older" part, as it's not even two centuries old What Danish beaches looks like Note the offshore windmill farms generating electricity out on the North Sea! A notable "feature" of the west coast beaches is leftovers from WWII. German bunkers can be found many places. From simple gun emplacements to observation towers and command centrals Of course I had to crawl around inside one of them Part of the west coast (southern part) is protected by dikes. This is what the landscape looks like on the landward side. Often marshes and wetlands. Notice the absence of livestock. You don't really want to go wandering around out there, away from the road. Some beaches also have this legacy from WWII... an estimated 10000 live landmines that were never recovered after the war. It's recommended not to stray from the marked paths

  6. Apparently Ubisoft has not just decided to reset the Might and Magic canon to before they acquired the IP from 3DO, but to a point before HoMM4 and MM9 (y'know, when NWC decided to reset everything by exploding the planet).

  7. IIRC the problem with having things like 999 second cooldowns in AI script is that it doesn't reset or stop counting when you finish a battle. You're likely to fight more than one battle every 999 seconds, but if you set it too low your guy starts doing stupid things mid-battle. IMO the best Arquebus user is generally a Scout with Chanter backup for Swift-Handed. Sneak Attack and Deathblows help offset the damage reduction from Driving Flight, with Maia using Red Hand I've seen extremely good damage from even the bounced shot, unless I build my watcher as a glass cannon she usually ends up with the highest damage output in my party.

  8. I played an Assassin/Bleak Walker pretty soon after the game came out. The value of big arquebus crits with Assassinate+Flames of Devotion is fairly limited after the early game. Enemies' health pools just become too big. Only if you can become invisible lots of times during an encounter an arquebus with Assassinate makes sense. So I combined Assassin with Priest of Skaen for more invisibility uses per encounter (that was before Arkemyr's Brilliant Departure). If I wanted to maximize invisibility uses for an Assassin I would pair it with a Bloodmage I guess who can cast Brilliant Departure lots of times and also has the benefit of an Essential Phantom which also can make good use of an arquebus setup.

  9. I wonder if one could AI script this? Something like 1. Always True -> Attack (cooldown of like 999 seconds) 2. Always True -> Switch to Weapon Set 2 (cooldown of like 999 seconds) 3. Always True -> Attack (etc) 4. Always True -> Switch to Weapon Set 3 (etc) 5. Always True -> Attack (etc) 6. Always True -> Switch to Weapon Set 4 (etc) with the idea that the AI script moves down the list with each check. Anyway, I agree that this might be of limited value past early/mid game. I found this handy with Kana in PoE1 (who started with extra weapon slot) because enemy health tended to be lower and encounters shorter (albeit more frequent) and you could easily take out or severely injure one enemy before settling into one weapon for the rest of the fight, and snowball it from there. In Deadfire encounters are long and enemy health way higher, it's quite the ability point/equipment tax for only a small boost that's only relevant early on. if your'e going with the stealth/ambush angle, you might want ghost-heart just to avoid having to worry about stealthing or keeping your animal companion out of combat.

  10. Dps-wise and speaking about "self-contained builds" I guess there's not much that comes close to the described Streetfighter/Troubadour with wisps, but it doesn't have great accuracy. So I'd say Ranger/Troubadour with Marked for the Hunt, Marksman, Driving Flight, Gunner and so on and Sure-Handed Ila + Aefyllath Ues Mith Fyr, using the Red Hand. Great reloading speed, great accuracy, good versatility (due to invocations, esp. summons), good dmg per shot (burning lash at all times). But it's true that you only need a chanter in the party for that. If there is one then including the rogue class is great. For example: If you don't enchant the Red Hand with Double Tap but the Knockdown effect instead, a Rogue/Ranger can be very good - if Arterial Strike is used a lot. I mean it's great anyway bc. of all the dmg bonuses paired with high ACC. But I mean it's even better imo if you can knock enemies away from allies with Arterial Strike and they will suffer greatly if they want to re-engage (they usually want that). With Driving Flights it's two enemies with one shot who will hobble around, bleeding out. It's very useful and does a lot of damage per shot, too. It's not as fast with reloading but good enough imo. You lose the double tap against vessels but I think it's worth it in this case. If you have a chanter in the party you can still use the wisp trick and pick a streetfighter for the rogue/ranger. For a solo arquebus user I think not much comes close to @Kaylon's Assassin/Tactician. It's posted here as a build somewhere with the mechanics explained. Mechanically I'm not a big fan of the Devoted with an arquebus because he's at a disadvantage when he meets pierce resistant or immune enemies - or ones with an Arcane Veil (which are pretty frequent, esp. among the vessel and spirit categories). Black Jacket is okay. I personally don't see a huge advantage when using 0-recovery weapon-set switching though because of the Red Hand arquebus. You buy up to 3 quick extra shots with increased micromanagement - I mean on paper it's worth it, but I find that one stops to care after a few encounters because the switching gets annoying. Especially when the fights last longer and longer it's not worth my time. Conquerer Stance is very nice though. And with the Community Patch Weapon Mastery is nice, too. Thematically a Sharpshooter/Devoted would make a lot of sense - and as long as you don't meet too many pierce immune foes (or just make your character sturdy enough to be able to punch those with Monastic Unarmed Training) it would also perform well. +3 PEN at closer range is pretty good - +6 when using Penetrating Strike: a lot of overpenetration I guess?

  11. Hi, I don't know if it is the best build/combo for an arquebus, but I'm liking Red Hand with Guilty Conscience full stacked on a Wildrhymer (Ranger\Chanter) with all bonuses you have listed

  12. Borderlands 4 teaser trailer. Teaser is not gameplay and tells/shows nothing of value except "2025". Eh, maybe. I will at least pray for it to be somewhere between BL2 and BL3 - eg, not worse than BL3. So I can stand being "forced" to play it when hubby wants to buy it. If it looks worse than BL3 - hubby may have to play alone. ======================== Also: Manor Lords update news: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1363080/discussions/0/4434443557916093138/

  13. Really just back to Denmark, showing a bit of the island off the coast Esbjerg (west coast of the Jutland peninsula) and parts of an iron age settlement excavation (more of interest for those into very old history I think, although I enjoyed the family picnic to the site as a kid) Edit: Sadly, it was only two weeks, including time to get over the jet lag. Most days were spent with my family and also at the cemetery, finally getting to spend some time at my mothers grave (since I couldn't attend her funeral). Not showing pictures of my family or cemetery

  15. To make matters worse, there will be two people who did not win but know things would be better if they were on the board.

  16. Yes. I know a decent chunk at this point, so hopefully that helps. The HOA is run by some corporation, so the transparency kinda sucks. They keep scheduling meetings for 1:00 PM on Wednesdays and I'm like, don't people need to work to pay for these townhomes? Homeowners Association. It is more likely to sink than it is to hover.

  17. I applied to be on my HOA board, since I have no idea what is happening with it and I figure that is a good way to stay in the loop. There are 2 spots and 4 candidates running. I am the only one who wrote up a candidate statement. We will see if that hurts or helps. Yay democracy!

  18. That's a common comparison, though I always felt it missed what Mafia was aiming for (at least first two). They were never "open world" games as such, but linear narrative games with openworld as a backdrop. As such, I always like Mafia games (at least first two) far more than any GTA title. Red Dead Redemption2 probably was the sweet spot for me, bringing strong narrative focus, and nice world texture through side activities.

  19. This tooth had a very old filling which had to be changed a few times. So it was the problem tooth anyway. The good thing is the nerve is already dead because all dentists I know said "Yeah, this tooth will cause trouble again eventually". It wasn't completely unexpected. Still annoying. At least it doesn't hurt.

  20. Yes, scripting the switching at the start of battle (or with another initial trigger for that behavior) would be doable.

  22. Those rat bastages made me cut down a tree in my front yard a few years ago (well, they paid to have it cut down and removed). I had planted it years ago when it was knee high and now it was towering. "Waa, we cant see your house number." "Waa, its way over first floor your roof line."

  23. Full stealth/Assassin's outfit with 100%, check. Infra-vision googles, check. High level Stealth perk bonuses while crouched, check. Can't see me! Verrrry close even when facing you. If they're facing away from you, can kill them without them ever reacting. The other in the room doesn't even react when you kill the first one. I wonder if that outfit bonus will get nerfed back down to 99%. Even if not a Tier6 level, it's still fairly OP'd. But it's going to take most a long while to get there+high stealth Perk, plus it's slower clearing, plus it's not as invulnerable outside/en-masse, so. Seems fair to me. Makes stealth build my favorite thing tho.
